Second video in a series playing along to a complete 1975 show.
DRUMS ENTER AT 1:25
This is playing along with the mammoth Seattle Center Coliseum show from March 21 1975. The soundboard recording of this show became available fairly recently. It features some of the longest ever performances of No Quarter and Dazed and Confused, and is one of their longest ever performances.
My intention here is just to demonstrate playing along in the moment and improvising, not necessarily trying to learn all the songs note for note. I am recording these in rapid succession, several songs in each day, just for fun.
One of the challenges of playing along with these live shows is the tempos can be pretty elastic and sometimes the lads get off from each other, or it can be hard to hear exactly what's going on while thrashing away. With that in mind, there may be some "looseness" about these videos, and there may be glitches and an occasional blunder too. But, that is part of the fun of playing along...its not meant to be clinically perfect.
Hope you all enjoy the series! There will be a Playlist with all of the songs in order.
Thanks for watching and please subscribe !

Best over the hills and far away live for the drums is Dallas 75. The way he keeps the left foot going the whole time. This is right up there.

Love how y’all did the beginning. I love it all of course, but watching and listening to the actual live recording, then quick cut to George to start the drumming, super cool. Great energy, George. You put something awesome into this one. Just a class act. World class. Phenomenal on all levels. Ty for this!

Thanks Keith, really appreciate that. Yes, for once I thought it would be cool to have the complete song , even without the drums. I don't often do that because of copyright flagging, and I also assume most people just want to cut to the chase and see the drums. I prob won't do that with Rain Song for example or the epics like NQ and dazed.. They're just too long .

Most drummers 99 percent keeping the beat 1 percent fills, reverse that with John Bonham. I saw them two weeks before the Seattle shows in Dallas for my fourth and final time had a direct view of John Bonham and George captures his playing body style his exact relation to the drum set I mean you can’t get any closer to the real thing.

I heard your name on Howard Stern today from a really old show recording. The caller had seen Willie Page with Kashmir at the Ritz in 1992. You blew his mind that night i guess. He was calling in because he thought someone in the band looked like Howard. Radio gold

George, has anyone ever told you that you look quite like Robert De Niro. The first cover I ever watched of yours was Moby Dick studio cover, and De Niro came to me in my mind straight away. Me being a big fan of him, it drew me more and more into your channel. You have a closer talent on this earth to Bonzo other than Jason. THE BONHAMITE!

I running out of words to compliment your exceptional skill brother. Just thanks for making another video G. Hey those are your 602s right, do you know the weights by any chance? Are they pre serial, thanks
@BONHAMOLOGY
@BONHAMOLOGY 4 года назад
The ride is a pre serial 602, and unfortunately, after recording the first 6 songs , I discovered a 3/4 inch crack off the edge. I'm really fucking bummed about it. It was prob already there to some extent and I hadn't noticed it, but I'm sure all the heavy bashing made it spread very quickly. I have a reissue 24 2002 that I should've used for these videos, it is much more durable than the old 603 B20 alloy. This 24 is a bit lighter weight, but I haven't weighed it yet. 😖
@BONHAMOLOGY

@markkugs6622
@markkugs6622 4 года назад
@@BONHAMOLOGY oh man really sorry to hear that. It was a great sounding cymbal. I thought it was a giant beat ride. You can cut around the crack? It was probably pretty expensuve. I will be glad to donate and i am sure others will also, towards another for xmas if you can find another one? You have brought happiness and knowledge to us all with your videos. I really mean that. But i thought your hi hats were 602s thats what i was asking about.

Awesome job! Only thing I noticed is bonzo might be just slightly behind the beat more and he uses double stick hits on the snare to cymbal parts bam bam, bam bam, bam parts but exceptional job. His feel is one thing that makes him SO great, I know it’s knit picky and not really even worth saying but...anyway really exceptional sir
@BONHAMOLOGY
@BONHAMOLOGY 4 года назад
Thanks. He did play a bit behind the beat at times and pushed at others, especially during fills or more agressive parts like the guitar solo. I am adding the audio track after I mix the drum track with the video so its not aligned exactly either. Also, he did not play flams into the cymbal crashes on this song.

RR-IMTOD is hard to beat from this show as well as the encore with CB-HB (insane version!), Plant actually sang R&R decently for once since 72, not the higher melody like 72 but much of 73 and 75 he sang lazy, voice cracking and croaks etc., Here he must have had coke voice, so he was pushing it and numb maybe?
