It is a wise decision to go to the World's most friendliest and helpful people 'Pearl of Indian Ocean' Island. 10 minutes and short (multiple videos) are the best to describe tourist experience. Also try visiting any local small and medium size homes, to witness cooking and have your own local lunch (rice and curry, yellow rice, lamprais, buriyani, string hoppers, egg hoppers with plain hoppers, plain tea with jaggery/hakuru instead of sugar and milk, dring Fresh Toddy/Ra under the coconut tree, orange king coconut or Elephant House Ginger beer instead of Coke/Sprite/fanta)

In Sri Lanka people are greeted by pressing the palms of one's hands together (similar to the hand gesture done when Indians greet saying Namaste). @nandanimadom6757 In Sri Lanka people greet saying Ayubowan which has the meaning of "may you be blessed with a long life". Ayubowan is written in the Sri Lankan Sinhala language script as "ආයුබෝවන්". In the regions like in the north of Sri Lanka such as in Jaffna where the Tamil language is used more often, one might be greeted Vanakkam". So in Sri Lanka people will be greeted "Ayubowan" or/and "Vanakkam" and not "Namaste" such as in India. However if a Sri Lankan that meets knows the person is from India or is of Indian Origin they may greet "Namaste" but such is not quite common. Another difference is in Sri Lanka for Tea, it's not called Chai (as called in India) , and Sri Lankans call Tea as thé (similar to how Tea is called in French) and written in the Sinhala language script as තේ . If you go to a restaurant and order prepared Tea to drink it's quite common to order as Milk Tea (Tea which has added milk and sugar) or Plain Tea (Tea without added milk but with added sugar).
