If this doesn't work. Make sure to comment details like What game is it? Where did it come from? Commenting "Doesn't work" will not get you anywhere as different games may require different fixes. :) You could also join our discord which is in the description if you wanna talk to people about it.
I have a question for you and maybe I just missed this in the video but what would be the best way to get the game onto the deck? Torrenting it on my PC and then transfering it to the deck vía USB or would torrenting on the deck work. Mind you I would need a VPN on my deck since spectrum really likes to DMCA me if I even touch a torrent

I'm only able to get so much enjoyment on the deck thanks to you and your guides. Thank you! Never used Lutris before, didn't think installing Windows games on Linux would be nothing more than buggy, but this just works! Seeing it install Windows dependencies and work normally is mind blowing! Wine has truly come a long way and part of that is thanks to Valve's work on Proton.

Anyone having trouble with the run exe inside wine prefix not working. 1. Open Dolphin 2. Right click a random folder 3. Open Folder With > Other application 4. Select system > dolphin 5. Check "Remember application association for all files" 6. Hit Ok 7. Restart steam deck 8. Ta da!
I use Pop_OS (a different linux distro) and for me the easiest way is to install like you did, but then add the resulting exe to steam as a non steam game, then manage>properties>compatibility and force a recent proton version. It's much simpler than looking for the dependencies!

Thanks so much for this tutorial everything has been working flawless for me so far on Steam os 3.4.8 at the time of this comment. I had one game that wouldn’t run (F.E.A.R 3) and I installed the appropriate dependencies that I saw on the installer through Lutris’s wine tricks menu for visual c++ 2008 and the extra modules that go for Visual c++ 2008 and then game ran flawlessly! Dude you’re the man. I’m not sure I would have ever gotten anywhere without this video. Got stray, cyberpunks and nba 2k running with much of the information in this video. Stray worked flawlessly but cyberpunk and nba 2k I just could not get to load in Lutris but tinkering, reading, trail and error prevailed and I simple added the latter two to steam. I’ve gotta dig in and see why everything is not running directly from lutris. I am just brand new to Linux and was so tempted to throw windows on an sd card at first but I’m happy I didn’t now!

One thing i would like to add.. this tutorial is about installing games..but if the game is already installed, then one can directly mention the prefix folder, and set the executable as the game executable and it's good to go.. Sometimes game launchers need arguments to launch in windows too.. Another reason why it might sometimes not launch even if all dependencies are present.. Lutris works much better with other non linux partitions like ntfs, while steam has problems sometimes.. And finally, prefix folder can be same for different games..but, if that one folder gets messed up, all games break.. So one can chose to have a backup of that prefix folder, and if with a new install something breaks, just delete the current one and get a copy from that backup.. The reason one might want to do this is, if there are 10 games, each with its own prefix folder, it takes up a lot of space..as prefix folders can be in the range of 800-100MBs.. But if one has only two, with one backup and another one working one.. Then space taken up is much less as then the games share the required dependencies and not install everything again and again in each prefix.. Basically if the initial intended OS versions match for the games, everything should work nicely with a single prefix folder.. Very helpful video...

I'm getting "invalid Wine prefix path" error. Made a lutris prefix folder like you have and created the folder for the game I want to install. Don't know what I'm missing. Any help would be appreciated 🙏
10/10 Tutorial and worked first try. Actually, i took a game i had already installed on my desktop and moved the game files over via Warpinator, then ran it through lutris and got the dependencies and it worked first try. I don't totally recommend just moving the game files over straight from your computer since it could cause issues but just confirming that it *can* work
Hi your video is so helpful THANK YOU!! I tried other guides and it did not work but this one did !! I found Lutris and ProtonUp in Discover Store and just followed what you instructed. And I found that it was much easier for me to install the games in my PC and just copy the installed folder in my steamdeck and just go to the last part of just adding the game also I was able to change the Poster Icon , Header and Font on the Steam Image Library it look so much better No Blank Icons on my Library!! ^_^
For some reason TMNT shredder's revenge installed through Lutris won't allow me to use the steamdeck controlls when playing the game in game mode. I can play it just fine in Lutris and even in steam on the desktop mode. The other two games I have installed seem to work fine either way. Any clue?
Hey, I followed the entirety of your instructions, but when I went to play the game I got the error - Invalid Wine prefix path /home/deck/Lutris/Lutris Prefixes/ULTRAKILL, make sure to create the prefix before saving to a registry. I created a folder called Lutris, and then separate folders inside for games and prefixes, however Lutris, or something deletes to prefix folders when I go to play the game. Why?

I don't know what is the reason behind lutris not appearing in the software center, but for me it was there. Yet, in the end i did with the alternative way you showed, as the Lutris from the Software center when i started just loaded, and crashed to desktop in a second. Installing Lutris from Flatpak became much more easier since your video, which is also really cool. Really helpful video thanks a lot!
Can be set wherever you want, preferably in a location you know and has space.. although strictly not necessary, but preferably in a linux compatible file system/partition.. Otherwise it will use wine prefix default location..
