I watched a ton of outfeed table builds and ended up coming back to your build. I've also got a small shop and need an efficient, and easily built outfeed table that I can also use as an assembly table. I need to get my shop up and running, and know I need an outfeed table, but don't want to spend the time building a cabinet (I can do that later if I ever want to) so that I can get to building other stuff my shop needs.

I finished my DIY Montreal Outfeed Table over the weekend and I love it! The plans were excellent and the video allowed be to know what was coming before each new step. I love the casters, and my table saw's dust hose slips right underneath the overhang. Thanks for a great project!

Thanks for sharing this design/build. I downloaded the plans and built it to the cut list and instructions without any issues. I made a couple of small changes...increased the clearance from the legs to the casters to 3/4" versus 1/2"; couldn't get black Melamine but used 3/4" MDF sitting on 1/2" MDF. I used 3 coats of shellac on the top surface. I really liked the leveling legs which makes for a very stable position of the table on an uneven floor, and I think the overall dimensions of the table are perfect for outfeed and assembly. I'd like to show a picture of mine but don't know how to upload...

If worried about gluing edge trim to that type of board: bondo for wood, spread the bondo on outside edge, sand smooth, glue your trim. Can also use the all purpose bondo.

Thanks Marie. I bought your PDF plans and built my own version for a workbench. Made mine longer and taller and a bit wider and just went with regular lockable castors that aren't "hidden" like yours. I really like your black melamine top but I could only get white here in the southern Oregon area so had to go with that. It was pretty easy to cut and build, although I had trouble with the pocket screws which I had never used before. I should have shelled out for the nice looking pocket screw guide you have, but I got something cheaper from Amazon which placed the holes too far away from the top. So I had to use longer pocket screws. I had to hand-drive them as you did, but that didn't help ME avoid driving them too far. I should have practiced on some scrap 2x4s to give me confidence in what was going to happen, but I didn't, so now I have 3 spots in the melamine top where the tips started to come through. (I screwed them with the workbench inverted so the weight would hold everything tightly together) Oh well... it is just a workbench! I'll put edges on mine as you did, but I still need to get hold of the hardwood and some melamine glue. Thanks again Marie. Very enjoyable watching your channel.

I used those lever type casters with optional plates for removal on a just finished mft/router/assembly/out feed/tooling storage table. I don’t like them, the table isn’t yet loaded with tooling but they’re very hard to engage/disengage to the point I don’t bother.. They’re absolutely bound to fail and were expensive as you point out. Live and learn, thanks for sharing.

Sorry to hear that, but it's reassuring to know I made the right decision not going with those. Thanks!

@@DIYMontreal I think they'd be fine for light weight tables (they worked OK before I added the top). For the benefit of anyone reading this thread I think the way to go for heavy benches which need to be mobile are leveling casters with handles/levers. I see some on YT, researching them now.

And I thought MY garage (workshop) floor was bad ! Nice strong unit, I didn't think of melamine coated board for my table, used 18 mm MDF. Got it from a local builder's merchant and it seemed a bit heavy and dark. It came from Brasil and when given a coat of boiled linseed oil it turned the colour of dark chocolate ! Mmmm
