Was quite interesting until your wife would put items in the cupboard and you switched off to watch her. You would have done better just with the info and rearranged your cupboards after your clip.crazy
Hi Allan, unfortunately I didn’t have much time to edit this one and it fell on Tupperware Tuesday. You are right, of course, and we’ll take this feedback on board for our next videos. We’ll have more time now that the cupboards are sorted. Thanks for watching.
I’ve just discovered your channel, you two are hilarious, I’ve been watching all afternoon and got nothing done, the wife’s gonna kick off!! Cheers guys, good luck 🤞
@@Stchristopherofatlantis Haha, great sketch lol, at 9:57 you reach and grab the wrong glass (flower glass) and drank from it and subtly noticed that something wasn't right; then at the end the cupboard disaster 😆I enjoyed the humour side very much 🤣
My service engineer has told me some horror stories when he's inspected motorhomes/caravans. It's a suggestion, but when you decide on a van, have it inspected independently before parting with your money.
Don’t give up hope. We spent about a year looking before we found what we wanted. Don’t compromise on what you want. It’s a big decision so wait and get it right.
I am not a Yorkshire man but a Welsh one I like the silliness I could not stop laughing I think people today don’t realise good old fashion humour that does not need to be clever but just silly I would love to spend and evening with you two make me cry laughing good on you take life to serious become a stone well done great attitude you have love it
Hi guys, we sold our house and bought our first motohome in July this year. After much research and recommendations from long standing van lifers we drove 100 miles to Oaktree Motorhomes in Nottingham. Fantastically friendly and helpful staff, loads to choose from and they give you plenty of added goodies, like free habitation check, free 12 months mot and warranty. Gotta be worth a try.
What a bizarre channel, please do keep taking the piss out of all these awful dealers. Oaktree have a very good reputation indeed. I’m sure you could do worse than to give them a call?
Hi we are members silver pound (old)!!! Whilst trying to find our retirement dream motorhome, met some of the rudest salesmen ever, it was just after the NEC show so I think they’d made their commission for the month so couldn’t give a dam, so bad in one top place in Notts we just walked straight out. The answer to our prayers in the shape of Nigel our salesman from SMC, although many of their new vans are way out of our price range, their secondhand ones are great. We did end up pushing the boat out & brought a new Pilote G740fc the offer was too good to miss, & Nigel has been a star, looking after us. Good luck on your search.🎉🎉
Hi. Yeah us too.. there is no need to be rude, it’s just silly (we think!) Your van sounds awesome, we hope to bump into you on your travels 🚐 have a great day
Love the humour guys, keep up the great work! We purchased out motorhome last May from Caravan and Campers Ltd (The Motorhome Man on RU-vid). His vans are competitively priced so there wasn't much wiggle room but I can honestly say that these guys have been excellent to deal with and nothing was too much trouble. After using the van a few times we discovered a problem and reported it to our dealer. The issue was dealt with immediately and to our satisfaction. So its not all negative and there are good dealers out there who are willing to provide a good service. I just hope that when you identify the van you want you get a similar service. Good luck!
Hi. Thanks for watching our video and a big thank you for commenting We have seen the Motorhome man so this is good to know. We think service is really important so will check him out Thank you and have a great week
Another cracking and humorous video, covering a very serious topic. We bought our first motorhome in 2010 for the princely sum of £12500. It was a McLouis from a private seller, a great little van that we had for 2 years. They were a lovely family, honest and helpful............its not hard to judge character even via emails and phone calls. The trick is to trust yourself to weed out the dishonest chancers, which you can usually manage in the first stages of contact...............we are now on our 10th van, all bought and sold privately, lots of negotiations on prices and not one problem with either buying or selling, we detest the thought of buying from dealers because person to person is a much more direct and rewarding process (and way less expensive). Don't let yourselves be drawn into the myth that buying from a dealer is much safer because of warranties etc. You can buy warranties if you want one. Happy to share our experiences buying and selling if you'd find it useful ? BTW we had a Roller Team Zefiro 690 G, brilliant van, zero issues, great value.
Hi Steve, Thanks for this. Cracking price for your first van! We can’t wait to get our very first motorhome. We hope to bump into you guys out on the road 🚐
I've a 2017 Autotrail Tribute as you mentioned. Had it a year now and thankfully had no issues at all. It's been through our terrible Scottish winters and never missed a beat or dripped a drip. Bought it off a wee family run business up here in the North East of Scotland. Couldn't fault them at all. I think a lot of the bigger, established companies don't give a toss about their customers once they get a sale.
Sorry to hear, and see your disappointment trying to find a new van. I can only offer help in saying what you are experiencing is unfortunately my experience of ‘normal’. You honestly have to assume everyone is lying, and also assume you will be disappointed when you view. There is a lot of tat out there. Remember the higher mileage ones may be ex rentals. To be honest I’ve found dealing with (decent) private sellers better than most dealers - and I’d include motorhome depot as these are effectively private sales. You can either go on your own research and gut instinct, or organise your own hab check / mot / inspection before buying. Keep the faith, keep looking, assume everything is crap, and one day will be a good day! Good luck!
We bought a Rollerteam 590 privately and we are very happy with it, it’s a lovely motorhome. Don’t avoid private sales, not everyone is dodgy. Good luck in your search. We love watching your videos.
Our 590 is an 18 reg apparently 17& 18 reg were fitted with cheap decals some of ours are badly faded but have found a local business who will replace all of the decals with quality vinyl for £560 which I thought was pretty good.
Hi - buying a van that suits you can be incredibly time consuming and frustrating, we spent over a year looking for one! Currently, it's a sellers market unfortunately as post covid delays continue for new vans which means good used ones are in short supply, hence the lack of discounts. You're also looking for a 6m which is the sweet spot for many as some will be upsizing from campervans and others downsizing from bigger vans. Not sure what layout you're looking for but you'll struggle with fitting in transverse beds, which basically means either a rear (or side) lounge/jigsaw bed, a drop down (like the rollerteam you rented), or a bigger van with longitudinal beds. Most British vans have the former. While your budget is a large amount of money, prices continue to rocket (due to supply) so you get less for your money - a van that cost around £40k pre covid can now comfortably be £70k. Most view British vans as inferior to continental vans so prices also reflect that. In truth all vans can have problems, but always best to buy quality. The average motorhome mileage in the UK is between 2k to 3k pa and UK vans build quality reflect that and tend to suffer more from damp and poor installations. We recently toured Morocco, Spain, France, Portugal and met a few new Rollerteam, Swift and Autotrail owners who were less than complimentary about their vans. You also have potential issues to consider with the base models. I'd avoid any ducato between 2016 and 2018 due to Fiat using a twin egr setup to avoid fitting adblue - these can be hugely problematic and expensive to fix when they go wrong (and they will), fine if you've only done 6k in them from new but a problem for the next owner. I'd also avoid the comformatic semi automatic - again huge bills can occur. Also avoid the Transit between 2016 to 2018 due to injector and wet belt issues. Taking the above into account you can see why your options narrow and your search widens! Looking at PVCs will give you more choice, even better if you can consider 6.36m to accommodate longitudinal beds. UK built PVCs also tend to be less damp than their coach built equivalents, e.g. Elddis CV20s are popular, more so for taller folk (if you can live with the jigsaw bed/lounge), and there's and active support group on facebook (I don't own an Elddis) which helps. These are much better than Elddis's coachbulit models. You might also want to look at Chausson - several are in the 6m territory and some have a drop down bed. Finally, have a look at www.motorhomefun.co.uk - there's a wealth of support, reviews and info on models, manufacturers and dealers. Plus the advice from members is invaluable. Good luck and if you need any info just shout!
Hi Tony, Thank you for watching our video and taking the time to comment. You have some awesome advice here that we are appreciative of. It’s such a minefield! Will look at Motorhomefun, I think when buying something so expensive the research element is pivotal!! We hope to bump into you on our travels 🚐
I didn't like Rollerteam Motorhomes because of build quality. I bought my Swift Bessacarr Hi-Style 599 2018 ex demo & virtually brand new with 8,000miles . Absolutely Love it ❤
Yet another great vlog, it was like two story lines running simultaneously (it’s great trying to work out where it’s going) you both always make me laugh, although this week the comments (claire) made me fall off me chair 😂🤣😂, please don’t change the great format.
Hi. How are you Glad you enjoyed and that we make you laugh! Our format is a bit quirky isn’t it but we have no plans at all to change it 😂 😂 Have a fab week 👋
I can see a few people are recommending Oak Tree Motorhomes, I had solar, inverter and lithium installed by them and had great service. Open 7 days and all vans are open for you to look round.
If you think the pre-sales service levels are appalling, just wait till you may have to get something fixed. We bought from a large dealer in the South West. All they worry about is the glory days of the 1950’s where customer service wasn’t really a thing. For all that money, you expect a little more.
Hi. It’s big cash so we definitely expect good service and it does put us off if the initial engagement isn’t great. Thank you for watching our video and have a great week
Look towards The Motorhome Man a fellow You Tuber. We went to him explained we weren’t in a position to buy but we’re researching he spent an hour with us telling us what to look out for good and bad. We ended up with an Apache 634 high line as I’m 6,3 and the rear lounge coverts to a super king in 2 mins. Good luck and thanks for the laughs it’s refreshing 👍
Hi both. I'm on my 3 motorhome, swift 597 bessacarr. It's my third Swift and in my humble opinion the best interior. Didn't find it hard to find the van I wanted but learnt lots about the layout over the years and what worked and this is by far my best one. I was a cash buyer and bought private every time for the best price. Its a fact dealers put 10k minimum on any partex they take. Motorhome depot in my experience are genuine people from my experience viewing a van in Nottingham. Swift vans are not cheap as that rude salesman told you lol. Like all makes they have the budget entry escape and then the top Kon tiki. The best advice I can give you is don't buy a van without a recent habitation check and possibly use some finance so you can reject the van if there are major issues. Damp is the biggest issue and can write a van off with the cost of repairs. Join lots of Facebook groups to get as much info as possible by asking questions . Also my van is ulez zone excempt in all city's but doesn't use add blue so you know. Any help just ask no problem. Good luck. Ps best item I ever bought, love it and travel all year round.
Hello. Thanks for this and a big thank you for watching our video We went for a Benimar Mileo and the interior works well for us and the dogs. We just love being in it and like you we can travel all over!! Wishing you many happy travels 👍☀️🚐
I'm from the U.S. and I got tired of looking and just bought a Ford Transit cargo van, high top, extended, AWD, v6 turbo and build it out myself. All salesmen lie !!! I have bought one motorhome and two trailers at different dealers and they all lied. I payed under sticker price for my van, after walking away a few times. But I love my van. I'm in it under 60K and it's new.
Hi. Thanks for watching our video and taking time to comment We are delighted you live your van, we are looking for a van that makes us feel the same way Happy travels
We bought a new Adria Twin in 2022 because we wanted a proper alternative to hotels that would allow us to spend extended periods away (semi-retirement) . Haven’t regretted for a moment, many lovely long trips already and we still stay in a hotel when that suits.
Imho a seller refusing to negotiate on price isn’t being rude or unfriendly. Maybe the seller just insists on the price they’re selling it for. On the contrary, buyers making ludicrously low offers or refuse to accept that the price is firm are sometimes rude when this is made clear. Too many people think they are Mike Brewers.
Layout, layout and layout. Once you’ve decided what you want go to Oaktree Motorhomes in Nottingham. Brilliant service and no hard sell. They leave you to wander around looking at whatever you want. We bought ours from them 6 years ago and took out the 3 year warranty which was fully honoured when the engines water pump failed (which is what you want) Would def use them again
Hi. We agree with you that layout is important 🚐 A few people have told us about oaktree and all very positive! Word of mouth is a great advert 😁 Thank you very much for watching our video
My wife and I were in exactly the same boat. No negotiations, 'excellent condition' motorhomes, which were dreadful and poor performance (and rude!) by sales reps. In the end, we have bought a new van. We live in Germany and were surprised at how close new prices are compared to used vehicles. I'd recommend you have a look at new vans, where you can probably haggle for discounts and freebie add-ons. We pick up our van in two weeks and can't wait. We will also enjoy full warranty from Renault, for the chassis, and also full warranty from the coach manufacturer. We also have the peace of mind knowing that all the tech is up to date. We intend to keep this van for a good number of years, so we see it as an investment. Good luck and chin up! By the way, our van is a German make, Ahorn Alaska.
Hello. How are you? Thanks for watching and for your comment. We were stunned the guy who had a MH listed as immaculate and honestly when we got there it was like it had been at the bottom of the ocean for a decade!! 😞 We hope to bump into you on the road 🚐 Happy travels
You think buying a secondhand van is bad try buying a new one… we ordered a brand new Adria last August and told a 3 month wait… 15 months later we were told thanks for your patience’s waiting so long for your van but it’s went up £10,000 since you ordered it…What a way to treat people.
Hi. We have heard of this and our view is that it is ridiculous and should not be allowed. We are sorry to hear this. However, when you get it, it will be incredible 😍👍🚐 Thank you for watching
After working in the motorhome industry and for one mentioned in the comments as great salesmen, let me tell you most are sharks, we fitted white plastic shower board in lockers to hide damp filled plenty of floors with resin and over boarded cupboards to hide damp patches to mention just a few. My advice when buying a used motorhome is go to the bigger dealers they pass the rubbish onto the smaller dealers on a patch's of gravel who just knob them up minimum outlay maximum profit...
Hi Guys. Had very similar experiences when looking for a Motorhome. Visited Oaktree & Lincoln Leisure Vehicle on the strength of reviews on youtube and elsewhere, but both proved that the shabby second hand car dealer is now the shabby second hand motorhome dealer for all the reasons you have mentioned, and more. Also tried Motorhome Depot ....Asked for a test drive and the guy kicked off....accusing me of being a time waster!!!!!!. Anyway, eventually bought privately. Did all the homework, checks, exams etc and saved literally thousands. ( van is a 2020 Elddis Accordo 105: less than 6m) Cheers Russ
The problem is they have you over a barrel since there is so much demand for leisure vehicles! A dealership bought our 2 yr old van from us for £4.5k less than we paid but then put it up for £9k more than they paid us! We recently bought from Lowdhams ( 2021 plate ) and did manage some negotiation, knocked price down by £500 and they put a tracker in it but when we opened the purchase folder it still had all the original documents in it and we had paid a lot more than when it was knew! It’s how the market is 😮😮 Good luck. Persevere because you will find the right one, you just have to deal with particular types of people in the mean time!!! Xx
Get a caravan with a motor mover fitted. Ok, it might take a lot longer to get to your destination but it'll be tax free, no diesel costs, no MOT, not Ulez charges and life will seem much more relaxed.
Hi. Claire here and I live caravans!! This is a really good point and thank you for commenting and giving us really advice here. We wish you an amazing week ☀️
We had a brand new Elddis Motorhome that had a roof leak within 6 Months purchase and even though a 10 year water ingress warranty, the dealer which is one of the biggest in the East Midlands didn’t want to know, eventually sold the vehicle to another dealer and took a financial hit. We then decided to purchase a Swift Caravan from Lowdhams Nottingham, cannot fault their service and after sales. Good luck with your purchase.
@@Stchristopherofatlantis Solved the puzzle, yes we love our caravan thanks, also found that they don’t seal alround the roof light only 3 sides, I know it sounds bizarre but that’s what we were told and have also read the same. Love watching your shows and the effort you put in to be creative with a theme.
We've a 26 year old Autosleeper on Peugeot cab 63,000 miles and we love it, I have experience at work with Ford Transits 2017 -2020 with serious issues to cylinder head and injectors, please stick with Citroen- Fiat- Peugeot for reliability, love the videos, wondered what Claire was up to with those Tupperware boxes 😂😂😂 good luck with the search.
Love your vlog as I’ve mentioned before your morals and principles are like ours old fashioned but straight and honest unfortunately it’s not how many man6 people are today. Having watched this vlog I’m disgusted with these people’s rip off behaviour. Me personally I would have taken detailed photos and listed them along with the advert also warning people off going to buy . Free speech ,real facts and photos are not false or lying I think it would be extremely difficult for someone to sue you
Hello Jerry. Happy Monday! Good morals are priceless in our opinion. We thank you so much for watching and hope to see you out in your travels (in our MH!!!) … hopefully!
There is a place called oaktree or something they are supposed to be brilliant. They also fit extra solar next door if needed. That's where I'll go when I'm ready :)
Try Highbridge Motorhomes and Chelston Motorhomes in Somerset. We have bought from both in the past and been pleased with the service. We have owned an Autotrail van (which we hated... bits kept dropping off it), a Rapido which was really good quality; an Adria A class which was lovely but a very small payload; a Possl (German Globecar) which I really liked and was very solid; and we now have a Swift Mondial which I also really like. we have had A class, coachbuilt and now own a van conversion. The van conversion is so easy to drive, gives us 40mpg, has air suspension so nothing rattles and drives like a car.
I'm in the trade, run a branch of Highbridge. If you're up north try my friend Ben at Emm Bee Bury or Todd's or Campbells or Motorlands in Preston all good. Sounds like that was a nail of an ex rental, a lot of rental vans get hammered for 3 years. T line are decent vans, Benimar Mileo 202, Chausson 530 are other good 6m dropdowns. Higher quality options at ethe rapido 600 and 700ff, Adria Matrix 590, Burstner 585 or 595, older buy higher quality
Don't. Lose faith. There are great secondhand motorhomes out there. FYI ours is a 2018 MH that does NOT have adblue and is euro 6 compliant for all the zones when checking online. Fiat made such engines until 2018/19. Means to me none of the adblue potential issues in future. We recently bought a German MH from Elite motorhomes Banbury- good service, family run dealer, delivered on time, even gave a free night at local campsite for us to use/checkout MH to ensure no issues before we returned home. We will look there again when we next buy. Had British built MH before and must say the build quality and attention to design & detail of the German MH is in a different (better) league.
I thought it only fair to offer some advice from experience in twenty five years of owning motorhomes being involved in the industry for a while and having two brothers heavily involved in the van motor trade for forty years. Motorhome owning is a big commitment and you are right to be wary and standing strong on getting your purchase. Plenty of yt vids of owners having warranty work on many different brands. Rob and Lyn mention it recently on the number of times there van of just a couple of years age has been back in for warrenty work and very noticable in our friends network are build quality of Autofails. The Ruck Family recently having issues with their Roller Team which prompted a fair response from the community seemingly having the same issues. Sadly its not uncommon to hear tales of woe but from my brothers own mouths from their longtime in the van trade in that the least popular and most unreliable panel van the Fiat seems to be the conversion companies chassis of choice. They are baffled. I agree with the German brands generally being a better build but recently at the NEC we certainly questioned some of those on display so good luck and I hope it all turns out good for you and stay strong in your correct approach on not buying on impulse. Good luck.
Hi Paul, thanks for watching our video and a bigger thanks for your advice. We want to be sure we have the right layout for us and of course at an affordable price for us. We hope to see you out on our travels 🚐
We bought a scamp, here on Prince of Wales island, used it twice , and decided we didn't use it enough, but we can't get our selfs to sell it , so it sits in our back yard . Then we bought beach front property, we went all Gung ho on it at first even built the pad and rd now it sits, I haven't seen it in over a year, now we're just making beer, 😅 telling you all this while shaking my head !😂
Andrew love your Channel watch it all the time. You are are 90 percent right on your comments on buying motorhomes but I think you may be disappointed if you are expecting a price negotiation buddy. More buyers than motorhomes means dealers will wait for a buyer.
We looked and after a lot of deliberation and finding the same attitude of sellers to you and costs of 2nd hand motor homes we decided to buy new, 10 year warranty, 3 years mot and knowledge that there are no hidden faults
bought mine privately after long searching. you never get what you want it is always a compromise this one ticked all the box's but i'll stick with it and change interior elements as opposed to change the vehicle. thats motorhomes.
Really enjoyed your video. In my experience the only time you can get the dealer to negotiate on price is when you are sat opposite them across a desk and you have a pen in your hand. But you have got to make them believe that you are prepared to walk away if you don't get a discount. On dealers Todds Motorhomes at Preston are worth a look. Bob Earnshaw is a regular visitor and has done a number of RU-vid videos reviewing their motorhomes, both new and secondhand. Adria are quality vehicles and Signature Motorhomes in Preston are a good dealer. Good luck
We quickly knocked the idea of getting a motorhome on the head when we saw the tacky overpriced crap the dealers were selling - even those priced at £40,000 and above. Get a caravan. More room and luxury for less money, plus you have the freedom and flexibility of having your tow vehicle without having to pack away every time you want to go somewhere.
It's the same for buying a van online and local garages. I'm looking for a van to convert into a radio/part camper and I love the psa platform. Went to the local garage, unwashed, eml light on and when you drove it bellowing blue smoke. Tried to say it was because he had to jump start the battery so that was given a wide berth. Second experience was a huge van company, claiming awards, good trust pilot reviews with the odd duff report but vans advertised as low miles immaculate. Did the whole video walk around asked specific questions about condition paid my deposit and drove 7.5 hours to Wakefield. HERE was the van inside looking amazing. HOWEVER I did a walk around and discovered drivers door repaired and painted, side door repair and painted but not colour matched correctly to the rest of the body, rear bumper painted and then the opposite rear quarter filled and painted. Final find was the sill had been filled with filler, not even sanded properly and used a rattle can to paint it, no top coat, and that was that. Claimed he hadn't noticed but honestly you have to question the damage that occurred. 26000k van, 3 years old and 1 owner. They did however filled my tank with fuel after I asked and we parted ways for a total waste of a day with 15 hours driving. You have to be soooooo careful and don't be scared to ask questions. Too many dodgers out there Good luck with the search
Honestly sounds like it’s better to rent at this time because the automobile market is in a free fall right now and the RV market will be right behind that wait it out just my two cents
That lunch reveal made me genuinely laugh out loud 😂 seriously though, I used Motorhome Depot and I found the salesman to be open and above board. He pointed out the outstanding issues and didn't hide a thing. Ok, it wasn't perfect but it was decent for the price I was prepared to pay.
Did I spy Andy drinking from the glass you put a flower in claire 😆.... Nice prop at the end too 👌 Aside all that, good luck with your search for a bigger home on the road. It's great that you're sharing your experiences albeit it not being a positive run so far. If it saves others from falling fowl, you'll gain some knowledge at least, your journeys not been entirely in vain.... The right one will come along for you both and you can continue to make many more happy memories together. Ive got my Fingers crossed for you.🤞
Hiya Andy n Claire getting the right motor home with warranty a must, I live a couple of miles away from Kimberley caravans n motor homes Darlington just of the A1 , if there’s anything you seen on they website I can go have a look for you first to save you time n a journey , they are well know company with a branch at Nottingham as well , I own a motor home years ago n loved it, good luck .
Hi Trevor, Thank you for your very kind offer to do this for us 😍 We can’t wait to get ours, we find that motorhome owners wave at each other when they pass on the road and we love that!! 👋 Hope to see you on the road
Have faith, trying to find a good un, is like trying to find rocking horse ****. We searched high and low for months, traveling many miles to view, what were basically neglected rich man's toys, never serviced, habitation checked, cambelt needed replacing 5000mls ago and tires badly worn and out of date etc... and basically not cleaned in-sided and out. But keep searching and be prepared to cover some miles to view, and you will eventually find one that's been someone's pride and joy. A good tip would be perhaps go that extra £££ and get one that's a keeper, even if you have to spend a few quid for minor fixes. Trust me that's horses for courses regardless to it's age (new), cost and mileage etc.., anyway that's enough of me babbling on, good luck.👍
Glad you are keeping the humour coming. Great content as usual. We are hoping the motorhomes calm down in price by the time we buy. Gonna be 2024 or 2025 for us. I suppose you will just have to keep going to see what you like the look of. Good luck 👍
You know what you really want another campervan 😂😂 we got ours from Autocratic at Chesterfield and could nt rate them highly enough for customer service and after sales nothing too much trouble. I bet I know the company you went too regarding a motorhome in Hull. Bet it has a W in the title and is near South Cave. Going back a lot of years ago tried selling me a caravan that was too heavy for the car I had but was adamant it would be fine. Did a test two red lights one green light so would never trust them. I would seriously consider another campervan or what about a crafter or sprinter? Keep up the humour and good luck in your search. No need to rush make sure it's right for you both. 👍👍
Second hand RV’s generally overpriced and old and come with the same problems as us, they wear out, compare them to a 10 year old car which has a design life of 5-7 years, electric battery’s 3-4 years. The market is driven by driven by older people with money.
Hi Andy, Claire and Pablo. We are new to motorhoming and we originally looked T T590 but after looking around we decided on a Burstner 690g. We bought from Emmbee motors in Bury and couldn’t rate their sales high enough. We got a deal. All the sales crew are fab but we dealt with Elliott who was brilliant, helpful & knowledgeable. Good luck your MH is out there somewhere
Hi. This is great advice. We actually went to one place who was trying to sell a motorhome to us and when we asked questions said “I don’t know much about motor homes” We love Burstners, take care and happy travels 🚐
G'day happy campers..... we got out Autotrail Frontier Chieftain from Motorhome Depot. The guy was excellent to deal with, and actually dropped the price 4000 quid. we then bought it out to Tasmania, and what a treat...WE LOVE IT. Not perfect, but nothing we can't polish up. We've also been talking with Oaktree motorhomes (Gin Cl Way, Awsworth, Nottingham NG16 2HH, United Kingdom) about purchasing a second one for when we travel to the UK.... good luck with your moho shopping
Hi there. Wow are you in Tasmania? We are delighted you are loving your Autotrail. We hope to see you out on the road in our vans 🚐 Thank you for watching our video
Brilliant video one of the funniest things I’ve seen all week, well done . You are right about dealers and people selling motorhomes they seem to think they are doing you a favour. Used Motorhome dealers have had a good couple of years with their prices , a complete rip off and definite minefield. Nice to see Pablo make an appearance , take care 🚐👍
Your best getting the AA to check it before buying they will check vehicle's if you buy a vw you wont go wrong ther well made and parts are very easy to get unlike others
Hi Guys Two recommendations Lincolnshire leisure, Lincoln, privately owned, lovely people, trusted Glossops, north Derbyshire, same Both gave outstanding service and a deal!
Love the dry humour and all that stuff, we have an Adria but its a Ducato van conversion. Have you over looked van conversions or are you giving them a wide birth? We found motorhomes get issues with damp on a regular basis where a van conversion doesn't. Worth a look maybe as they are still bigger than St Chris'. All the best Andy & Lyn.
Hi Andy and Lyn, We are delighted you like the humour!! We have our heart set on a Motorhome now I think! Let’s see what happens 🤣🤣😀😀👍👍 Happy travels. Have a great week
I couldn’t imagine buying something so expensive from a private seller. There’s no warranty or anything. I’m sure there are plenty of honest, genuine sellers but I’d worry. My friend saw a car on Auto Trader recently and went to look at it. The ad described it as immaculate inside and out. It was filthy inside and out 😮😂 Like the seller you saw, this bloke couldn’t believe they didn’t want to buy it and had a go at them for wasting HIS time. You’ve got to go into this with your eyes wide open as there are some proper shysters about. I’m sure you’ll find the perfect van in time 👍🤞🏼
Hi. How has your week been? The guy we went to see said his van was immaculate but it was poor. Very poor. Not remotely immaculate 😂 We hope you have a fab week x
Have a look at Kimberley caravans at Darlington. I've had two caravans from them with good customer service and they also do motorhomes. Might be worth a shot. Another belter of a vlog guys.....
Vultures are waiting for retirement money in every industry Andy, kitchens, roofing, loft insulation you name it, everyone wants you to put the entirety of your pension into theirs. Love the show
Great video as always! It did wonder, the shot with the lemon next to a white rose….. We brought a motorhome that turned out to be a right lemon from a Yorkshire dealer with a similar name! Keep em coming guys good luck with MH shopping
You think you’ve had it bad. I had to have Sunday lunch at my mother in laws! Your notification came during dessert. I’ve never eaten apple crumble so fast in my life to get out of there on the premise that I had to go and see Andy and Claire. I wish you luck with the search and I watch with interest as it will be me and my wife Aby doing the same thing in spring.
@@Stchristopherofatlantis your last video notification came two minutes before I was about to attend a meeting. I cancelled it so I could watch you two instead! Don’t tell my boss! We need a 3-4 berth but we’re looking at the bigger panel vans rather than a motorhome. I like the new Bailey Endeavour B64 but it’s too new and therefore out of my price range. And if I keep cancelling meetings it always will be! I’m enjoying the search though.
🤐 our lips are sealed 🤐 We are so chuffed you watch out stuff. We hope to keep you engaged with what’s coming up! If you get the van we hope to bump into you guys 🚐
Keep looking you’ll find one that you want. Listening to your story I think we were very very lucky. What amazes me the dealers don’t often prepare them for sale until you’re ready to buy one. I looked at local dealer and not one was in a condition that I would accept. I pissed my sides laughing when you were looking for the card, question is did you find it.
My advice would be a Bailey of sorts had 3 brand new with odd problems but all sorted no problem had Swift would never buy another started with an 11 year old van to try out motorhoming and loved it never looked back now back to a Bailey 730 , 7 years old best van we ever had especially layout it wont be leaving us anytime soon .
Hi guys , really funny and informative video 😅 The secondhand motor home market is a very dangerous place. We have friends and family that have lost £ks buying secondhand. If you can't afford a new one with a decent warranty then stay well away . We are self's are caravaners and bought a new Bailey Unicorn Cabrera for £30k with a 3yr parts and labour warranty, extendable to 6yrs for a small fee. £69K for a Motorhome with 6mths warranty! No chance 😂
Hi. Thank you so much for watching our video and your advice. It’s a bit of a minefield 🚐 and we thought it would be much more straightforward 🤪 Hope to see you out on the road. Happy travels
My brother hired one for a holiday it was so much red tape. He lucky has own home. That's why go five star inclusive. What about your safety? Some sold home and brought a van, personality buy van if want but don't sell home maybe rent it or use van for trips or working away
From Doncaster. Bought new Elddis from Brownhills Newark so pretty much same distance for you. Few teething problems but great after sales. Spend abit more and get rid of the uncertainty.
Spend the extra money and go for a German built van, something along the lines of Hymer, Carthago or Weisburg. The build quality is better and will last you longer.
Evening, Andrew and Jo here, saw you at Brownhills. I understand that you’re keen to get going but personally I think that the market is swinging in your favour very quickly. It will very soon be a buyers market and dealers are trying everything to keep the prices high. Most sales people are paid commission on profit so need to make as much as possible on each deal because they won’t be selling the volume they were. Look at the car industry, huge discounts now available. Don’t want to talk the job down but people will have less to spend given the current £ situation, this will only mean dealers having to be more accommodating. The right van, layout, deal and dealer will come, I suspect dealers will be looking to raise cash at the end of every month very soon, with no trade in you will be I very strong negotiating position.
Hello Andrew and Jo. How are you both? 😀😀 Thank you for this, the tide has to turn at some point?! We hope to bump into you again, hopefully next time in our vans 🤞😊
@@Stchristopherofatlantisnot from personal experience but years of following YT channels most seem to have fair few problems in particular with certain brands.
Hi there, only just found you and subscribed, love the sense of humour of you both, chuckle every time we watch you 👍😂. Loved how the cupboard scenes ended, brilliant 🥴😂😂😂. We have a Rollerteam Pegaso 745, bit bigger than your looking for but we love ours. We bought it 2 years ago, only 18 months old from Don Amotts ( king of caravans) with, in my opinion a very poor after sales, to find after having for 2 days, it was dangerously over charging 😳 eventually sorted but no apologies for the dangerous state it left them. So doesn’t really matter what you’re looking at, I think the industry is the same all over 🙄. But after watching The Urban Motorhome, who works a little for Oaktree Motorhomes, they look like they offer a good service 👍 Hope this helps. Keep them humour coming, love it 🥰 😂😂
Hi. So delighted you found us and have subscribed. Welcome to our channel 😀 We love Rollerteam, we have hired 2 now and loved both. Sorry to hear about Don Amott after sales, sounds naughty of them to me We hope to bump into you on the road Have a great week
Just found this page on my RU-vid, looks pretty good so far, wishing you good luck on your travels. I’ve got to say, I had to ask my wife, how long has Jason Manford had tattoos?!! lol, Andrew doesn’t half remind me of him!! No harm meant… wishing you well for the future.. stay safe, enjoy. We’re from Yorkshire living in Alberta Canada.
Hello fellow Yorkshire folks 😀 we are so glad you found us and welcome to our channel 👍 Thanks for watching and we wish you a great evening Jason Manford 😂😂😂😎
It's good to see challenging content rather than the happy-clappy, everything is great perspective, that many channels fall into. A bit of a dry set of thoughts from me... Looking back over the last three or four years, the industry seems to have inflated prices by at least 30%. I suppose it is in keeping with the car industry and economy in general and also reflected in house prices in the UK. One option is to wait it out and let market forces bring prices down again. There's no guarantee that prices will come down. They may go up further before they come down. I do feel however that value v price is out of balance. I'm looking for a van too and right now it is a seller's market, plus plus. As buying is really an emotional purchase rather than a necessity, sellers tap-in to that emotional need and use it to their advantage. It's their leverage. And when demand outstrips supply, they know it and sadly, they exploit it to the max. Then, there's always the probability of cognitive dissonance post purchase aka buyer's remorse as they say in the US. So, the only time buyers will regain some leverage to negotiate is if buyers stop buying the over-inflated prices and force the market to balance back to value = price. I think that will take a few annual cycles to be realised if it rubs its course naturally. The irony is that buyers allow the inflation because they carry on buying. If every buyer in 2024 took the stand that they would not order or buy a van, then dealers and manufacturers/converters would be forced to reduce prices faster. Unlikely. I think the target is min 25% reduction allowing for some natural inflation but removing the artificial inflation. That will probably take some time to achieve. I did say dry thoughts...
Hi. Thanks for watching and your comment is very interesting, definitely an emotional purchase 🚐 we are being sensible and think we may have found our dream van!! Oooooo exciting 🤪👍 Have a great evening
We are changing our motorhome (it would not be suitable for you guys). We understand what you say. Too many sales people, who are indifferent and frankly off hand. These businesses have profited from Covid, when demand far outstripped supply. I believe that they will shortly change their tune, due to high interest rates which makes borrowing so much higher, recession and over supply. The dealers are hiding the downturn in trade. Many dealers appear over stocked. On balance, we are not going to have anything to do with these muppets until September, when I believe demand will be lower and many of these businesses, (if they survive that long) will be strapped for cash. The UK's attitude to customer care is poor. I anticipate that many of our European neighbours would have sighed with relief when they heard that we had voted to leave the UK. Something about 'Manners maketh man------------- Good luck with your search.
I like your style a bit of humour is appreciated. We used Motorhome Depot (Notts) and were very pleased with our purchase, admittedly we were on a budget that was 'considerably lower than yawwwers' lol.
I spent a month, welding up a camper during lockdown... Not for me. It was an elderly couple, who bought the van to take their grand kids on trips. Normally i will not touch them. Most campers are built on the cheapest van chassis.. It, apparently needed, two small plates welded in the wheel arches.... Hundreds of photos later, explanation every day, why...and to what iwas doing... Normally i would have said NO! ITS SCRAP, but i know they had been scammed out of 23k A month to make it safe...and really road worthy... The powers that be, really need to tighten up the MOT for corrosion ... And all these campers suffer from it.... Just spraying black waxoil underneath, doesnt solve anything.... Rant over....
Hi, Thanks for watching our video, this really is a terrible story, how can someone could do that to an elderly couple is beyond us. Wishing you the very best
Hi guys, think youve been misinformed about the Adria. We have a 2018 dethleffs euro 6 without ad blue and its clear on all the zones. I would double check the info, maybe you can buy the Adria. X
I sympathise with you because it's a big decision and a minefield out there with regards to motorhomes. Personally I feel it's so important to get the dealership right, finding someone you can trust because it definitely doesn't stop with buying the motorhome. You want a comprehensive warranty and they have to be capable enough to fix it when things go wrong both with the habitation side and the vehicle servicing. I cannot recommend a dealership to you because I live in Somerset which is obviously too far for to travel, having said that we bought our current motorhome from a dealership near Chichester which is a three hour drive for us. It was a new Dethleffs in 2021 when the five local dealerships to us didn't have anything we liked and one dealership didnt have any motorhomes, new or second hand. They had sold everything literally, the market then was crazy. I personally wouldn't buy a Roller team or an Auto-trail and I wouldn't buy a Ford Transit based motorhome especially if it's for long term ownership? The Ford has a wet timing belt which costs approx £1000 to have replaced and is an all day job, the timing belt deteriorates in the oil, it starts to break down and clogs the internal oil screen. It should be replaced much sooner than Ford recommend. I stress this is my choice not to buy Ford. What about the motorhome dealership in Barnsley? They sell Itineo motorhomes which are a subsidiary of trigano group. Sorry to ramble on a bit and I was pleased to see Pablo near the end. 👍
Hi. How are you? We love Dethleffs, How are your getting on with it? We have some articles suggesting Fiat is a better base. Thank you for continuing to watch us and Pablo sends a woof 🐾
Morning gang. Initially we absolutely loved it, it has the German layout, twin singles at the back, central kitchen and washroom opposite it and a 1/2 dinette at the front. It also has a huge garage which in my opinion an absolute must because if you're going away for any length of time you can carry any manner of gear. We always go to Scotland for anywhere between 4-6 week's. Luckily it came with 2 years warranty both from Dethleffs and Fiat. The biggest problem was getting it fixed & looked at. Six weeks wait for both just to look at it & then waiting for approval from the manufacturer & then another 6 weeks once approval had been agreed. So you see buying new isn't all it should be. I don't know what Marquis are like but they do have 13 dealerships and will get any motorhome to the nearest dealership to yourselves. At the moment they are offering 3 years warranty which sounds great? They also seem to have lots of other offers too but their prices are absolute top money. The three faults with ours were fixed under warranty, one by the supplying dealership and the other two by our local dealership. The Fiat issue is ongoing and I'm still waiting to hear back. Like I said in my original comment it's a minefield of choice for the motorhome & the dealer. We are thinking of changing now the warranty is coming to an end, for me it's all about being able to get it fixed. Honestly stay clear of the Ford, Fiat/ Peugeot & Citroen is better. Conventional cambelt is cheaper to replace & remember it's 5 years or 50,000 miles to replace. Ford claim higher but the belt is immersed in the oil which degrades the belt.
@@Stchristopherofatlantis Good luck at the Marquis dealership, I hope you find something you like at a cost you can afford. I have just been lookin at their website and it does appear that they do have a large selection. I would be very interested to know how you get on, most likely you will upload a video?
The prices now are going to go down so you both just wait a few months. Dont touch anything made here. Hymer or Adria . But do look at how those companies build there units. Thats if your going for new. Good hunting.
I highly recommend buying a good van or bus and convert it into a motorhome. I've looked into motorhomes and even across the pond, they are 100% junk! Way too many "brand new, had to go into the shop right away" and "I didn't have it for a month and had to pay". I'd clean all that up as President, as over here, that is where a lot of those motorhomes are made. :P
Hi. We have considered this, and although Andy had a go at converting St Chris fancy a van that had already be done for us. Saying that, never say never Thank you for watching Have a great week ☀️
From selling out first van it took 15 months and about 3500 miles travailing the country up and down until we got lucky and got replacement.. That was pre covid and i think things are now a lot worse . i have just sold that van after seven years of ownership so now need another van . It will all start again but I am thinking if I manage it in under two years I am doing well . Nothing is ever what it seems and as you said prices are crazy and no negotiation. I think you are cutting your options by worrying about congestion charges . If you do end up where you have to pay a few quid a couple of time does it matter . We personally never go into towns as we just stay rural . We have been all over europe and never had a charge in a euro 4 engine.. As you said Adria or a German van top of my list Possibly french next . Roller Team near the bottom with the British ones . Sad to say that but just my opinion . Good luck finding the perfect van . You will get it wrong the first time ...ask any motorhome owner but you have to start somewhere . Only thing is mistakes cost a lot more theses days. Happy hunting.
Hope you find your van. Not a easy process I have looked for a good while. Everything has a issue of some kind attached. Keep looking houses atm are the same so my son tells me. Keep vlogging
But confused about Euro 6 Adblue in Sheffield. Ours is a 2017 Sunlight (Dethleff group) Euro 6 but not Adblue. Govt website says charge free in Sheffield. If they give you the reg you can check easily.
Hi. We are not sure how it works. My car is 2016 and Euro 6 no Adblue and free. I wonder if they just make it up!! Hope you are well and thanks for watching
