For those that don’t know, this song is based on "The Skye Boat Song", a late 19th century Scottish song recalling the journey of Prince Charles Edward Stuart (Bonnie Prince Charlie) from Uist to the Isle of Skye as he evaded capture by Government troops after his defeat at the Battle of Culloden.
Bonnie Prince Charlie, a cousin, over half of my heritage is Scottish, I myself have not been to Scotland, but my youngest son visited Edinburgh where a lot of family is buried..he looks like a Scot..
I am from Scotland, and I can think of a lot more beautiful countries than Scotland; Norway, New Zealand, Switzerland, Canada, Greenland ect… I think it is the history, the castles that really capture people imaginations.
@@perthrockskinda2946 I was born in NZ. We do have a beautiful country :) not as old as Scotland but just as interesting in terms of our indigenous culture
The outlander must get a big award i'ts magnifique watching it for the 3rd time I love it more and more. Merci a vous tous. Sing the music to myself everyday.
I was born on Skye but emigrated at age 27. My heart still belongs on Skye where I had a magical childhood. A very special, spiritual place. I plan to revisit in 2023 but alas it has changed drastically due to the huge tourist impact.
How could anyone give this a thumbs down??? Jaime and Claire along with the Skye Boat Song have become loved the world over! The books have been treasured in my house for years. It's lovely to see those stories come to life on the screen.
+BelleCat RiddingHood have as many seasons as general hospital. There's like 50 seasons. I used to watch that with my grandma when she would baby sit me lol
This series has become my new addiction. It's indescribable. I cried, I screamed, I smiled, I felt every emotion with this series. And it will continue to surprise me. I've never read books, but now I'm going to buy them! I know the song by heart, and it runs through my veins, and it echoes in my head all day long!!!! Everything Claire and Jamie felt when they broke up, I feel it every day too ! This huge hole inside the chest ! I never feel that with an other serie.
Im mexican, and I honestly enjoy Scottish music and sounds, specially this song. I just love the history and the culture. I hope one day I get to visit Scotland ❤️
I never ever skip the intro whenever I watch a new Outlander episode. It's one of those songs that just lifts your spirit no matter how bad the day was. And I always close my eyes and imagine I'm in Scotland with all the trees and nature around, everytime I listen to it. It's been almost a year since I last watched it and hearing this again is so nostalgic, makes me feel like I'm on cloud nine. Oh, how I wish to be able to watch it again. PS: The first version will always be the best.
Now I've only just found out that one of the songs I play on the violin whilst busking is the intro time to Outlander! Well ya know I haven't watched much in the way of screened entertainment of that nature , so perhaps that's why the takings went up ? Tis a thing of great beauty tho aye ❤😊
I love how this song went through "time changes" as the seasons went from scotland to America and used bagpipes, mountain dulcimers and banjo to the amazing Choral version. It's stuck in my head always......beautiful
This is by far the most unique, original and beautifully filmed series I've seen in my life..I instantly fell in love with all the characters because they were believable...a rarity.
I don't know what it is about this song, but it literally makes me cry every time I hear it. I'm Swedish, but this song somehow makes me feel like I belong in Scotland. Perhaps it has something to do with our shared Viking heritage, I don't know!
Nordic lands and the British isles have a strong bond so yes this could be why you feel this way. In the north east of England there are some words that are the same as in Sweden I believe. We always got told off at school for using them (they weren’t the naughty ones either!
The Frasers were a Viking clan. Maybe that's why. There were many Viking clans. The Mcleods (Donald Trump sadly) the MacAuley meaning "son of Olaf", there were many Viking clans who merged into Highlanders, usually as leaders.
Love from Trinidad and Tobago! 🇹🇹 I'm addicted to the show and the theme song...the emotions it awakens in me is like none other. I sing the theme song to myself in my quiet moments. I love it!
Nice. Beautiful theme, poetic lyrics, evocative images and Sam Heughan. Sam should introduce everything. If he made commercials for drain cleaner, tar soap, snow boots and canned soup I would go out and buy those things immediately.
After finishing all four seasons of Outlander in five days, It feels like I don't want to live in this century anymore!😅 I wish I could go back to the 18th century and be borne in Scotland..! Such a beautiful country! 💙💚 In love with Outlander , in love with both Jamie & Claire! 😍
I could listen to that gorgeous man (Jamie) all day and I have, I've hardly had any sleep in 5 days from watching all the seasons. I absolutely loved it.❤️
During COVID-19 Les Miserable and all it entailed, captured my very soul. Someone who stole a peice of bread to feed his family, and the price of being chased. Eben after freedom. Then I became indulged with the "Illusionist " with Edward Norton". I then went on to Library and searched every dvd on Edward Norton. Then it was Grantchester. But Outlander is unexplainable. As I gaze at entire production from shoes to wigs and all inbetween,, it has been a very long time to be immersed in a true love affair come hell or high waters. Although stressful at times, I still want more. So Bravo to the writer, producers, directors, choreography, Dress Designer and all that I missed. This has truly been an incredible emotional life saver in more ways than one. Must remember they are undeniable credible actors. Praying Sam will meet a real lady and woman who is enormously secure to allow Sam to do what needs to be done without drama. Blessings ❤️
All I can say when I'm watching outlander that I am so proud to be Scottish the music by Bear Mccreary is brilliant and Jamie and clare are so so good as the main characters. I love it
I've known about the show for years but not been able to watch it until now. Just finished season 1 and absolutely love it. The music, the acting, the scenery, the chance to hear the Scots language spoken, and of course Jamie
It’s so funny to me because back in the day I’d find myself falling for the male lead if they were truly captivating (like wanting them for myself in a fantasy way) In this show though, both leads have such AMAZING chemistry that you want them* to genuinely be together. Great acting indeed.
The most magical and beautiful series I've ever watched in my life....and the chemistry is off the charts. What a stunning triumph in film making. The music, the costumes, the actors...it's pure perfection. Season 8 is currently in the works....wish it would never end. Wow, wow, and wow., oh my. :)
Beautiful historic song of lost battes and loves in Scotland. I live in Ayr where the boats are supposed to sail from going to the Americas. In reality it is filmed at Dunure harbour about 12 miles south of Ayr. We have twice seen the harbour converted into a film set and then watched the scenes in the series. It is all so well done
I love this series so much and I love this song too, it just has a comforting calmness about it. To the writers and producers, please keep us entertained with your creative stories and true to life characters that emerse us into those moments in time.
I love this song so much, l feel it in my heart for me, Outlander the best story and scenery, has made me fall in love with Scotland, Thank you so much 💜💜💜
This song touches my heart ❤ so beautiful. I just started watching this series and I can’t stop. Every time I hear this song I get so emotional and the series is amazing!
I cannot make myself watch an entire episode of Game of Thrones or Walking Dead, but this...this is a gem💎..I binge watched during the Holidays and im now on the 4th season...love the theme song so much!
This song get's the best of me❤ and I am still watching this beautiful serie! Over and over again. Dreaming of a red Jamie at times. What a love couple! What a masterpiece!

Start the season 5, please please please? It's been too long to wait... Ohhh listened to the soundtrack brought back to the series. The foreign accent, the beautiful scenery, the stories...
Thank you. I literally sing the first two lines all day long. Now I can learn the rest of this simple yet snappy tune! Huge fan here. Cheers from CANADA!
I truly become emotional listening to this beautiful music with heart thought Lyrics. I am so entrenched in the series I am part of it and don't want to come back.
One last thing, when I hear the opening song, my heart is calmed and stilled, then with excitement that a new journey is about to begin and I kenna wait!
Ache my heart whenever i hear this song❤ Scotland and Scottish history being my favorite, the music rings Scots breezes to my heart. (although never had set my foot there, there's deep down in me that am so well connected to this culture, to this landscape, to this people😭❤)
