Outline of the Tendai School 天台宗概論講: PART ONE: What's in a Name? 

The Tendai School’s present reach is rather modest, and so it will invariably be the case that most people make first contact with the Tendai tradition, indirectly, by way of some other tradition. We can imagine how this might paint a rather distorted picture of Tendai Buddhism itself, as these accounts naturally exhibit a bias in favour of the virtues of those other movements. It is with a mind to remedying this imbalance, that with this video, I begin a series of short videos, which ‘outline’ the depth and breadth of the Tendai Tradition (i.e. the Outline of the Tendai School 天台宗概論講 series).
This first video begins by discussing the name "Tiantai/Tendai", its use, meaning, and referent. And on the basis of this information, interprets the meaning implicit in the Japanese Tendai School’s Crest or Emblem.
