Those sort of "appointments" infuriate me. They have you already locked in, and that you are unlikely to cancel and walk away on the spot (especially if they lie and tell you it will be 3 hours when they know its more likely 4-5 hours). But they know the walk ins WILL leave if they tell them its a 5 hour wait, so they move them to the front. You should write a complaint email, and hopefully find a different business next time.
It's a ridiculous system because it means more people will just do walk ins when it snows, because they won't have to wait. For tyres they should just do one day that's walk in and people take their chances, then appointments the rest of the time.
Yeah, what you went through with Kal-tire is why my dad stopped going to Canadian Tire and is going to an Independent/Small business garage. Unlike CT and those chain garages that will do stuff do your car without permission, or say you need something done when you don't, and try to charge and over charge you for it... Going to a Personal Run Garage is so much better. They're typically on time, respect you and your time, and won't try to upsale you with sketchy practices.
yeah so true, they rely on loyal customers so they treat you way better than these big chains that don't care if you come back or not because they have an unending line of customers waiting.
Yes! We found a small garage this year, the owner was textable (which is a dream, phone calls are a nightmare) the price was great, we were able to drop off the car at the buttcrack of dawn so no missing work (they have an agreement with a local business where if their little lot fills up, they can park finished cars in the other lot without them being towed, so we were able to pick it up after hours) AND we got ridiculously cheap summer/winter tire storage! So no more lugging heavy tires around (though we just spent like $300 on a tire caddy we now don't need lol) I don't know why we were so afraid to shop around, like chains are supposed to be reliable but they're NOT.
@@TheAshesvondust The reason we're so adverse towards small garages, is they're shown as the scummy ones in media. How many Hallmark movies have we seen the Heroin's car breaking down, and the old garage owner is not only misogynistic, claims its gonna be days to get the car fixed and that its gonna be so expensive? If anything that sounds like a Chain Garage!
As someone who recently just quit Canadian Tire, idk how it is with other stores but since it's a franchise with different owners they're all run differently and it's a hit or miss with some stores. My bf worked in the Auto department and it was an absolute mess. It was already problematic because of what previous store owners did (they only stay 1-2 years at each store), but one of the main problems were the people actually working in the shop. It was really hard to find competent people to hire at such a low / minimum wage. And you pretty much couldn't really fire them even if they did a bad job because, again, it was hard to find skilled people who cared to work for so little. They ran behind all the time despite the appointment times, came across problems and never told anyone (which means the customer wasnt informed and it took even longer), always had bad tempers and got upset if you tried to tell them "how to do their job", and many of them didnt want to learn to read the paperwork right. Sucks to get a bad rep esp when my bf was working the service desk and got all the angry customers when he wasn't even the one working on the cars
@@bunbearry you are quite right. But when the majority of these chain locations are consistently bad within a certain radius, finding that Chain company, with good service, is like finding the holy grail and I include dealership garages in this. Its not just exclusive to Chain Garages; its the same with Big Box Stores. My local walmart, not only treats their workers poorly, aside from a handful of employees, their customer service is blashe. Also, if you need help, finding something, getting like their furniture off a high shelf... forget it... No one will do it. My dad stood around waiting for over an hour, for someone to get a boxed furniture down. He never got the help and didn't get the item he was after.
I love how you say “there’s Michael’s, but I don’t really need anything there…” and I’m thinking ‘I never need anything there but I have to go in anyway!” 😂
I use my witchy notepads at my job when I need to write notes bigger than a sticky note. My coworkers think they are so dang cute. I certainly love the witchy theme all year long but I’d buy something that size in any print!
The lining in the coat is to prevent snow from going in, when snowboarding/skiing. Doesn’t always work great, but you’ll don’t notice it after a few days.
I spent most of yesterday in bed so when I was considering going out for supper I was shocked to see a few feet of snow ❄️ I’m not a winter person, I dislike snow and I’m physically disabled so even brushing off my car is huge job. That said I do enjoy seeing when people are happy about the snow, knowing that it is bringing joy to others make my disappointment lessen.
Welcome to Alberta with the winter stuff. :D while i love it here, sometimes the winter gear is such a pain in the butt to gather up and keep track of. also the appointment thing. kal-tire is *SO BAD* for that. find a mom and pop shop if you can. they often care more for the appointments and getting you in and out then other places. complaining doesnt do much for them. your just another number in their books.
Wow, I got my tires changed to winter tires yesterday, and it took them only 30-40 minutes. However, unlike you, it felt like spring. It’s still quite “warm” here in the Netherlands.
When you’re packing for a big update, the ones you won’t drop off that day you could just put the items in the box and write the order number on the box. Then print the shipping labels and manifest the next day 😊
I hope you continue to enjoy the snow for longer! I'm already over it and I'm also in Alberta T-T) The first few days of snow was pretty bad but I feel like it's cooled off enough that it's decent to be outside for longer than 4 seconds. I was really hoping to go out and do stuff before it got too cold but I don't have a car and I consider it too cold to walk outside for too long. I hope we get to see some more holiday shopping because I really love watching you decorate your place!
If you don’t already have them I really recommend heat cables for your roof! It keeps the overhead snow from falling/prevents ice damns that might end up ruining your roof!
Love your new coat. I love the snow, but not if I have to go out in it. I'm also not a fan of having to shovel it. We have a lot of pedestrian property that has to be shoveled when it snows, and the company that we used no longer comes to our area. I'm always hoping that we don't get any snow bec my husband is away a lot and it usually snows while he's gone. LOL. I'm too old for shoveling snow....I've had back & hip pain since I was in my 30's so now.....UGH! Just wondering...are you going to restock the Witch Hat sketchbook? I missed out on your last shop update bec I was in the Hosp and didn't even get around to going to your shop until after everything was said & done. I really want that sketchbook. I'm also going to be buying the bags when they come in. Hopefully, I'll be able to get everything I want in your next update/launch!
Ugh that Kal-Tire can be slow. There are a couple quiet places to work near there if you have a laptop! The shovelling with this last round of snow was a lot. 😅
Oh man did I feel that "I'm from a warmer climate, I don't have cold weather clothes!" I just moved to a much colder place from California and lemme tell you. Hoodies are just NOT enough.
love your boots they are so cute ,and ya lots of snow where you are ,My daughter used to live there , we have had snow here too but not that much. keep warm stay safe .
Unfortunately here in Calgary when it comes to winter time, there is no such thing as appointment, it's always first come first serve. Not sure why they allowed an appointment to be made. The same thing applied in Regina sk when I lived there.
will you buy more witch hat sketchbooks? I really enjoy the onces ive bought and would love to get more. Ive never enjoyed a sketchbook until yours. There so nice.
So confused about the tire changing situation, in Norway you drive into the shop when your appointment is and they change the tires while you sit in the car it takes like a few minutes😄
When we get a pick up we usually don’t print the manifest until they at the door. Granted theres time since its big pick ups. But if you’re going to head out instead just keep going until u print the manifest
No that’s not “how things go” if these places are going to make people wait for that long then maybe they shouldn’t be making so many appointments for that day if they can’t keep up.
Thats good they let you do your appointment down here in the states they would have been like well we couldn't get to your car in the time you scheduled so you'll need to scheduled a another appointment and try again.
Don't they know WHO YOU ARE?!! 🤣😝 Seriously though - I hate when garage's jerk people around with wait times - you booked the appointment - you should have had priority 😡 However.. It looks like you got some winter essentials shopping done & that was an excellent use of time 🥳 I would have ended up in Michael's for sure 😂
The shops around here don’t even do appointments, so you’re stuck as a walk in every time, and pretty much looking at 2 hours minimum. Some days you’ll get turned away completely.
Thing is, how would Canada Post know if you dropped your outgoing parcels into a street box or not? Because tossing into a street box is more or less the same as taking it to a desk. It seems like it would be difficult for them to enforce same day acceptance when they're the ones leaving the boxes untouched for 24 hrs at a time. I would think they just don't like promising 10 day delivery when shippers hang on to the parcels at home for a week until their friday ship days or whatever. 😅
@@BayleeJae Ah yes, I know you dont, but I do! 😁 And all my labels say that too, "be sure to bring to CP the same day," I assume it's just for accurate delivery standards purposes :P
You’re welcome. I hope my source is correct. I went in search for answers when I noticed the x2 rewards then the season special had 8 days to go. Posts on reddit say nov 21. There is a thread called double xp just started. Love your streams
Welcome to snow maintenance. I live in the snowbelt; hat, Baylee, you need a hat to keep your head warm, scarf, and a hood. Are you certain that coat’s warm enough? Kinda thin.
