It all Started in California. I never spilled any fuel with the old flex spout. With the new "compliant" rigid spouts I spill fuel every time.

They are more expensive but I recommend the VP racing fuel cans/spouts. I have 8 or more of them and I can not imagine using anything else in the 5 gallon size.

The newer "safe" spouts are messy. How is spilling gas about every time you use it safe?

Allow me to explain the "Why" behind these stupid Gas Caps: Our fuel now has Ethanol in it. Ethanol, known better to y'all as "Moonshine," is very "Hydrophilic." (That's a BIG word that means, "It REALLY likes Water.") So much so, it pulls water from the very air itself, so that it may bond with water. This destroys our Gas Mower in one season, because YOU AND I ARE TOO STUPID TO NOT LOSE THE GAS CAN'S CAP, OR EVEN USE IT IN THE FIRST PLACE, SO IT CAN'T GET ANY WATER FROM AIR. The Fancy Caps are for no other reason than to CLOSE THE LID ON THE GAS CAN. This is NOT the reason I am glad gas engines are going bye-bye. The reason is, I HATE PULLING STARTER CORDS.
