A damned fine actress ... Stunning beauty. Deserves to be nominated for an Emmy. Her work in " Faith" one of the most moving performances I have ever watched. Bravo!
Absolutely! I agree Heart wrenching to watch it and totally believable she was really experiencing the birth of a stillborn! Beautiful very talented actress
She is profound both emotionally and intellectually. And she has this rare quality that her deepness reflects through her eyes in acting. Imho unquestionably Oscar material.
I think along with the Faith episode, their best one was when Claire and Jamie had to say goodbye at the stones. The way they waltzed and cried - how difficult to part from your love. I still remember to this day how touched i was.
Love Cait, love Tobias, love the whole show. But...how in the world has Sam never been nominated!? Everyone on every aspect of Outlander should have an Emmy!!
That Sam has never been nominated, let alone won any number of nominations, is an affront. Not only is he a classically trained actor who's overpaid his dues, he is brilliant in Outlander. The biggest obstacle, IMO, is that he's marketed as eye candy by Starz. A beautiful woman can be recognised for her acting as Catriona deservedly has. I think a beautiful man is too easily regarded as cheesecake. Also, Sam doesn't go to a lot of Hollywood parties and events to schmooze, probably because he's insanely busy with his various businesses and projects. But neither of those things is an excuse for the lack of recognition from his peers. The majority of his fans are pretty pissed about it. You hear that @STARZ?
Not only a beauty, but Cait's eloquence and passion in talking about the understanding of acting and especially her role to bring Clair to life, reveals her intelligence - superb interview .... award well deserved!
Ms Balfe reveals a rare mastery of her profession, providing a unique insight on her personality---an intelligence that shines with and illuminated with her depth sincerity, humility and humor, exceptional warmth, honesty and humble attitude.
Can't get enough of Cait...her beauty always matches her emotions , as shown in this interview , beauty & brains all throughout, she could definitely sell any OUTLANDER SOUVENIR/ pictures easily plus her autographs, etc... She is a natural no pretense actress !
Rob, you are the BEST interviewer of Caitriona and Sam. You should be the only one to interview them because your questions are so intelligent and in depth. You give them both the opportunity to respond in kind. It's so refreshing.
Ms. Balfe is very conscientious about these interviews. Even though she must give a ton of them she seems very present and positive in each one, projects lot of good energy, really listens, really thinks about her answers.
My mother lost twin boys in 1948. One lived for a few hours and the other for two days. I was only 18 months old and have no memory of it. When I was about 35 we were lying on the beach and I asked her if she ever thought about them. "Everyday," she said. As she said it she patted her belly. I don't know if she was even conscious of doing that, but it was such a sad and powerful moment. 40 years later I'm still affected by it.
She is amazing in literally every way. Her acting is amazing and she is such a joy to watch. The way she immerses herself and describes her characters is fascinating. Absolutely love her!
This interview is wonderful! Caitriona is so "real". You can really see how affected she was in the Episode "Faith", she deserves an Academy Award for it! She's wonderful!
My daughter also lost her baby boy 3 years ago ànd whilst I would not normally write this in a public forum BUT their portrayal was so sensitively written/directed/acted was so well produced..the best I have ever seen. It broke me in two to watch it but it's so important that a part of life that is not discussed or talked about is and scripts continue to name this baby Faith, as we do with our Henry.
They have touched the hearts of millions of people around the world through their performance as an actor. Caitriana Balfe remains and will remain a learned actress , major of the 7 art! full intelligence and passion .
Thanks, Rob for this wonderful interview with Caitriona and hope you'll get her back again. Love, love, love Cait! She is strikingly beautiful, amazingly talented and a sweetheart to boot. She's always gracious, witty and pleasantly grounded - no ounce of diva in her. How refreshing! "Outlander" producers struck gold casting her and Cait has been perfect throughout. She deserves to be nominated and win.
I think part of the reason we love it so much is that Jaime and Claire never give up on each other. Today people just divorce/split up - deciding to stick with a person is very rare.
I have been a fan of Audrey Hepburn , Doris Day , Maureen O' Hara, Elizabeth Taylor , but Caitreona takes the cake ! Her acting so emotional & real & her ethereal beauty is unlike anybody I"'ve ever seen . This interview is proof of her character !
Enjoyed this interview very much! It was a pleasure to hear Caitriona open up about the process of bringing Claire to life during the most heart wrenching episode so far. Caitriona is gracious beyond measure as she praises everyone involved in bringing Diana's books to the adoring fans. So happy I've lived long enough to see it. Hope I'm still around for the entire series. Thanks so much for sharing.
What an amazingly dedicated actress and so enthusiastic about her craft. She was so giving on her thoughts and feelings and time. A 35 minute interview in what would be an incredibly busy schedule. Might I make a suggestion re interview techniques, you ended it on such a clanger. Saying she's been submitted for an Emmy (which she deserves) but you said hey there's so many others basically you probably won't get it. She was so gracious to you and I think you weren't to her. Perhaps you were just so in awe ( as anybody would be) that you were nervous on how to end it.
Seen this a few times, cait is fooking amazing, i cried my eyes out at faith, love that she thinks and feels so deeply, her expressions tell a thousand emotions, shes amazing, love her, gonna be bereft when outlander finally finishes
Now we all wish to be this woman but her success is so deserving. Of course she was genetically blessed, blessed for being an English native speaker but just so humble and deserving human being!
I read a spoiler in season 7 Jamie will supposedly drown in a 🌊 sea and Claire will marry Lord John Gray and the two will be intimate… I hope they don’t show that in TV 📺 sears. I can’t fathom Claire and Jamie with anyone else.
Great writing great acting...so we'll put together that you can't help but to get hooked on this show...ive read the books and follow the series...and go through withdrawal in between. Keep up the goid work...love you all!!
Yes, this is a woman's story, but so many interviews forget the one powerful thing...a WOMAN wrote this series. Not enough attention is paid to Diana Gabaldon. Need to interview her too.
@GoldDerby, Outlander is not the only one, remember Jessica Jones, Penny Dreadful or iZombie. Also, other series are very good even if they have more male protagonists.
Really 🤔. I don’t know about that !!! What makes this show work is SAM /JAMIE & Cait/ Clair and THEIR ACTING ABILITY .... NOT TO MENTION THEIR INTERACTIONS, OR CHEMISTRY WITH EACH OTHER!!!!! Take one of them out, and Outlander would be just any other Show !!!
I think it's a wonderful show and all of the actors are very realistic. For me if Sam Heughan wasn't Jamie the show wouldn't be nearly as good as it is. The chemistry between the two of them is remarkable.
Wow.. lol. "we hope to see you at the emmy's we reckon you will be there, but you never know there are a lot of really good tv and really good actresses?" That sorta of sounds like a diss. I reckon you won't be nominated for any type of awards because lets face it you are no jimmy fallon. At any rate, high five Caitriona:) She rocks:) ( fyi, I did like the interview, just that last bit... SMH)
KA-ATA-KILLA SI I don't know who ur watching, but Cait is the best. Between her n Sam they both deserve all the awards. I'm tired of watching FAKE love scenes n emotionless acts in the movies. Cait n Sam r so natural u don't realize they are acting. They r so in love n in tune with each other. I can't forget the interview at comi con with Sam n Cait. The interviewer asked Sam what he'd give up for love n he said " I'd give up everything for love" than looked at Cait. At that moment she blushed n tried not to show her emotions. At that moment u could tell they were feeling the same thing on the same level. I could feel it n anyone else watching had to feel the same. 😍🔥💋
With Outlander, I came for the hot babe, Caitriona (and I couldn't figure out how to pronounce the name until I heard an interview,) but stayed for the amazing story telling, and truly incredible acting. "Faith" was an episode that was absolutely heartbreaking. It's not often that a movie or tv show moves me to tears, but several episodes of Outlander have done it. The acting is really amazing. I have fallen in love with the character Claire, thanks to the way that Caitriona has brought her to life, though she's angered me numerous times, by the sometimes cruel way Claire treated Frank. I'm now reading the books as well, but Claire (and Jaime) have been brought to life so amazingly by Caitriona and Sam, whenever I think of the characters, in my mind I see Caitriona and Sam. In fact, the producers have cast the series so amazingly well, it's really stunning.
