I've been using a $20 Hamilton Beach stick for a few years. It has the standard blender attachment, a whisk attachment that can make small amounts of whipped cream in under two minutes, and a small food processor attachment (fully enclosed) for making pesto, bread crumbs, salsa, etc. All three attachments were included in the $20 model. It has two speed buttons, and you hold one of them down to operate it. I've never had trouble taking it apart, and it's never come apart during operation.

@@teklife I only have one little nitpick about it. The whisk whisks. The immersion blender blends. But the mini food processor is a little disappointing on hard cheeses in the particular model I have. You can certainly grate hard cheeses instead, but I find that tiny spheres often give a better aesthetic than fast-melting rasped cheese. The spheres are typically made in a blender or food processor. But for some reason (the sharpness of the blade and/or the speed) it's just really hard to get nice small spheres. They tend to come out at about 1/16", whereas 1/32" would be ideal. I think the blade is the culprit. On a typical food processor, you have to be really careful handling and cleaning the blade, because it's usually scary sharp. Even if you bring your pay-attention level up to a 6 or 7, you might still cut yourself. On mine, I've never been cut, and frankly I'm at a 4 or 5 in the carefulness.

I have the Braun MQ505 that they recommend. It really is nice. My old immersion blender was also a Braun and I loved it. It lasted at least 18 years before the stick blender started to slip and make a nasty racket. The old one came with a little cup chopper that I still occasionally use to make chive oil. That said, this new one is WAY nicer to use, especially when blending smaller amounts of sauce or soup. The old one would splatter unless you had enough sauce to fully submerge the bell. The new one blends smaller amounts without the mess. They definitely improved from the older model.

@coralinealgae
@coralinealgae 2 года назад
@@igorborovkov7011 I wouldn't use an immersion blender to crush ice or anything hard frozen. If that's something you do regularly, a Ninja style blender would be better. Immersion blenders are designed to blend cooked chunky food, or emulsify homemade mayo or salad dressings. You can make a chunky tomato sauce partially or fully creamy. Same with soups or beans. Some models have small chopper attachments, but those are better used to chop stuff like fresh onions, or to make a little pesto.

Which one handles frozen foods and ice the best? Which ones let you run the longer than 15 secs before you have to rest it? Which ones have other attachments that are useful? I know it's not viable to ask which ones konk out after 10 uses since none of them were used long term. (A common complaint with some of the lower end ones was that they died young.) Also some complaints were that some blenders didn't have enough power to make mayo. Having spent so much money buying all these blenders to test, it would have been cool to get a review that covered more bases instead of just "this one is light, fits well, and you don't need all those other speeds". I would have liked for you to have picked out the top 3 and then talked about the pros and cons, what they did well, what they didn't do well compared to each other, etc.

@sigrid714
@sigrid714 4 месяца назад
The Breville All-in-one gets unfairly dunked in this review on IMO, as it is very well built and comes with a fantastic kit if you want to save space. It comes with a 6 Cup Food Processor attachment (with chopper, slicer, and grater blades) that can take the place of your food processor for the same countertop footprint. That's why its variable speed dial is important. But I'd also have to disagree with the review in that I find variable speed very useful and use it all the time. When puree'ing small amounts of food, or thick pastes, for example, using too high a speed will just expel the food out of the blade well. Using a lower speed helps break down the food without displacing it. It's also useful for doing the initial break down of large chunks when you're trying to cream soups or make cashew cream, as lower speeds not only create less risk of splashing when it's still in a watery + chunky state, but they also don't create such a strong vacuum force that pulls the blender towards the bottom, allowing you to "stir" the blender around and to homogenously break down all the chunks and then you can move up to higher speeds when "stirring" with the blender is no longer necessary and you're just going to keep the blender in one place so the vacuum effect isn't as much of an issue.

But for many, there may be a first evaluation of heavy duty vs small quick light available for the home kitchen (that's what Test Kitchen has chosen here). So you need to know what you want that tool to do. I'm replacing some blenders because the manufacturer has compromised heavy duty, strength, longevity for the lighter, quieter plastic-nylon gears. That first heavy blender may be heavy because it has stronger, heavy duty metal gears and superior internal copper wire windings in the motor.

However, not all of us live in New England where we have a summer "cottage" and loads of cash to spend. It would be helpful to have the reviews consider several price points like they used to in the past. I can't afford 59 dollars on an immersion blender i'll probably use only in Thanksgiving and maybe Christmas dinner. Please include popular brands I can find in places like Wal-Mart or Target.

@brightmong8478
@brightmong8478 2 года назад
Mmm I've checked out the website, and the Vitamix $150 has minimal attachments and the additional attachments are kind of pricy. A whisk attachment (not included?! / $20) and a food processor attachment ($50) will bring the price up to $220. At that price range you have the Braun 9, which comes with more attachments and a comparable wattage. But if I'm wrong, please do tell. I'm trying to decide myself. I'm looking at the 700 watt range for grinding meat, curious if you think that that is foolish.
