OURIQUE é uma vila e sede de um concelho do distrito de Beja, no Alentejo, Portugal. Localizada entre a planície alentejana e a serra Algarvia de Monchique é ainda marcada no seu concelho pelos rios Sado e Mira. Ourique tem origem no ano 711 com a entrada dos muçulmanos na Península Ibérica. A Batalha de Ourique, liderada por D. Afonso Henriques, ocorrida nos campos de Ourique a 25 de julho de 1139, foi decisiva para a Independência de Portugal. Em 8 de janeiro de 1290, o rei D. Dinis, concedei carta de foral a Ourique que permitiu a sua elevação a vila. D. Manuel I atribui novo foral a Ourique em 20 de setembro de 1510, confirmando os privilégios dados por D. Dinis.

OURIQUE is a village and seat of a municipality in the district of Beja, in Alentejo, Portugal. Located between the Alentejo plain and the Algarve mountains of Monchique, it is also marked in its municipality by the Sado and Mira rivers. Ourique originates in the year 711 with the entry of Muslims into the Iberian Peninsula. The Battle of Ourique, led by D. Afonso Henriques, which took place in the fields of Ourique on July 25, 1139, was decisive for the Independence of Portugal. On January 8, 1290, King D.
