Nice setup! I ran across your video searching for mods to the Outlaw 11.5. I just bought one yesterday. I am already adding some of the mods you have done. I am adding an anchor trolley system too. Thanks for the video and ideas!!
You're right, it doesn't sit under the seat.. It can be outfitted to have the 35l cooler nestled in that recess and used as a makeshift seat while the real seat is stowed in the slot the man mentioned in his video. He was spot on with how he described the features of the kayak, as evidenced by the companies own marketing documentation on their website describing it the same way.
Nice setup. I have a very large drybox that I keep under my outlaw seat. I can keep all my electronics dry and within easy reach. I've never had a problem with not having enough storage space on the outlaw. My next mod is going to be my trolling motor. Thanks for this video I got some good ideas
I’m also in SA and just bought the same Outlaw from Academy. I live pretty close to Woodlawn, let me know if you want to get another Outlaw out there with you sometime 🤙🏼
Hey Kevin....Woodlawn Lake is a great place to test out the yak but I would not fish there. If I am going to fish in town....I would probably go to Elmendorf Lake...the one by Our Lady of the Lake University. I might hold some bass...I've seen some people fish on yaks there. I mostly fish the bays in Corpus....which I am going this Wed. Taking a few days off and I am gonna camp at Bird Island Basin and fish for a few days on the yak.
@@MasChanclasAdventures Thanks for the tips, I live outside of SA and just bought the same kayak. I am excited to do some fishing from it b/c usually I hit the rivers and it can be a little too fast pace to do any fishing.
Damn I should've waited till the end to comment. I love your bait bucket great job. I used to put my round buckets in milk crates for stability, but I like your square bucket answer better. You should try to get a patend for it. I'm sure they would sell... Good luck I'd buy one but after seeing it I'll probably build one this winter. I've got a feeling I'll be spending alot of time in my garage with my yaks this winter doing multiple mods LOL. Trolling motor next.
Thanks Dustin. I got the Magellan Outdoors HT Bent Carbon paddle. The 2 main reasons I picked that one was because first....I needed a long one due to the high seat...this one is 90" or so. And I needed one that was light since I don't have a trolling motor as of yet I will be doing a lot of paddling. And I won't get tired as fast as if I had a heavier one. One of the best advise I got was that if you are into kayaking...you will be switching to different kayaks every year or so...to find one that fits you...but get the very best paddle you can get because you can always use it on any kayak you get. I know it's a bit pricey (at least to me)...I paid $160 but it is well worth it. That's just my opinion.
Hey, love the video, just purchase the Outlaw last week, where did u buy the metal loops that go on track ?? Love that idea fro tethering gear!! Thanks
I actually bought them for my Tacoma truck but I had a few left over and found a good use for them on the yak....here's the link: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B081JGR9Z5/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I do not use a dolly. Since I yak on the bay side....I try to park as close to the water as I can and drag it the rest of the way. As long as the ground is not rocks...I am good. And yes...it does have scupper holes so you can make a cart out of PVC and wheels...that will work.
If you are referring to the black hatch....here is a link to it. It's a 5" inch as that's what fits perfectly. This 5" hatch is hard to find and is a bit pricey. But I have seen others but a 6" hatch and make it work. They are a bit cheaper. I got 2 of them....one for the front of the seat...so I can put my phone...wallet...keys...stuff like that. As it's water proof. And the other one I am going to install in the back so I can have access to the inside....as I plan to add either a trolling motor or a power pole. Probably the power pole. I haven't installed the hatch yet. www.amazon.com/Harmony-8023046-5-Inch-Hatch-Kit/dp/B0045NXEQA/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=kayak+hatch+5&qid=1614348079&sr=8-5
It only has one setting. Now you can take it off, fold it and place it in the back....as there is a place to store it. And in it's place....you can place a ice cooler....32/36 qrt cooler will fit.
I love this kayak! Check out this alternative to the overly expensive perception saddle bags! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hcfCnn0l96w.html
