Have been a fan of the 3.875 stroke sbc ever since I bought myself a Klein 421 back in 97 and put it in my 66chevelle and bracket raced it I almost painted a 5.95 on it once I got the alcohol system jetted properly it started xeroxing time slips and hunting final rounds I raced that engine for 10 years before I rebuilt it and it looked like new when I did ( Tom Klein home of the killer 421sbc)😮

Just found this, all I can say is true tales of a real drag racer. I can believe that this motor make's this HP. There is a lot of little things that you have done to it to get it to the rpm' s. I've built numerous SBC 302 chevy's for road course car's and can't believe we were that close to your numbers. Just one great motor, I like the intake you have designed for it. Lots of behind the scenes on that.

It amazing to me what technology has help build HP. I cut my teeth on a DZ 302 in 1971 at 12 years old Beeline Dragway Scottsdale/Mesa AZ working on my Oldest brother's dragster with Heads, rod and piston and Cam. It ran a 9.12 quarter mile. Love a great 302 sbc. Grateful for your channel

Yes the aromatics vent off the fuel when not sealed. I run two stroke Mx bikes and can use lower octane fuels and it lasts a while- but fresher fuel always makes a difference. Thx for your channel. Really , this is good stuff

I've always been told race fuel is a much higher quality & lasts longer, like two years. I don't know for fact, but for the price of race gasoline, it should last much longer. I've always been a fan of pump gas, but I doubt any small block N/A engine can make 850 plus HP on 93 unleaded pump gas. Great video & awesome SBC.

Hey Boogie Man, what does your car run in the quarter mile, with that kind of horse power it should be somewhere in the high 8s' or low low 9s and provided you can get those 10.5 slicks to hook now that would be the ultimate test but not too many quarter mile track down south I do know that there are tons of 1/8 mile tracks through out the south I dig what you're doing keep up the content and inspire some of these young kids to follow in the gasser class

It can run 5.40 easy in the 1/8 using the clutch every shift. We have all ready done that. And that's on 10.5s. I was at Drag Week last year. And they had me penalized to 10.0 seconds. Because of my license. So honestly I have never made a full out 1/4 pass. But I believe it will run high to middle 8's.

@3madeamps

how can a oil accumulator help with power ???
@boogietech
@boogietech 4 месяца назад
Basically it pull oil and that cuts down windage. And the more windage you get rid of. The more power you will make. That’s why dry sumps more power over a wet sump.
@shvrdavid
@shvrdavid 4 месяца назад
Not only can accumulators reduce windage, they can reduce friction and parasitic drag in a few ways as well. You also get far more windage (and power loss, and cooling) at the beginning of the run because the engine is technically overfull of oil, which is actually an advantage. You get much more even oil supply pressure during the run when using an accumulator. But what really helps is the reduction in parasitic drag from the oil pump not pegging the pressure instantly, or at all depending on the setup. That all adds up to less parasitic drag, over time. Which results in more power, over the run. When you use an accusump setup for drag racing, your oil pressure curve changes as you go down the track as it fills the reservoir. It may not follow the rpm right away because the oil system literally has a leak filling the accusump. You can change the rate of that curve as well, with line size, orifice size (if used), and reservoir piston return pressure. Switching to a crescent style oil pump (versus the stock spur gear type) will reduce the parasitic drag even further. All of this means less parasitic drag for a few seconds as the reservoir fills.
