Sub 9! This is probably pretty close to the limits of this category right now, 8:4x is likely possible but not by much. Twitch: / ptminsker Outer Wilds Speedrun Discord: / discord
I think its really funny that the devs making it so scout launcher had kickback unknowingly resulted in movement tech that made stuff like this possible
@@user-ct8rh5ld5e What I meant to say is that in order to pilot the Nomai ships perfectly you need to take into account: -the gravity pull of other planets and the sun. -The speed and direction of your ship. -The fact that by being on a planet you are moving with it, meaning that the ship's speed could be cancelled if you launch in a direction opposite to your planet's orbit. (These are things you would have to consider if you wanted to send a rocket to space.)
@@alejosuarconde1145 it’s not the Nomai ship tho. There’s only 2 nomai ship, the Vessel (which you can’t pilot) and the Shuttle (which you can… launch in space, I guess). You probably mean the Hearthian ship ?
In a game that is all about fearless exploration with the end goal of outrunning a supernova, it is fitting that the speedrun is not glitchy at all except for the launch code part. All players are expected to master those mechanics, although definitely not to the same extent.
There's something beautiful about a speedrun ending in peacefully roasting a marshmall... I mean getting sucked into the fifth dimension and shooting a scout to get through it quicker.
Played days worth of this game Never got recommended anything for it anywhere RU-vid offers this to me. Wow, seriously, what the hell have I been missing from my favorite games community, this is impressive
Just finished the DLC myself so started checking out the speedrunning content now that I don't have to worry about spoilers. My god, you are a master of your craft, this is seriously impressive! Congratulations on the sub 9!
How do you practice tricks like escaping the bridge of the vessel during the warp? bc obviously if you fail the trick you can't try again without doing a whole 'nother run.
the SpeedTools mod has a variety of features that make it easier to get back to certain points in the game, including some specific states to practice from
A good demonstration of how having something going faster than the speed of light (the explorer when being teleported back) breaks simple fundamental physics like conservation of momentun
Insane amazing gg. I gotta ask--is there a tool you can use to route the timing of the planet orbits, or is it just trial/error/game knowledge?? This looks wildly complicated gg again
We have a tool that maps out the position of every planet over the course of the loop, and we also have a record of when all of the different warp alignments on ash twin are. Very much a necessity for routing, especially with shipless categories where things get more complicated.
....is there a universe in which one could hypothetically scout-boost _away_ from the big bang well enough to survive? I assume it just reuses code from the supernova so it'd fizzle out past like 15km or w/e
Yes you can actually scoutboost away from the big bang and escape it if you use mods to boost the power of the scout. Juliuscube did this and posted it in the discord a while back when we first discovered the scoutlauncher could move you there.
Why is it quicker to glitch out of the vessel instead of teleporting down? I'm trying to picture how long it normally takes, what do you shave off by doing this?
Like a minute and a half. It takes a while because the eyes gravity is really strong so you have to walk real slow. Leaving the vessel immediately skips all of the walking and takes you to the next phase.
The rate at which the time passes while sleeping depends on how powerful your system is. Pausing the timer while sleeping maintains parity so that you wouldn't lose time simply because you're playing on a slower machine.
lemme guess the route; from AT is to use the BH forge tower (and pitstop for gas?), 🕳️ to the white hole stat.. to.. db & then vessel? my other guess wouldve been to GD and flying out but the gravity there is a bit.......e...🫴..🤌 its always fascinating seeing how runs get mapped out. gg! 🎉
@@user-yo1ep6sw7ithere's a warp in the vessel to get to the ground of the eye I assume OP meant they didn't know you could leave the ship without tping
She is only there if you meet her in one of your loop. The whole quantum moon stuff is actually a dead end that give no vital info about how to beat the game, so it could be skipped, and in that case there is no reason lorewise for your character to have Solanum at the campfire.
this game feels way to easy to cheat. i dont think there should be segmented runs for this game... you can so easily splice together an amazing start with a different run that had an amazing mid/end attempt. the timer is so easy to splice with
wait. any%? wouldnt just dying before the statue awakens your memories be way faster? and even if you dont want to count that, theres always isolation endings. pretty sure getting the intentional ending is the longest, and i would say any% doesnt exclude the other endings. if anything, doing the intentional ending could be considered 100% in a game like this. what disqualifies 100% in a game like this anyways? there are no collectibles. i guess i could see ship log being a collectible but thats a stretch considering lore isnt counted in most games 100% categories. either way, credits are credits, get to them as fast as possible. or perhaps this catagory can be "canon ending any% shipless"
