Are you bailing hay or straw? Whàt you. showed when you got in the field it looked like straw that came out in rows from the combine. You mentioned a farmer had a field of wheat rows straw & Brian asked the farmer & he said you could bale it. You also said you had a field of cut hay laying on the ground. What you put your hand into looked like fresh golden straw. Looked like. the thick wind rows the combine spits out when you had a good yield of wheat. With your good weather & rain this year, I think your neighbor had a great field of wheat. If the hay was so heavy, why not take it with a single side of the rake like you did the other day. Less plugging of the bailer & rack. You cement job looked like a pro laid it Cole you & Farmer Tyler could go by Farmer Mac Guyver. You two can build so many things so easily.
so much hard work, people just do not appreciate farmers. Most young people of today have not a clue what it takes.. Love the drone music and video, Cole I know you will always thank your grandmother for buying you that drone. Be safe, God bless. Hope Tiffany is feeling great.
Always a pleasure to watch your content Cole! You have the ability to give us glimpses into Sonne Farms days with creative angles, drone, and humor. Thanks.
There is nothing nicer to see the three of you working together out that field and what a blessing it is to have the issues with so much grass and hay. What a grateful thing you guys thanks for the drone video call at all was really cool.
I sure enjoy your videos. Sometimes, it makes me wish my husband & I had been farming instead of trucking. I loved all the years we trucked, both together & in separate trucks, but to farm together would have been something, that's for sure. Thanks for letting me live vicariously thru you, your dad & uncle. Be safe, & enjoy your bountiful hay harvest. God bless 🙏🙏🙏
Hi Cole, I think you’re most all-around guy I ever seen between farming and concrete welding and fabricating. But I wanna just tell you one thing so you’ll be perfect. I’m a tool and diemaker machinist for 65 years and that annular tool you’re talking about has a proper name is a an end mill. 😎
Cole, God has blessed you. You are so lucky to be able to do what you love, to be very good at it, and on top of that, to be doing it with your dad. I love watching the two of you working side by side. It reminds me of when my dad was still alive and we worked together like you and Brian do. Cherish every day you get to do that. One thing though.... dude, you have GOT TO shut the engine down when you are pulling hay out of a plugged baler and hay machine. There are electronics involved there. Anything can happen in the electrical system.... One more thing. Brian, what happened to the song of the day? That's a video highlight!
I remember haying in SD. Two sickle mowers pulled off set behind a old truck. The little tool boxes and steel seats burning hot. Two trip rakes side by side and tripped by rope going to the truck cab. Long bucker wooden poles on the front of the truck pushed hay into piles, piles made hay stacks. Hay stacks were cut in half with barbed wire pulled back and forth. Moving hay meant pitch forks. Water was warm in Clorox jugs. No horses were used to pull the implements even though that was what they were designed for. You have it made lads.
Always interesting, Cole. I'm glad your hay crop is plentiful this year. Also, Sonne Farms doesn't mess around getting the bales hauled out of the field either. Thanks for the great video!
Cole, thank you for making these vlogs! I cannot imagine how much time you spend moving the camera(s)! I grew up on a 400 acre farm in west central Indiana & Dad raised black Angus & Herefords. I miss him so much. Give your Dad a hug for me please.
Sly & the Family Stone lyrics about "It's a Family Affair" don't exactly fit, but having Jeff out in the field with his bailer kinda fits the scene!---Look at that fluffy stuff...Cole, did you call it "whipped cream"?!
I can’t believe last year how you guys were scratching for any kind of hay and this year your equipment is fighting to deal with it. Must be an awesome feeling to have too much. How long ago do you think it’s been since you had hay like this?👍👍
windrows being almost too much is a great problem to have after the last few years. BTW watching you reach your hands into the machine gives me heart palps.
Now that is a good thing to have. A lot of hay to bail. I have used one of mag drills at work they sure are handy. That was cute watching the little puppy riding on the 4-wheeler.
You guys look like your gettin' two years' worth hay compared to last year! That little pouch looks like he is enjoying those 4 wheeler rides. That patch of yard grass at the end had me laughing, that might go beyond stripper. 🤣 Always look forward seeing your videos come up on my feed!
I don't mind watching you struggle with huge wind rows Much more pleasant than last year when you didn't have enough hay to winter your spectacular herd
Cole it's amazing how much of a fabricator you have become from when I started watching you're videos when I started to farm I had always replied on my dad to help me but he slowly removed himself from helping me and to this day I really appreciate him for that as I have been able to do just about anything that needs to be fixed maybe not lot a professional but it gets the job done
Awesome video. Seems like it was just yesterday that you guys were struggling to be able to cut and bail the roadsides. It's kool to see that you're getting better yields this year. Looks like Sonne was enjoying the 4 wheeler ride. 🚜🚜🚜
That little Sonne....he's becoming a good little farm dog❤ Cole every time u get in there to unclog stuff I get the " HEEBEE JEEBEES" Always stay extra careful Preeze??❤
Thanks for another great video Cole. It was interesting and enjoyable to watch for sure. Sonny really likes riding on the four wheeler. He is the king riding on there. Great. 😊 Your concrete pad really looks great. Nice job. The pieces you are making sure look good on there. Should hold your gate good and secure. That magnetic base drill set you have is a handy gadget to have. Works great. Never seen one with a magnetic base before. Nice 👍. Your hay is so thick and huge windrows. Wow. Hard for the baler to make it work. Makes for a lot of bales. Great to see all three of you working in the field together. Hi to uncle Jeff!!!!!!! Your drone footage today was absolutely outstanding Cole!!!!!!!!!! The drone shots and music gives you a whole new sense of perspective of the field and the operation of raking and baling and loading up the Bales to be removed and taken away for storage. Loved the drone footage today Cole!!!!!!! About it I guess. Thanks for everything. Take care and be safe. The Iowa farm boy. Steve. 😊👋👍✅💕🇺🇸🇺🇸
Nice gate install! So glad that weather improved and you guys have a better year for hay. I’m still laughing about the fish in the ditches! That pooch sure did take to farming, he looked like a natural riding with you. Now he needs his own helmet and glasses and he’ll be able to pass for Snoopy’s brother!😂🤣 or should I say Red Baron’s brother! Lol. Great video. ❤❤
Okay I'm stuck with Brian's song of the day. And that's all I gotta say about that 😂. Come on Cole let dad have his moment, some of us are the same age as your dad. We love his ism's and that's all I gotta say about that. Maybe you need a drawing, that Brian could select a song, some of late boomers 1958 like it when he mentions a song we haven't heard in years(they all got over played). Bring Back Song Of The Day. Please.😊😊
Good grief at the windrows fellas, not much side to side driving needed on those👀proud to see y’all having a blessed year with hay, hopefully the corn and beans will yield great also. Y’all take care 🇺🇸💪🏻🇺🇸
Tiny dog is a good 4-wheeler rider! The best thing I ever did with my mag drill Cole was build a stand for it to act like a drill press. Search it on RU-vid and you'll find all sorts of ideas to build one.
Love these step drills!!! Mag drills are great. I've never used one but I have seen one used some. My son who works in rail road yards uses them all of the time. He has 2.. Looks like this cutting is almost to good, if that can ever be!!
Cole that Mag drill is bad to the bone and i am praying that you all get so much hay and alphalpha that you dont know what to do with it. Love your content from another hands on man
You really need to get yourselves a twin rotor rake, claas rake. It's 2024 and you are still battling with an old finger wheel rake. It's like watching my great grandfather farm.
I love the panoramic drone view of that hayfield with the three of you working on it. That's gonna make some good eatin' for the cattle this winter. Do you ever have a year with so much hay that you can sell some?
Looks like your inventory of hay has come back! Don't forget to have Jeff tell us hi in subscriber land and maybe the Intern can show us her new nails.
Kudos Cole great job on fabricating those supports for the gate’s kinda glad to see you having problems with the hay hope you have that problem every year
Just a FYI. Cutting fluid works better than a lubricant (wd40) when drilling. A lubricant lets the slide instead of biting the material cause wear on bit and shorten the life of it. A coolant also works because your trying to cool the bit and what your drilling.
I heard on the radio a few days ago that southeat South Dakota had the wettest June on record and July was on pace to be the 2nd driest July until the last few days of the month.
Safety tip for the Magdrill: if using horizontally, make SURE you have a safety chain attached to something above it. If you lose power while the magnet is on, it's a'comin down and mighty fast. And they are HEAVY. It will easily break your foot, toe, ankle, whatever it hits. And his is a relatively small unit (that's what she said) the larger ones weigh even more. The drill pulled too much current and tripped the breaker, and down she came. Landed on my steel toe boots, so it just scared me more than anything. I was an idiot so you don't have to be.
I've seen Farmers on RU-vid that mount a barrel in front of their tractor when they have rows that are that big. It will push the roll down so it goes under your tractor with ease and into the Baylor easier.
I know Miss Ellie doesn’t like to ride with you in anything so I think it’s pretty neat ole’ Sonne does. Partner for you and Brian. Maybe he will ride in tractor to.
