Hodad's is only popular because it was on TV. When in SD, Phil's BBQ is the place to go, near Arena Blvd. It serves 2k people A DAY. Phil created the BBQ sauce when he was 16 and his food is amazing. It's lined up around the building, but worth the wait.
Wow, ya'know, I think Peter's movie knowledge really benefits his filming skills. After watching (well, attempting to watch; ALL other vlogers are TERRIBLE!) various vlogers, Peter's director skills really shine through. GREAT JOB, Peter :)

Makes me miss San Diego. Not been there since 2017 Road trip. My dad and I flew to Oregon and drive all the way down to spread my grandmother's ashes over are Coronda Beach. It's a great city to visit, such a cool vibe. Great bars and restaurants in Gas lamp Quarter. Oh and home to Phils BBQ....what a place

I grew up in San Diego and Fillipi's Pizza was our favorite. When I moved to Washington there was one in our town owned by a relative from the San Diego but closed several years ago. So glad you showcased it! I love your channel.
I was stationed in San Diego twice in the 70’s. I have always loved that city. Never knew about little Italy till a few years ago we walked over from our hotel. My son was stationed there too and loved visiting him there. He always finds the best restaurants.

I love the reaction to the huge italian portions, that looks like what my italian grandmother serves on a regular day and will probably offer you seconds!😂😂 If there’s one thing us Italians do well, it’s eat!🙌🏼
The big meals is an Italian thing. My family makes huge portions and it is always only homemade. It's so fantastic. My family even has an Italian restaurant.

We have a Filippi's here in Napa, CA. It's the best Italian place hands down. They do have GREAT pizza, but all of their food is fantastic! The Lasagna and cheese raviolis are favorites, so great choices. Always have to get a giant meatball too. Can be a tad pricey, but you get what you pay for IMO. They also have THE BEST deserts! So glad you two discovered Filippi's!

I forgot his name, howeever, his cheese burgers had long lines at the Smorgasburg. Just re-watched your first Smogasburg video. George Motz is the famous hamburger chef. We loved your Cruise video so much that I am re-watching your Cruise playlist multiple times, 5 times for your Cruise videos 7 and 8. 😀😀😀 Wanted to watch Peter's AMAZING FLOWRIDER RIDE AND EXCITING WIN ON MAD MONEY DELUXE. We are very thankful you went on another cruise because I would just keep watching your Symphony of the Seas playlist over and over again.
We’ll the one at smorgasburg was a smash burger which is completely different because it has onions smashed into it. Both were some of the best burgers I’ve had

@@OrdinaryAdventures Peter, my boyfriend always removes tomato, onions, lettuce, and tomatoes from his burgers too, I eat his veggies because I love the flavoring each item adds to the burger. However, Peter, you are right, all the veggies makes the burger hard to eat, way too massive.
Next time get the pizza at Filippi's, it is soooo good. The cheese is so thick that it slides off the pizza if you aren't careful and super gooey too. The baked pasta's are good there because the cheese is baked on top and it gives it extra goodness doing it that way. Probably the furthest north to you guys neck of the woods would be the one in Temecula. Glad you enjoyed it.
Replied to this several times lol but I’ve lived in San Diego my whole life. Filippis is great you guys should have stopped by the old spaghettini factory. Their original location that they moved from used to be so cool it had an entire trolly car inside you could eat in.
LOL native San Diegan and I have yet to have hodads. Also, cant go wrong with amtrak. Used to get on in SD and take it to my grandparents in Irvine. Also just recently took it from SD to LA and then got on the coast starlight to Seattle.
Both meals looked HUGEEE!!! That burger was massive, I think the Italian looked more like my speed!!! I always say this to you guys but I am so happy to of found your channel and your vlogs and yourselves are amazing!
Watching this makes me miss Italian food in America, the scene is very different here in Australia. There's something about a giant meatball atop your pasta that's just *chef kiss*, you know?
@@OrdinaryAdventures speaking from here in Melbourne, there's a lot of incredibly high quality Italian food available, similar to what you would eat in Italy. But on the flip side, there are also a lot of places which serve lower quality food which I suspect would horrify Italian people to be called 'Italian'. Last night my partner and I tried a new-to-us local pizza and pasta place and I got ravioli (was this choice influenced by seeing Kitra eat that delicious-looking ravioli in this video? Yes.). It probably should have tipped me off that it didn't say what sort it was on the menu, just 'ravioli', when he asked me what was in it, my response was 'Mystery meat'. There doesn't seem to be that middle-of-the-road-won't-bust-your-wallet-but-solidly-good, red chequered tablecloth, red sauce kind of place...or perhaps I just haven't found it!
Llama I still want to go to San Diego now Hodads looks so good and so does the Italian restaurant I love Italian food and I love lasagna everything looks so good🙂
I love SD and lived in Ocean Beach back in the 80s on the street, Niagara that leads right up to the entrance of the pier. I walked out my door, passed 2 little cottages and stepped onto it. Best place I've lived in my entire life. Was fun seeing you guys enjoying it too 🌴🌞 That burger looked delicious!
BTW, I'm a San Diegan and I think our cruise port is the best. Our port has the old terminal and our shiny brand new terminal and the pier is literally steps from the action of our waterfront, Seaport Village, Gaslamp Quarter, convention center, and our beautiful downtown. Too bad more cruise lines don't home port here. Carnival and RCCL used to be here.
Holland America - fabulous “ old world “ style cruising. Ships are magnificent. I’ve cruised them in Caribbean & Mexican Riviera. Fillippi’s - awesome food. You walk in and the smell... just like walking into an Italian home We eat at the one in Temecula.
@@OrdinaryAdventures They are fabulous They have been around for decades. The ships are amazing. Food unreal. Service impeccable. Dutch Officers. Thai Crew. My Son, who has worded for Disney now for 27 years, went on his first HA Cruises when he was 8 & 11 with his Dad & I. Grandparents took him to Alaska when he was 13. And for he & his wife’s Honeymoon they did 1 week WDW followed by 1 week HA Caribbean cruise. He’s planning their 20th Anniversary Cruise now for next summer. And not DCL, but HA.
Ahhh man wish I had known, I would have told ya to hit up Samburger, Graze, or Not Not Tacos! The are owned and ran by Sam the Cooking Guy who is also awesome on RU-vid! Maybe on the way back :P lol that woman with the bubbles is a gem, someone who just cherrishes life and sharing it with others. Looked like a fun trip!!
As a local, I always love seeing my city reviewed. As far as Hodads, it’s definitely a great burger but far from the best here. Next time, try Rocky’s, Chicago Fire Grill, and Swagyu. All 10 times better than Hodad’s. Filippis is good too but try some fine dining Italian at Cucina Enoteca in Del Mar.
Yay! I’m one of the many who suggested Filippi’s! I’ve been eating there for over 30 years and it’s just SO GOOD (the ravioli and meatball is my go-to)! I’ve also eaten at the Hodad’s downtown and it’s delicious as well! Can’t wait to see the cruise vlogs!
We love Hodads!!! The bacon is like a bacon patty. We eat there whenever we are there in San Diego. Their onion rings are great too! We eat a Filippes in Napa every time we visit, but we ate at the one in San Diego before as well. Sooooo good!!
My wife and I are so bummed that you came to our town and we did not see you. All of us love your content. I used to work at the Filippi's you went to and I still know people there, so it is very cool you experienced it. We will watch the rest and hopefully you get to see LaJolla Shores, the Zoo, etc. Filippi's Ordering tip: Unless you are super hungry, willing to share, or plan on taking some home, get any pasta "half order" and the pizza thin crust with half the cheese. Hope to see your sticker at Hodad's soon.
