I'm a little sad you didn't get dunked on. But well done! It took me and my college roommate weeks of coming back for a dozen or so attempts at a time to beat sans. We still argue over who did the winning attempt cause both of us remember doing it.

Best blind playthrough I have seen, thank you! Your policy of 'don't spoil, but do tell me when I miss something' is very effective and I am surprised I have never heard it before from other creators, for any games.

Something that may interest you are fan games, there are a TON of REALLY well made fan games based on alternate timelines and universes, most of the well made one are about alternate gene routes like DustTale and Disbelief papyrus, both you might find interesting and could play blind, but there's also positive ones with deep lore as well, such as Don't forget. All three of these are very well made, anyways, try them if you'd like!

Regardless of what's theorized about Chara, I don't think they were always like this. Like Chara says, your guidance made them realize just how much 'fun' discriminate killing is. So really, it's your fault for going down that path. Chara -- while still alive -- wanted revenge on humans, but clearly didn't hate monsters. That might've changed when Asriel stopped Chara from getting revenge...
@rickypedia999

True. There is a strong implication in the true pacifist ending that Chara saves Frisk during the Asriel fight.

They were always evil
@AnimeSimp234
@AnimeSimp234 2 года назад
Sorry, I know this comment is over a year old but I just need to chime in on this because I find it so fascinating. It's a big argument in the community, even still. Was Chara always completely evil? We know that, to begin with, they hated humanity. But did they always want to just destroy everything, monsters included and the world? It's up for debate, there is no canon answer, at least not yet and there probably won't ever be. But I will say, I do find it interesting how it's implied Chara is with us in ALL the routes, even pacifist. The actions the player takes largely seem to shape what direction Chara goes in. I think the big question is, is Chara only able to take over once you sink to the "dark side" we'll call it? And so the only reason Chara never seems to influence things in other routes is because they literally aren't able to? If so, I would argue Chara truly is completely and 100% evil. The only reason they weren't able to have influence is because they never had the chance to since you never once went down the dark path. However, I also don't think it's off the table for Chara to be a being who's defined by the actions the player takes, largely at least. I mean, Chara still hates humanity no matter what, because that was a trait they had long before the player and Frisk ever came into contact with them. But it's possible that the influence of the player led Chara to being able to possess Frisk, and, depending on what you choose, that shapes Chara's feelings, emotions and path too. It's also possible that if you don't do a genocide route, Chara never fully "awakens" as it were, and instead would forever remain as the seemingly neutral narrator they are during a regular neutral and pacifist playthrough. It's all up in the air and for debate of course. But these are my thoughts, for the no one who cared. xD

Deltarune is great and all, and i do recommend it, but if you wanted to play a shorter game or just something different first im sure everyone would be fine with it. I will say Deltarune is much shorter then undertale, at least what is out now is anyway. like, it took you longer to beat sans than it should to beat all of deltarune.

I'm just gonna jump on here real quick and remind you that Chara (or Whack in this playthrough) has been present since the start of the game,they only act as a narrator for every playthrough. They have 0 input to whatever path you choose to go down on, they didn't force you to do genocide in the same way they didn't force you to do the Pacifist ending . At the end of genocide Chara kept stressing the point that it was you who made the choices that led to the genocide ending, and when they said: "You think you are above consequences." They were essentially calling you out for toying with the lives of everyone in the underground, which I also remind you is exactly what Flowey did. Lastly Chara said it themselves that when they woke up they were confused because their last memory was of Asriels death when he had Chara's soul,but through your actions you give them purpose: Neutral Run - they help you navigate through the underground through narration and translate monster dialogue. Pacifist - they transfer their happy memories with Asriel to get him to come back to his senses. Genocide - you teach them to kill and thanks to the effects of LV (Level of Violence) they start caring less and less about YOU killing everyone they once knew and loved, since they're kinda stuck with you they sort of have no choice, but even after everything is said and done they make sure you don't forget that it was YOU who caused the genocide, you were the one Determined to keep killing monsters, your the one who kept pressing FIGHT not them. TL;DR - C'mon man, don't turn Chara into a scapegoat too, even Sans and Flowey call you out for going down the path of genocide. Just saying. Oh and lastly: when Asriel was briefly talking about Chara, he never said that they were a bad person, if anything I assume Asriel probably idolized Chara since they were not only their best friend and sibling but also a human, so as a kid I imagine Asriel probably thought Chara was cool or something and put them on a pedestal but when he finally realized he was wrong, he probably became a little disillusioned since Chara wasn't the perfect person he thought they were, but that doesn't mean they were a bad person either, if anything it just means that Asriel finally started to see Chara's faults as a person. I truly believe that Chara did intend to break the barrier just like Asgore would attempt years later, but since Asriel embodied Toriels Pacifist ideology, he refused to kill anyone which led to his death and essentially made Chara's death pointless. Without your input Chara officially killed only one person, themselves ( and the only kills Chara has in genocide that wasn't caused by you would be Asgore and Flowey...which only happened after you have LV20, I think by that point you've crossed the point of no return).

@nothership4191
@nothership4191 3 года назад
Hey! Congrats on beating Sans - I gave up after around fifty attempts and never went back to it. Love the content, and I'll probably follow whatever you decide to do next as soon as I catch up on the Persona 4 LP. As far as recommendations go, I have a couple (broken down by categories that line up with what you've played before). (J)RPGs Deltarune: I guarantee you will end up playing this for the channel at some point - it’s Toby Fox’s spiritual-successor-and-not-quite-sequel to Undertale. Play it. It’s very good. Maybe even better than Undertale. LISA: The Painful: Cult classic - people compare it to Undertale, and there is some overlap (indie RPG project that focuses primarily on telling a character story) but the two are pretty different - you described Genocide as a sobering experience, and I would put the lighter moments of LISA on that level. It deals with some heavy themes (abuse, family, trauma) and can be downright frustrating to play at some points, but that’s part of what makes it work. I don’t know if it’s a great game for an LP (I’ve only seen two LPs of it and neither were great), but it might be worth a try. Consider this one a partial recommendation. Death Games (Danganronpa/Zero Escape-style) Your Turn to Die: I recommended this when you finished Somnium Files and I’m going to recommend it again - it’s a DR/ZE style game where the gimmick is you vote people out Survivor-style. Great characters, great mysteries - it’s my favorite game in this genre (possibly one of my top five favorite games period) and the one that got me into DR in the first place. The only reason to avoid it would be that it’s currently unfinished - as far as I can tell Nankidai is the sole developer. He’s released installments about twice a year since 2017 and we’re now probably more than halfway through, but it’ll still be a while before it ends. (It's also a fantranslation, but vgperson does good work - the translation is excellent.) Birth ME: Code: Honestly, I don’t know if I’d call this a recommendation, since I didn’t particularly enjoy this one, but it exists. It has a really cool premise (a Zero-Escape style game where you’re the mastermind) that I wish was used on a better game. I can’t really say why I didn’t like it without spoiling it, which I won’t do in case you do decide to play it. Also, there are some moments that probably ought to have a content warning - nothing dramatically worse than games you’ve already played, but bad enough that it’s one of the few things I’m mentioning in this not-recommendation. I Assumed The Internet Had Spoiled Everyone On Some Games But You Somehow Managed To Play Undertale Blind In 2020 So It’s Worth A Shot Doki Doki Literature Club: It’s a small-team visual novel, but it’s exceptionally well written and deals with some serious themes with startling maturity. If you somehow don’t know more about it than that, avoid any other information before playing.

Flowey represents a player who's done all he can in a game to the point he's become despondent and feels disconnected to everything and he's desperately trying to find or do something new to be engaged with, he's the kind of player who treats a game like a sandbox where you can do anything. The first fallen human, WHACK (or Chara, the canon name) represents a player who only cares about seeing the score rise. This player is completely disconnected from the plot and plights of these fictional pixels, after all, it's just a game. They skip dialog/cutscenes (represented by the player walking through all of the puzzles and bosses' speeches).They kill everything because that means your level rises. They pick options that get you shiny loot or money at the expense of these fictional characters. This player never tries to self-insert or feel for these characters. It's free exp, after all. And once they "solved" the game (killed everything, reached max level, etc), they never play the game again and remove it from their harddrive (erase the world) and move onto another game (another world).

Definitely one of the best playthroughs of this game out there! If you're looking for other games, here are some candidates (along with some descriptions of the styles, to see if any pique your interest.) -Deltarune - It's basically Undertale 2, except...well, kind of not...actually it's complicated. Only the Demo is out right now (which is rather long, but does feel incomplete), and most of the "Good Stuff" in it-the stuff that really hits the Undertale-esque levels of fascinating storytelling-is buried deep either in hard-to-find Secrets and references to obscure things from the first game (like W.D. Gaster), or at the very end. The bulk of the game is a lot of very simple fun, but I personally feel that Toby is saving the interesting stuff for when the full game comes out. Point is, it's hard to get "the full experience" (which is really cool) right now without doing a lot of research online. If you feel like doing that, definitely recommended-just not sure how well it would translate into a Let's Play (would be interesting to see, though.) -Hollow Knight - One of my personal favorites. It's a metroidvania game with some Souls-like elements, but the difficulty is really fair (except for some DLC challenges, which are literally impossible!!!) and the exploration is absolutely stupendous. Lots of story and lore and characters, the gameplay is engaging, the music is fantastic, and it's a game where beating it 100% (actually 112%, because of the free DLC) is worth it every step of the way. Not an RPG or anything (which seems to be your main focus on the channel), but still absolutely phenomenal, and criminally underpriced. -Outer Wilds - Not to be confused with Outer Worlds. This game has some of the best exploration and mystery-solving I've ever seen-plus it's a wish-fullfillment sort of thing for every kid who's ever wanted to go to space. Best played as blind as possible, due to spoilers actually affecting how you would play. Again fairly low on any RPG elements, but really good. Anyway, don't know if any of those (outside of Deltarune) would interest you, but thought I'd leave them here. Have a great day!

This playthrough was amazing, I love how you weren't spoiled for anything and formed your own opinions instead of being influenced too much by comments and such.(I m sure like maybe you had been spoiled a bit but not enough to ruin the playthrough) Whack Was the text box when they speak to you they use the font used in the little text box and they are present in all playthroughs, I think when you start killing it influences them more and they gradually start forcing options upon you, (Like how eventually Whack automatically steps through puzzles and steps forwards when Sans threats you, when you auto attack him, Asgore, and Flowey ) so by reaching level 20 you basically force them into being some how through sheer power I guess. Whack isnt evil neccesarily but you basically drive the Narrator (Whack) insane so he comes after you at the end.
