The track anouncer thought the Willy's. broke an axle on the launch. I was on the return road approaching the starting line when this happened, but somehow didn't see it till I past the time slip shack.
Yes, there were two announcers and one of them immediately said that an axle had broke. They had a Birds Eye view of the incident. I was off to the side videotaping the Event. It took quite awhile to clean up the track and get everything back in place. It happened towards the end of the Event, but some of the racing action had to be scrapped because it was getting late in the day. One of the announcers eventually said that one of the racing groups (Brew City Gassers, the Presenters) had decided to cancel their last group run of the Event to let the other racers who had traveled from out of town, race instead because of the time factor.
The car broke a transmission cooler line in the starting line and got transmission fluid on the right rear tire. That's why it made the hard right turn. Unfortunate, but nobody was injured.👍
