Even though it's a teaching hospital, you can ask for privacy and ask that the students not be there. I've done that on a few occasions. My daughter was in the NICU (full term) and the first night, leaving her there I was ok. The second night, nope. I broke down. Luckily she came home shortly after.

i really didn't mind the students being there too much honestly! i figured if i could help the next gen of doctors i'm cool with that.. just had to try to block it out best i could haha yeah it's so so hard, i'm happy your daughter came home safe and sound not long after she was born!

My baby was in the NICU and I had the same mindset, I was NEVER in my room. I was always in the NICU with her until the nurses made me go to sleep in my own bed because I was sleeping on the pull out couch in her room and was getting zero sleep. We do what we have to for our babies. I hate looking back on pictures from the NICU. That was by far the worst pain I’ve ever felt. But now she’s 3 months old and a happy chunky little girl :) congrats on your girls!!! I exclusively pump because by the time I got to breastfeed her she was not interested and just wanted a bottle so I’m glad to see the girls latch for you!!! ❤️
@courtneycapano
@courtneycapano 2 года назад
NICU parents have to go through something no mother ever should. You're stronger for getting through that mumma. I still can't look at our NICU stay pictures either, so i completely understand how you feel with that. I'm so happy your babe is thriving now though, thats incredible! the girls definitely have good and bad days latching because they are so use to the bottle, so if i have to move to only pumping i'll be happy with that too! thanks for sending some love over :) XO

🥺🙏🏻 thank you for sharing your experience! I'm currently 32 weeks pregnant with Mono/di boys, one is sIUGR and at their last growth scan they both showed a downward trend in growth rate. So they're trying to get us to 34 weeks, as long as the dopplers are still looking good then after 33 weeks I'll get my first set of steroids shots and at 34 weeks go in to deliver. My boys are both head down, and the Drs say as long as there aren't any complications I can attempt a vaginal delivery. I've only ever delivered vaginally before, and can't imagine having to go back and forth from my room/house to the NICU while I myself am recovering. You did so well though! I'm obviously aware that a C-section is very likely to happen, and I'm ok with it as long as my boys are safe. Thanks again for posting such a detailed birth story of your mono/di girls 💕 I'm glad I came across the video, this pregnancy has been one unexpected thing after another, and I'm sorry you had to go through all of that, but I'm also relieved to know I'm not alone, my boys will most likely be ok, and I can do this.
@courtneycapano
@courtneycapano 12 дней назад
This comment gave me the chills 🥺 you are absolutely not alone - I had the EXACT same experience. I had the steroids at 33 weeks as well and delivered at 34 and my daughters are thriving now. It’s so incredibly scary to be in your position, I know the feelings you have all too well but I just know you’re all going to be okay 💛 that’s incredible that both boys are head down and there is a chance you could deliver vaginally! with mono/di twins it is rare (as I’m sure you know) so it’s good you’re preparing for either outcome. The C Section is not so bad I swear!! My best advice is to truly put the decisions all in fates hands and trust the doctors. The NICU is SO hard and truly the most unnatural experience for a mother - but it is where they are the safest in those early days/weeks 💛 one day it’ll be a distant memory and you’ll have two crazy toddlers running around!! you got this, thinking of you 🫶🏼
@tifanimonet-vk9te

@@courtneycapano thank you 💕 I've been trying to mentally prepare myself for them to be born early and have to stay a while in the NICU, at one point we weren't even sure if they'd make it to 24 weeks so 32 weeks feels amazing!! My heart has always ached for all my mom friends when I hear their babes had to have a NICU stay, it really is so foreign and now it's my turn, but absolutely I know it's the best place for them to be! As much as I want to enjoy the newborn stage, I can't wait for it all to be but a distant memory. Your girls are beautiful 💕 I'm sure you don't need to hear it anymore than you probably already do, but enjoy these moments! They really do grow up so fast..

My 2nd daughter was one month early and weighed 5lb 15 oz and 18 inches long so she was a tiny one they said and as soon as my anesthesia wore off I got to get up slowly but I got to walk a little ways around in my room with a nurse by my side

My twins were not preemies but had to stay at the NICU until they could hold their temperature on their own. In my hospital in Germany I was also discharged after 4 days, but I could stay at the NICU as an accompanying person. I definitely would had broken down if I had to go home as you had to do. So sad to hear. Even the transfer in the ambulance was heartbreaking to hear for me. You are very strong. I wish you the most sleep you can get ;)

Yes the temperature was something our girls had to work on as well, we were so happy when they finally came out of the incubators.. i'm sure you remember that moment! thank you for your sweet words, haha trying to get sleep.. but mostly just getting snuggles and extra coffee :)

They are just tooo sweet!! I’m also a nicu momma of a micro preemie. The way you felt when leaving is the same I think any momma out there feels when doing the same. It was definitely the hardest thing I have ever done in my life still to this day. How long was the girls stay?

Why was it necessary to deliver at 34 weeks?

You DID DO A 👏🏻 GOOD JOB MOMMY!!!!!! I also wanted to tell you that I’ve done it both ways- high risk and preemie and not: you cannot have handled that any better and more BEAUTIFUL! Your story might come with lots of professionals, sterile environments, weird smells, and procedures- but it is wonderfully and uniquely YOUR Family’s! It’s precious and special. You know, I’m a a drug advocate on these situations, so I am curious why they don’t give you a big dose of like anti anxiety medicine before they numb you up to your breasts! If this is normally anxiety inducing, let’s work on that 😂 Thank you again for sharing! Did you crochet that beautiful blanket behind you? I’ve seen that pattern on a Daisy Farms crochet channel I wanna say. I also wanted to add that you’re so incredible having prepared for the hormones and allowing for these feelings. Here’s a crazy thought, it’s MUCH BETTER than bottle fed - can you imagine?? 😬 this is why I recommend any new mom to at minimum express/pump for a bit to ease the dump. Your hair also adjusts and will probably be much less due to breastfeeding. You’ll find your new normal. You’ll find your new normal with your marriage. It’ll all balance but it takes a bit. 🤗

thank you sweet girl! hahah anti anxiety meds honestly probably would be great for a lot of people! i was happy to be pretty clear headed during the procedure though so i could soak it all up (when i eventually came down from my bubble) No i didnt crochet that blanket but i agree it is beautiful! Hormones are so so crazy, that's all interesting to hear! I definitely notice changes every single day still. Women are so incredible!
