word of caution..using water soaked rocks for a firepit is dangerous..the rocks soak the water deep inside of the rock that may have been in the water for hundreds of years can explode because superheated steam will build high pressure inside the rocks core. This will cause the rock to explode like a grenade and scattering your fire 3 or 4 meters while sending rock fragment with such force it could kill your or hurt anyone near the firepit..I see it happen once, luckily we wasn't injured but it sure got our adrenaline going and made a note to never use wet rocks around a campfire!

It’s true, my ex made sweat lodges and he told me this when we were collecting rocks for it
@recondrone6826
@recondrone6826 Год назад
@@ritajimmie3361 the rocks we were using came from a small rocky creek bed that was just a few inches higher than the water level so they probably got submerged every time it rained for the past 10,000 years. We were camping the night before deer season near the water and the temps dipped down to close to brutal 10-F that we wasn't anticipating so we heated the rocks to place in our sleeping bags to stay a bit warmer. So these rocks were directly in the fire for 30 to 40 mins before one exploded!

just asking wouldn't it be better to set up camp further in the tree line, away from the wind coming off the water, more sheltered? just asking as it looks very cold! I'd insulate the crap out of that shelter with heaps more branches, great set up though!!

Okay guys, get some decent size rocks. Then dig a shallow pit where you intend to have a fire. Ring the pit with the stones. Then light a fire with a wooden floor and dried bows.

Next time, heat a small stone on fire, dig up the ground, bury it, and sleep on it. It will become a South Korean-style underheating floor. Stack a few layers of rocks when making a fire. Then heat a flat thin rock over a fire and grill meat on it. It will be a delicious steak. I like videos like this more than videos of pitching a tent and camping or burning a stove. But don't drink river water or snow, it's dangerous

I call bs because when he supposedly went for a swim in the freezing water and casually just walked over to his shelter he wasn’t even shivering, any one that just went into ice cold water would be I don’t care who you are I’m sorry but not believable pal Also how u casually just picked up the huge rock without any struggle tells me it’s fake

Excellent video and another great shelter. I like how you kayak in the middle of winter. My cousin and I built wood and canvas kayaks in the early 60s. Spent a lot of time kayaking on the Wisconsin River, state of Wisconsin, USA, and camping on sandbars, with our minimal gear stuffed into our kayaks like you do. Thanks for the video and adventure!😊

I just wanted to say that I just stumbled upon your channel today and I'm really mesmerized by your videos, by your character. I'm in really bad place mentally and physically and in general in my life and always wanted to at least sometimes be able to live like you. I always felt that calling from the wild and wanted to have that skills that could let me stop being afraid about myself alone in that kind of situations and alone in general. Also I always loved Nordic nations and someone who lives just like I wanted to, someone being a beautiful Fin (wow even your face has those distinct Saami genetic features). I would really love to at least slowly introduce myself to that kind of life, even if not to all stuff that you do but there's a lot of dark things that consume me, my life and last bits of my strength 😔😓 I hope that at least you would be still connected to the best stuff nature has to offer and I hope that you would find all that you seek deep within you. Thank you for being here alive...
