One is a spinto tenor the other a a speiltenor different voices different ranges they are all awesome

@@rosalacerda5266 and he is the only one with no formal training. Ignazio's parents took out loans to pay for voice lessons. Piero was also studying opera at the time. Gianluca is just a natural.

There was literally not one genuine opera singer in the whole bunch. Even the Il Volo are mediocre tenors who didn't even sing opera.

I told my neighbors next door (military family stationed in Italy for several years) and they immediately got tickets in the same row. It sold out quickly, but resale tickets are still available. I am very excited to be able to see them in person. I just hope the new Omicron variant of COVID doesn't spoil everything!!!! Il Volo appeared on the last show of one season of "America's Got Talent." It was very early on, maybe 2011 or 2012. They weren't as good as they are now, but way, way above average.

the problem is that someone is inflating their real talent by calling it by a high-falootin' name. That's wrong headed: it's like callig Bazooka bubblegum "haute cuisine". That's a problem. Frankly, its the kind of thinking that leads kids to blow out their larynxes by age 16, and ruining them for any future singing. It's happened before, and it will happen again, so long as there are goo-goo-eyed adults who misbehave.

@@nedcrouch3202 touched on a good point, even if that happens though it's not the end of the world, just gotta train your voice back to health after the injury, for some people it's months but for some it's years. Doesn't mean you can't come back from it just an uphill battle.

Opera is technically incredibly demanding because you have to sing accurately, probably in a foreign language, with sufficient resonance to be heard over an orchestra without amplification, in a way that is emotionally rich, and dramatically plausible. It's one of those things that the more opera you hear, the more you realise what it ought to sound like.

@@brianaguilar8283 and many opera singers are not native English speakers. However, most professional opera singers will have a repertoire that spans several languages. Relatively few operas were written in English in the 18th Century (excepting some by Handel), 19th (save for G&S perhaps) and the first half of the 20th Century. Which severely limits the repertoire. So, as I said, most opera singer will probably sing regularly in a languages other than their native tongue.

Frankly, I find their choice of song horrible and I also find their voices to generally be not appealing (with the slight exception of the person at 9:44 (Sergiu Braga) who has a good natural voice but is unfortunately manufacturing the sound on most of the notes so we can't hear his beautiful voice). In fact my second criticism, is that their sound is too forward and therefore doesn't have the spin of an operatic voice. They haven't been trained and yet are singing heavy arias such as Nessun Dorma with a light, airy sound that is too heavy. Instead, they should aim to produce (with their voice), a dark sound that is full but not heavy - light on the vocal chords. It is unfair for the singers and not their fault because they have been thrown into the spotlight without realising how damaging their singing is to their own voice - when they are not mature enough to even know the limits of their voice. My last criticism is that this video has classified - wrongly - the songs that they have sung as 'opera'. The only real 'opera song' or aria in this video is "Nessun Dorma" which seems to be a favourite on the XFactor, Britain's Got Talent etc... I agree. I've watched 'em mature over the years. They're some good looking young men with so very different ravishing voices, yet blend beautifully together. Ignazio Boschetto delivers force without restraint and such ease; impressive!

@@Eturoel I agree as well. IL VOLO is a treasure and they do not sing any genre of music all the time. They call themselves Pop Opera singers,, and I think that is a good term to describe them. Others call it Popra, which is too cutsey to me.

No, Ignazio is not the only talented member of IL VOLO … he would be the first to say that Piero and Gianluca are equally and uniquely talented. They can pursue individual careers but it’s so gratifying that they have been performing from 2009 to 2021. I hope they will still be performing together for many more years.

sylvio poitrais, May I suggest that you check out an Asian show on RU-vid called SUPER VOCAL which has classically trained guys that do quite a few operas. LA VITA, NESSUN DORMA, LUNA, and others VOLARE too. Despite being Asian they pronounce the words very well. Some good songs in English they do are THE SOUND OF SILENCE, I DREAMED A DREAM where one of the guys singing it reached a D8. Then theres THE MUSIC OF THE NIGHT and CAN YOU FEEL THE LOVE TONIGHT? Please check them out, just type in first SUPER VOCAL then the song title.

Maybe, but that first song was a Neapolitan song and was sung in the Neapolitan language, not Italian, and none of those singers could pronounce the words properly... which is normal for non-Neapolitan Italians.

@ANITA Ospedale ​ If you think Italian and Neapolitan are the same language, then you are indeed very stupid. They do have some similarities but so do Italian and Spanish. Do you think Italian and Spanish are the same language? Neapolitan is only considered a dialect because it is not the principal language of the country in which it is spoken and is only spoken by a minority of the people. Today most Neapolitans cannot even read and write Neapolitan and they speak it very poorly.

It is the music that makes us feel what they sing!
