I love how naive and nice is Chin, he is fighting for the photo that Fei Fei wants so her father doesn't marry his. He is doing it for sister sister, not knowing that actually what she wants is to not be his family.

What I loved about the movie was that it was never confirmed that she was evil or bad. Before Fei fei gets to the moon, she’s told by her family that Chang’e took the immortality pills for herself, that she was selfish - her story, her mythology wasn’t about true love as Fei fei was raised to believe. So when we finally see Chang’e and how she acts, we’re led to think that she could be the villain - that what the family said was true. But then when Chang’e finally sees Houyi again, we’re then lead to think that Fei fei was right and her story was always about true love. Either way, it’s never confirmed what truly happened - which is the beauty of mythology in general. Many cultures can have multiple versions of the same legend and yet not one is confirmed to be the one true version. For all we know, the family’s version of the story could have been true all along and Chang’e was actually selfish from the start, but then she eventually became remorseful and wanted the chance to rectify her past decisions by trying to see Houyi again.
You know, is not the first story where a human beats a goddess at some match. Athenna also lost at a knitting contest. The human winner didn't end very well, way worse than Chin. He was lucky, a deity's anger is not a joke. Never.
@@chilleroftheknight Well, as a matter of fact, I think she is, or crafts to be fair, or else Aracne wouldn't have chalenged her to a knitting contest. In other variations of the myth, the reason she was turned into a spider was because she she draw on her knited piece was really offensive, and Athena was mad about that rather the perfect work Aracne did, over her own piece not being as good.

Also, it wasn't a knitting contest. It was a weaving contest- like, tapestries. Athena was the goddess of weaving, and Arachne had been boasting about how she was the best weaver, better than even Athena. Athena disguised herself as an old woman and told Arachne that she should pay her respects to the goddess, or risk Athena's wrath. Arachne laughed in her face, and said, "If Athena thinks she's better than me, she should come down here and challenge me herself!" Athena immediately revealed herself, and took her up on the challenge.

I love this. Chang'e is just so sure she's going to win because everything in her world goes according to her wishes. It's a world she created so of course everything happens the way she wants. But in comes this boy who is great at *Earth* ping pong, who adjusts so fast to "Lunaria rules" that includes chaotic balls, deliberate manipulation, and very light gravity, to the point that he WINS what is clearly a very rigged game. It's such a shock to the emotional Chang'e that all she can do is run away.
Still cannot believe that the voice actress for Chang'e (hope I spelled that right) played Eliza in Hamilton 5 years ago...Phillipa Soo is really talented.

I gotta say, when I went into this movie I was so worried Chin would be obnoxiously annoying like a lot of kid characters can be. I ended up being pleasantly surprised that he's genuinely a sweet kid with a lot of energy. I have to wonder if his mom had talked with him before he met Fei Fei explaining the situation with her and her family, to help him better understand what Fei Fei might've been going through.
This is one of my favorite scenes/songs in the movie. When I first watched this movie I was like “wow...” and now I can’t stop watching it. Over the Moon is now one of my favorite movies.
