/ oveous Oveous from Washington Heights unleashes his voice to tell the world that cat calling women is not so cool... includes full introduction from Mos Def.
I remember meeting him at a poetry slam for my high school, in which I was a participant, (I ended up in second place my high school was also in Washington Heights, NY) in like 2004, and it was a liberating experience to meet him when I was only 16 years old. (I believe that the face on his t-shirt is his deceased brother, he spoke about it at the jam, very enlightening.)
he was at my school today. he did this poem. i almost fainted. i got some pictures with him, he is really cute. but he doesn't have any dreads anymore. but he is so damn talented
finaly the video to salcedo's breakdown! since ive seen it on HBO iand they dont have it on on demnad anymore i havent seen it and really really like and im only 15!a true INSPIRATION!
I am so glad that someone else has taken the time to point out that gaming "achievements" do not translate into real world success. At least not for the majority of people.
He got rythym, stands for what he believes but at the same time knows he isnt perfect, he actually feels what hes saying it feels natural doesnt feel like if he sings, yells, laughs or moans that it was rehursed for the purpose of a little bit more emphasis on what he says plus good message and hes unique.
I love this poem and i think he is great orator! But the truth is I saw another one of his poetry and he seems like a player!!! But the poem itself is beautiful!
@1FLOt : i believe he is talking about himself; he says he isn't perfect; he makes the mistake of using the word B**** to insult someone (possibly a womyn); which he acknowledges as being disrespectful. This entire poem is about how its NEVER ok to disrespect a woymn. not that you can pick and choose which ones "deserve" it. -then again, as most poetry or art, it is up for interpretation. All I can say is, in my opinion, its not your place to decide who is and isn't a "lady".
God im so glad he point this out as a Latina Women I hate having to hear men whistle at me like im some kind of dog...Ugh i hate those kind of men if that isn't the biggest sign of disrespect idk what is!
By saying she had influence over him I wasn't suggesting he never influenced her- in their marriage, not in work. That's why your comment made no sense because if you really thought he had all the influence it wouldn't matter.
I don't think he's actually talking about making music, I think he's talking about people who get the wrong ideas about how life is from certain musical 'artists'.
yeeah baby.. my real name is Ovidiu, no bulsh..its a latin name Ovidius..big big poets acroos the history got this name...yeah i feel this guy great expresion. peace! and yo check this out it aint got a female form the name OVI
@Whayoutalkingaboot - I feel you man.. this is Oveous. just to clarify, pussycats.. not pussy. a play on the word.. "whatup cat" besides, we as men, degrage women allll the time. its ok to call out the fellaz once in a blue espcially if they deserved it. but your point is well noted. thanks for listening.
I wasn't talking about the marriage.I was wondering why you thought it necessary to mention that he has influence over her if he has all the power anyway, what would it matter? I don't believe Ieft the first comment on that, no.
