The artwork here is STELLAR! So good! Whether it's the creepy shots of the Owlk or the adorable image of the hatchling carrying baby versions of the travelers, it's all amazing!
really cool how theyre all named after not just rocks, but really interesting ones, like chert which is microcrystalline-quartz so its basically entirely quartz but made of very very tiny crystals, making it insanely hard. Or alternatively gabbro, which is an ultra-mafic rock that is just the earth's mantle meaning it comes from VERY deep underground and can only be found in select deposits around the world
@@Whimsly eh personally I think obsidian is overrated and everyone thinks its special because of minecraft. There's much more interesting rocks like peridotite and chert
[Hatchling]: blah blah rocks, blah blah eye of the universe, blah blah nomai _Hatchling was slain by ArchiveDefender3 using [Home Run]_ _Hatchling left the game (Kicked: Artifact Extinguished)_
OMG this is INCREDIBLE! I read all of the hatchling's dialogue and it's just as great I can totally see why the stranger would wish to hit them with a bat after that :D
this is the best animatic i’ve ever seen omg. incredible art!!! great comedic timing!!! if you don’t mind, i’ll be watching this on repeat for the next 24 hours
I actually don’t study geology specifically but every hearthian has gots to know their stuff about rocks and whatnot. [S]ee’n as we name our young’ns after ‘em. Actually not all of us are named after rocks exactly! Plenty of us have our namesake in minerals or geological formations. It’s actually really neat that there knife you have there, made of [o]bsidian. My name just so happens to be Obsidian! Or, it is according to the person making this video anyhow, and she won’t be taking any criticisms ‘bout it. But most folks just call me “Hatchling,” which is kinda annoy’n cuz I ain’t a hatchling no more, ya know! I did my sap wine ceremony, and I passed! I digested that rancid slop, and I didn’t even throw up! I mean I had some trouble with my gut afterward, and my kin sure didn’t let me live that down. I guess call’n me Hatchling and all that is their way of poke’n fun at me… Anyhow, in these crazy loops, I’ve learned a lot about your species actually! How you used to live on a beautiful planet but your desire to fine te eye led y’all to burn it all down to the ground. Us Hearthians are real keen on replanting trees we use. We have a lot of respect for the ground. I mean, like I said, our young are named after rocks after all! Well, not just rocks, but I already mentioned that, huh? Well, anyhow, I also learned a lot about your computer dream thingy. I’ve found several errors that I’ve used to get to the restricted areas. And honestly, I dunno why y’all’re so protective about that info. The eye is really nothing to be feared. It’s kinda ironic, actually. In searching for the eye you [destroyed] your home, and then hid the eye’s signal to protect your way of life, which would have been preserved if you just never went look’n for the eye. Heh heh… I guess you could call it… “eye”ronic! …No? Well, don’t get me wrong, of course I have a respect for the curiosity. All hearthians have a drive to explore and discover. Maybe it’s somethin’ the Nomai left in us. They’re real curious sorts as well. Though, I guess look’n for the eye also did a number on ’em. But it all worked out in the end, ya know! The Outer Wilds Ventures was only founded because of that same kind of reckless curiosity. And without that, I never would have discovered any of this, or met you!
I wrote the whole hatchling rant up myself and came to the comment section to post it, convinced I'd be the first. Damn you!! (Good job. It took me like 9 minutes.)
It wasnt until this animatic did i realize that the Hearthians were *ALL* named after rocks and minerals. I just thought Slate was just one Hearthian that really liked sendiment rock formations.
I wouldn’t have realized if I hadn’t taken a geology class just earlier this year (played it for the first time at the beginning of the summer). I saw Slate, and Feldspar, and Gneiss, even porphy who I recognized as a CATEGORY of rock (porphyritic), and was like “Hey wait a sec”
for anyone unaware gabbro feldspar slate hornfels and all the hearthians are named after rocks and minerals I know it's in the description but not everyone reads those lol also nomai are named after plants
@@kadebrockhausen nevermind I just found out there's a mineral called Hatchite. I'll always be attached to Obsidian for them but I can't refuse the opportunity for their name to literally be Hatch/Hatchy
