My idea of the perfect peach has a lot of red in it, and when you bite into it, the juices run down your chin and all over the ground! I've been to a couple farmer's markets here in Oklahoma where I have been fortunate enough to experience that, and it is awesome! Mom used to put Granny Smith apples in my lunch when I was little because I like the tart flavor I tasted when I bit into it. I always enjoyed lunch, knowing I was going to get a Granny Smith's apple! Life was so simple when I was little. The biggest thing I thought of was if I was going to get my favorite apple, a cherry cheese cake or spaghetti for supper with garlic bread lol or eat all my mom's candy jarred cherries haha

Movin to country ... gonna eat a lotta peaches. LOL ... now I gotta go listen to Lump and the rest! Looking behind you, I notice that you're not painting those trunks any longer. Is that something you did in winter and they've just grown bigger, or now that they have so much shade, you're not worried about it any more? Our early Alberta is about ready to pick...usually it's a July 1st thing. First fruit on this tree but we've had that variety in the yard before. Cant wait. Love the new drone footage, but the new music was a surprise. Good stuff!
@EdgeofNowhereFarm
@EdgeofNowhereFarm 2 года назад
Hey Kevin! Glad I'm not the only fan of that group. Lump is another classic for our generation! We usually stop painting the trunks once the canopy is shading it. The exception is on a few of the trees where we have concerns with rabbits or ground squirrels munching on the bark. I'm hoping that peach is as good as you remember. We were really excited to taste that first FlordaPrince after 2 years of not having them!

@EdgeofNowhereFarm
@EdgeofNowhereFarm 2 года назад
Hey S G. You mentioned peaches, so I'm assuming the other fruit are off the table (Fall ripening apples tend to bloom pretty late). The Tropic Snow and Saturn peach are good options for us here that bloom a bit later, but I'm not an expert on some of the more cold hardy varieties as they don't work well for us here. Have you taken a look at the Dave Wilson website to see what varieties they have that have a higher chill hour requirement? Those would be my choice to focus on in colder climates like yours. Besides that, I would be growing your traditional apples and cherries for sure!
