A 28-year-old Carnival cruise passenger fell overboard for 15 hours in the Gulf of Mexico. Whitney Gaines was on the ship and says the missing passenger's family was desperately looking for him. As the cruise ship turned and retraced its path looking for the man, a U.S. Coast Guard search team spotted him about 20 miles off the coast of Louisiana. He was waving desperately and struggled to keep his head above water. The man was hauled aboard a helicopter and taken to a hospital.

@eddvcr598
@eddvcr598 Год назад
@Shannon L IKR? The only reason I can think is maybe your face can get splashed more easily while floating on your back in rough/choppy water and can potentially inhale in water? But that would happen if you’re treading water as well 🤔 I really don’t get how treading water is considered the most energy efficient way to stay above water. I remember being so utterly exhausted after an exercise in which we all had to tread water for 30 minutes straight. I asked why we can’t just float on our backs if we wanted to save energy, and all the swim teacher said was that treading water is supposed to be the least strenuous way to keep our heads above water, with which I absolutely disagreed.

Maybe that could save time and not 15 hours later coming back to save him, in this case it’s lucky they didn’t find a dead body.
