I think the same, he tends to baby her too which prevents her in a way where she can't grow on her own but i dont think he's a bad person. I haven't caught up to the manga, but I wonder if his jealousy becomes overboard because a lot of readers hate him but I get the feeling it just because he's considered the 2nd ML.

He had so many chances to confess but blew it off, he even said "I don't want to go after girls who's already dating someone" BUT WENT AFTER YUKI WHO'S ALREADY DATING ITSUOMI AND DESPERATELY WANT THEM TO BREAK UP bro ate his own words. Like I always said, his heart maybe in the right place but that doesn't mean that his behaviour towards her is less suffocating and bearable. Itsuomi is too good to even compare to him.

@@Frannie13 thank you for this input, since I'm a slow reader, I'm always behind on my reads. His heart is in the right place but that's still no excuse for his actions. Seems like he wants her to only rely on him and stay in the safety zpne, not realize that Yuki wants to be an explorer and take challenges for herself. I hope he realizes his hypocrisy and move on rather than stay jealous that he was too late.

No, she caged her, infantilized her, controlled information coming her way and pretty much a walking red flag. That's not love or care, that's obsession. He's toxic as fuck to Yuki. Yuki ended up with Itsoumi anyway and the latest manga chapter was them just moving in to their apartment. The childhood friend becomes so insignificant as the show goes along.

He had this complex yes, assuming he will remain the only special one but alas real life don't work like that, he's an interesting character. Also the childhood friend drama is on the back seat for the most part I believe it's been a while since I read the manga

I mean oshi isn't that bad yes was kind of a meanie in his childhood days but, now he's protective and sort of a tsundere but yeah he had that complex for a while. Just like every childhood friend, love rival character he also started showing signs after the ml came in the fls life.

@@belablanck no no I'm not saying that his protectiveness isn't toxic. In the earlier chapters, but he'll go through some development eventually, I never liked Oushi one bit in the earlier months either, if anything I wanted him to disappear, heck I'll still want him to remain a passive character, his attitude was never looked in good faith but was understandable. On the other hand yuki's current friend on campus and the friends she'll make later, are much better at showing support and appreciation but are not as experienced with her as Oushi is which might have fueled his complex further. Oushi will improve too must give credit for that. (Hope all these stuff I pointed out wouldn't be considered spoilers) I'm saying that he is a character with lots of flaws, can come off as toxic but has a lot of room for character development. I like when the land beneath such characters crumble, I like when they mellow down after realising their mistakes. Do I want him near Yuki in that way? No, Did I like him as a love rival? No was he a well stretched character to me? Yes I like him as a character not as a person if that makes sense. Sorry I should have elaborated my initial reply, it came off rather confusing.
