God is so wonderful to give us glimpses of His beauty while we are here on this earth. I can only imagine what breathtaking beauty awaits us when we get to Heaven!
Remember the fourth commandment KJV reminds us of Genesis 2:2&3. God never changes Jesus is our example. We’ve all been deceived. It was roman emperor Constantine in 321 A.D. after generations of Christian persecution who thought to change God’s times and laws. Jesus said don’t be deceived. And if you love Me KEEP MY COMMANDMENTS.
Oh Mary, I know it was hard to cut down that tree. A few years ago I had to decide to have an old dogwood in my yard cut down. It was more than 50 years old and had been the victim of droughts, bad winter storms, and another tree falling right next to it and grazing its side. Bugs were inside the trunk and it was slowly dying before my eyes. I cried so bad the day it was cut down. My neighbor took a large piece of the trunk and had a man make a lovely wooden bowl from a section of it. I treasure that bowl! Take care.
I think this might be my favorite video! Everything looks so pretty. And like you I was in awe of seeing the northern lights. I never dreamed of getting to see them from my front yard in Alabama! The scripture “the heavens declare the glory of the Lord” came to mind as I watched. His creation never fails to cause awe.
I forgot, I love how you tell us the names of birds and point out their sounds. The cardinal is beautiful. You may be use to seeing them. There is a saying that if a cardinal visits you, it is an angel watching over you. Have you ever heard this before?
I have just re-watched this video. Wow, but your garden is simply spectacular! I understand why you took down a couple trees, but when that spruce fell over, I just cried.....I am rather weepy since my husband passed away. Like you, I also adore trees - we had about a quarter acre garden around our house of some 45 years, and as I love trees, and decidious shade is vital in our hot African weather, I had planted about 25 mature decidious trees. The person who bought our house in 2018, decided to take every single green thing out of the garden area!!!! He put concrete all around the house, creating a bland parking area...oh well. I would have loved to have spent a fe tranquil hours in your serene garden, Mary - always loved Ohio, and those birds just send me into Heaven! And, wow, what a privilege to see the aurora!!!
I know I’ve told you before, but I just can’t say it enough…everything you touch turns out beautiful. Your property looks so peaceful. Pure tranquility!! Your gardens are always amazing. I have dappled shade gardens in my front yard and I struggle with what to plant, and making it look nice. You’re just a natural!! ❤
Mary, you and your husband created a beautiful and peaceful area that can be a real joy to behold. It must just be very peaceful to just sit and relax in the evening. Thank you for taking me along as you created this beautiful haven. See you next time, and yes, God is Great.
I feel the same way you do about trees…I hate to fell a tree, but you made the right decision to remove this one…what a difference…let there be light! The neighboring trees will love it! A delightful panorama awaits! I know you gave it a lot of thought before making the decision to go with it and again it was a good choice! Everything is going to be amazing when it all comes to fruition! Knee pads Mary knee pads…save those knees for your later years girlfriend! ☺️ You’re blessed beyond measure! ❤
I believe taking it down is the correct long-term choice.... My father had a spruce about that distance from his house and it got well over 100 feet tall.,... and became too big to deal with.
YES I agree about the knee pads , and Please John wear eye protection when using a chainsaw , all of that debris flying around it only takes a second to put a pair of safety glasses on. Your eyes should always be protected . Motherly advice😊
Your decisions were 100% correct, Mary. I laughed out loud when you said that your wall wouldn't be anything like a John wall! It would be pretty hard to surpass the walls he makes, but yours looks great, too! You and John are a dynamic duo. My favorite videos are of you two working together. Your creations always are absolutely beautiful and honoring of God. The background music is wonderful, too!
You are the hardest worker ever! Those rocks were heavy and you were throwing them around like nothing!!😂 Your yard is so peaceful and beautiful and everything you do just makes it look better! 💜
I might have missed it but I'd love to see the view from the deck with the spruce down. With all the plants that you added to your beds I think it's okay to cut down one tree especially to make other trees healthier. Beautiful as always!
You make me chuckle, Mary-you said you’re impatient. IN A MILLION YEARS, u aren’t impatient. Omgosh you’re the picture of patience from what I can see ❤ thank you for this video. I love your property-the birds, forest, etc. so peaceful
All the hard work you and your husband did removing the trees, and redoing that whole side of your yard is A M A Z I N G!!! I'm too old for any major yard 'reno's' now, but I have done in the past and I know how laborious it is.....but so satisfying when you see the finished results!! You are right.....one job always leads into another very quickly! Everything looks so manicured and just really and truly beautiful. Now you can enjoy the view from the top of the hill to the firepit area and visa versa! Well done! Can't get over how much your son looks like his Dad! I thought it was him at first! The northern lights were spectacular! Glad you got to experience it! ~~M~~
I got to see the northern lights for the first time that night as well. I was brought to tears at the beauty. It was very much a God moment for me. Seeing them has been on my bucket list my whole life. I told my husband I don’t want to cross it off because I want to see it again. Absolutely amazingly beautiful! So much more than I expected and hoped. I can’t imagine how they must be further north.
I love how you use what you have without going out and buying expensive new stuff. I also admire your embrace of the woodland setting you live in!!! I wish I had just half your energy!!! I enjoy your videos, your calm narration, and content. God Bless!!!
Oh my what a beautiful place you have. Your hard work is so very evident. God's creation shows up in every blade of grass, and it is spectacular. Thank-you for sharing
Mary and John you guys never cease to amaze me. Such a beautiful place, so peaceful. You deserve to relax ,have fun with your families. God Bless, Rebekah I never get tired of God's creations.
Hi Mary, I know I have said it before, but I will say it again, you have got to be the hardest working lady I know of! And if I had your energy, wow, I would be so happy!!! Thank you for this video Mary, it inspired me to get busy in my own yard! God Bless!
Hiya Mary!!! I am a big fan. Thank you for all the inspiration, calmness, and love that you give to your channel. I am certain that I don't speak just for myself. You are a blessing!!! I live in Northern Canada, I mean, "The Artic Circle"!! Iqaluit, Nunavut, to be exact. I have the absolute privilege and belessing to see the Northern Lights frequently. They are truly a wonder and the way they dance, spectacular!!!! Again, thank you, well, for you!!!! ❤
I thoroughly enjoyed watching you work outdoors this spring 2024! I used to work that diligently, and now at age 72, I pace myself. Thank you for the idea of straw atop grass seed…will be using that! Your property looks luscious and so beautifully tended! I love it!
Wow. You are so strong Mary! And so incredibly talented! I have totes of projects that I can’t quite get to because of health issues - but I’m not ready to give up! My inspiration comes from you. So glad you got to see the northern lights! The first time we see them we are most certainly in awe of the world our Heavenly Father created. Visiting your area and staying in one of your cottages is on my bucket list!
It's so hard for me to sometimes sit through videos of people working in the yard or cleaning when there's so much to be done around my house, but your videos are addicting, they are so inspiring and contagious..I feel you are a kindred soul..❤
I thought at the beginning of the video when you were talking about the birds. “The glory of God” we are so blessed if we just take the time to look. Then you talked about the northern lights and mentioned the glory of God. We truly are blessed.❤
How wonderful you and family got to see the Northern Lights! What a treat! I enjoyed this video so much! Partly because Ohio is so different from southern California! Delightful to watch you improving your yards! Thank you! Enjoy!
This is definitely not meant as a dreaded "bottom comment" but I must admit it gave me the willies when you were reaching into the leafy piles in search of rocks; do you have venomous snakes there? Maybe not so my fears were unfounded! Thank you for another wonderful video, especially pointing out the beauty of God's creation with the northern lights.
Wow, you know the name of so many plants. I didn't know you could see the Northern Lights as far as Ohio. Thank you for the allowing me to see the beauty of the Northern Lights
I know exactly how you feel about cutting down good trees, but sometimes it is just for the best. We have several evergreens planted too close together, so we cut one down and gave it to my neighbor to use for her Christmas tree. Now the others are growing much better.
Mary and John your out side space is so Beautiful it's like a Park. The pond, trees and all the beautiful flowers. Enjoy your summer with family. God Bless you folks. From Nevada😊 I always enjoy your videos Mary 😊
You folks have your own little Pardice . Your home and yard are Beautiful. Mary your like a little bee buzzing around doing a project. It must be so satisfying. Enjoy the Summer Once again enjoyed your video. 😊
Everything turned out amazing. I just can't believe the hard work . But when you have a vision it just keeps going. I would love to have a back yard with the pond. Have a wonderful summer. Joyce
I know we are not supposed to be jealous but I can't even begin to imagine living in a beautiful patch of paradise like you and John, have worked so hard to make it so cozy and peaceful. I live in the suburbs and have to drive to the park to see large amounts of grass and trees. I work in my garden when it's below 90°, I live outside of New Orleans. We may have great food but we have lousy weather!! 😢 Great job and thanks for your wonderful creativity to inspire us with!! 😊😅
Wisteria would have been nice on the swing set with hanging flower baskets until the Wisteria got going ❤! You could always add to it for a pathway with other climbing plants. Maybe leading to a secret garden. With natural stone pavers level with the ground ❤! It's so beautiful the way you have it look natural as well as intentional !!!
Mary, I too don't like seeing trees taken down; however, what you've created is absolutely outstanding in design and creativity! I've said this about you before and I need to say it again: You're the hardest working person on RU-vid, full stop! I so appreciate your sharing your vision with us. I'm humbled by your dedication to making your home a very special place. ❤
How beautiful! It is very hard to take out trees, but wow what a difference! We're about to take out a bunch of overgrown trees in our yard & I can't wait to replant the area. You have given me lots of ideas!
I love viburnum too! I have one I planted in front of my bedroom window so I can smell it when the window is open in the spring. My grandma always had one along the walkway to her back door and I loved smelling that, it brings me back!
I grew up and lived half of my life in Labrador and seeing the northern lights was a regular occurrence. There is a song, The Northern Lights of Labrador. I have been living in Surrey, British Columbia for 25 years in a city, so we don't see much. As children we were told not to whistle at them or they will come down and take you away. Of course we all whistled and they did seem to come down and closer but they didn't take us away.LOL. Mary, I am against cutting down trees too but your whole outdoor space looks so much better. The fact that you planted things good for the area that attacks butterflies is a positive. When you moved the rocks, I was saying out loud, look at her go! I miss those days. I couldn't wait for others either. If I thought I could do it, I did. I once cut down a huge tree whose roots were close to my house. I only used a small dollar tree pruning saw and it got the job done. It is regrowing now but we now live down the road. Where we are now is a small garden full of river rock. After 10 years here it is taken over by wild morning glory and bishops weeds. I hope I feel better soon to tackle it. Your creativity and endurance are impressive.❤
Mary, I’m watching this in England, at 06.30 am, with my iPad in one hand and a cup of tea in the other, feeling utterly slothful in comparison to your hardworking self! For a petite lady you certainly pack a punch. Your home is so beautiful, and it’s particularly fascinating to see and hear birds that aren’t native in the UK. This has been one of my favourite videos, and I thank you for letting us share the benefits of all your effort and artistic imagination.
Your yard Mary is absolutely gorgeous !!! We lived in Wisconsin and our yard was beautiful too but then we moved to Idaho and it’s totally different here for sure but still fun ! Love watching Mary !! God bless !!
I wish I had your work ethic then maybe my yard could be as beautiful as yours, but then again probably not. Your vision of what will be the end result is amazing. Beautiful job once again.
Your backyard landscaping looks amazing! I know it was SO MUCH work-but I wished I could have been back there helping you all while smelling the lilac!!
Hello Mary!!! Such a beautiful outside space!!! I love the rock wall you created!!! I hate to have trees cut down but sometimes we have to. It really opened up your space!!! It turned out beautifully!!! Take care and God bless 😊❤
I love your changes! I love trees too but sometimes you need to make tough decisions. You have wonderful vision and it was so enjoyable to come along with you on your project!
You accomplish so much in so little time. Everything looks so wonderful. How do you lift those huge rocks? I love your property. It would be my dream to have something like yours. I am 77 now and am able to garden and create at my friend's property. It is so awesome to be able to work in nature. I love seeing the bunnies and birds. They love it when I pull weeds and disturb the earth so they can get worms and bugs, they come so close I can almost touch them. Thank you for sharing all your hard work with us.
Wow Mary. Looks great! So glad the northern lights were visible. We had cloudy weather here in southern Maryland. My southern relatives shared nice photos. ❤
I am not an outdoor person, mainly because i have to wear sunscreen ALL the time outdoors, otherwise my skin gets very irritated not sunburned. But if had a yard like your's I would make that sacrifice just to be surrounded by gods nature. Its beautiful and irradiates peace .
I love watching your videos and I am not sure that I have ever left a comment before. I find your videos relaxing and informative. BUT, I also live vicariously through you!! I have had 2 back surgeries so many of the outdoor activities I used to do I cant anymore. My husband does help with our yard but I used to get so much pleasure out of the physical effort involved. I loved watching you move the rocks because that is what I use to do. I live in CA but have always dreamed of living "in he woods" as you do. Your home looks like such a haven, inside and out. Your family is truly blessed with all the hard work you put into your home.
