Thanks for posting this info, I've been pondering the idea of putting a used oil injection system into the door of my 5036 central boiler, not as ideal as side mount but I know I can make it work, my problem going to be keeping the oil warm as the boiler is outside .

@AndyFromm 2 года назад
Mine is outside also but I ran the oil lines along with my water lines and I circulate the oil in a loop. As far as going through the door, thats kinda how my old indoor unit was but it was oil only so I don't know how you'd control the air if you want to also burn wood. Thanks for checking it out and commenting, good luck.

I love it, wish I could find a onboard air pump though so I don't have to use my compressor. Thanks Mark!

@@AndyFromm how much air pressure and volume does it require?
@AndyFromm
@AndyFromm 2 года назад
@@OilHist i believe i run around 12 psi air pressure depending on the oil. I can't find specific on my nozzle but the next closest (30609-11) say it would be about 1 cfm at 5psi. I am running the delavan 30609-28 syphon nozzle. I would love to swap to a vane pump on the burner instead of the compressed air.

Have you thought about taking a 12 volt compressor nd tank setup off of a planter? I have one with a 3 gal air tank. Runs on 12 vdc should be enough to put in addition on your setup maybe.

For around $400 I can buy the vane air pump the commercial units use that runs right off the fan motor.

How much waste oil do you burn in a season, what size shop do you heat & what temp do you keep your shop?
@AndyFromm
@AndyFromm Год назад
My shop is about 45x55 I think 12/13ft tall. I haven't heated a whole season on just oil yet but 1 years was close. I used around 600 gallons and kept it no cooler than 60f.

I know this is a old video , im currently retubing my owb and adding the side tube for my beckett waste oil burner like yours my question if u can help and still have the boiler is how far back in the tube is ur retention head and how wide is ur fire box ? Thanks for the help and dig ur design !!!!
@AndyFromm
@AndyFromm 6 месяцев назад
I still have it but its to cold for me to measure. I have the retention head maybe an inch at most behind the end of the boiler tube. Specs show my box is 26" wide. I bought a different boiler that is twice the size, its going to get a new burner when I get around to it.

@AndyFromm thanks for the help didnt know how far back to keep the retention head back up in the tube and how far the flame would hit the out side of fire box ,,, thought i might need to add a deflector plate to keep to much heat off of fire box wall ? If im making any sense lol
@AndyFromm
@AndyFromm 6 месяцев назад
@@nathanbailey6475 I've had no trouble as far as the flame hitting the far wall hurting anything but when I had the retention head too far out of the fired box, it got the tube red hot and had carbon build up. What model boiler do you have?

Onboard air system!? Where do you get that pump? I've been running a boiler system off of waste motor oil and never knew there was an onboard air pump you can get! Cost me a lot of money to run that air compressor
@AndyFromm
@AndyFromm 4 месяца назад
I have been running it off shop air the last few years. They sell a onboard vane pump but it is over $400. I have plans of using parts from an old torpedo heater vane pump.

I tried the same thing with a pump out of a torpedo heater. I was only able to get 4 lb of pressure. I messed with the pressure regulator on the pump and replaced all of the internals and still couldn't get anything higher than 4 lb of pressure. If you can make it work let me know and I'll dig into it again

@@professionalmike4189 do you remember the size you used? There are thicker or thinner pumps like 1/2 vs 3/4 vane width. Or what btu heater it was from?
