I'm 23 now and I'm finally coming into myself. I took the time when the pandemic hit to know myself deeper and I've never been more happy with myself. I'm glad I've found this season in my life. It's still a long journey for me but I'm happy it's starting.

I'm so payat back then, at the age of 30, I gain weight dahil nagka baby and everyone tells me na mataba ako and wag na pa subra ng kain, even sa pictures wala ng maayos na angle!. I felt so insecure. Nung 1 year old na si baby. I started to find ways lose weight ( one cup rice per meal) and started to see the progress. I'm happy. What I've learned that not all people who tells negative are negative. Actually, it's not even negative. It's the truth that hurts. However, it's the "mataba na ako" that I hear in my head that pushes me to continue bcos feeling good about myself makes me happy and hearing them say that "uy, pumayat ka ng konti ate ah!" Makes me happy na.😊

This topic just made me realize what a beautiful parallel it has to my own misconceptions of the world vs God's standards of beauty. I so echo your tendencies for preference of natural, organic make up & that it should only enhance what you innately, already have rather than hide or change one's looks. And yes, I too, have that stocky, Jewish/Hispanic pear-shaped bod, small-boobed (that nursed 2 kids as well) & quite-heavyset pair of thighs now at 41yo. But the best part past this insecurities, is knowing that God created me, to His definition of unique perfection & what matters most, is my heart. Still a work in progress here, but very blessed to have Our Loving Abba Father, to whom, I am enough, loved & worth it🥰🙏

I love this Ms. Rica! Thank you for talking about this. Whenever I'd feel down, I'll make myself watch this. I have been a Christian ever since I was 9, I grew up in Sunday School and was homeschooled for 9 years. I believe that everyone is beautifully and wonderfully made by the Lord, but when I entered highschool/college that's when I became very insecure about my looks. I actually teared up a little when you were talking about your own insecurities, I think that more influencers should be open about theirs, too. I would like to appreciate you for doing this! Don't you just love it when a video you're watching is something you can relate to?? HAHAHAHA! Sobrang relate ko sa "I cannot see myself pretty but cool" --growing up even if sabi ng nanay ko ang ganda ganda ko at mas maganda ako sa mga pinsan ko... hahahaha... di pa rin ako lumapit sa ganda ng mga kaibigan ko. I even felt like I was the ugliest in our barkada in highschool. Ako yung kapag may nakasama akong lalaki na kabarkada, hindi nila ako ipapakilala na girlfriend kunwari kahit pajoke lang... kasi nga... di ako kagandahan... And I even wondered, bakit ganun? I see beauty in all of my friends in all shapes, colors and sizes, and I always find them beautiful but I always find myself...meh. 10 years after that, dun ko pa naramdaman ang glow up na sinasabi nila... I started accepting my features, and embracing the physical marks that God has strategically placed as my own uniqueness. And I realized, hindi pala ako - hindi maganda - kundi, hindi lang talaga maayos at malinis. HAHAHA. Hindi ako marunong mag-ayos kasi nga di ko tanggap kung sino ako... But then, when I met Jesus, slowly through the years, I appreciated my eyes being my most beautiful feature, my nose, my lips, my big chunky two front teeth, my athletic body, and I started dressing up according to my own comfort, and I stopped making sabay sa trend and embraced my own, comfy, malinis na dress up in reflecting who I am in God. And ngayon ko lang din nadiscover ang skin care! ahhahahaha. Dati safeguard lang solb nako... pero narealize ko na a healthy skin is a skin na naaalagaan...kasi diba, ang naaalagaan nagfoflourish.
