Overcoming Loneliness - Dr. Charles Stanley 

As a believer in Christ I too struggle with loneliness. I have been single for several years and it can be frustrating. I can only cry to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Prayers for all those who are struggling. 🙏

I’m approaching 40. Never been married, never had kids. I’ve seen literally all my friends get married and have families and buy homes and go on vacations. I love Jesus with all my heart. I’ve been praying for years for a husband and family. But I stopped praying I’ve just completely given up. I’m always surrounded by women and families and believe it or not but it makes me feel worse. I know I’ll be a Bride in Heaven. My home is with Jesus in the Heavens. So exhausted from the heart break and disappointments. I’m ready to go home.

Another cure for loneliness. Ask God to lead you to someone (maybe elderly) who's lonely and spend time with them bringing sunshine into their day. Doing something for someone else will bring great joy and takes focus of off ourselves.

"When God stops you from a relationship, He is saving you from disaster." Amen.

My husband of 38 yrs left me Nov, 2022 & my mother passed away April 2023…the 2 people I have had in my life the longest… I feel it in my entire body… stomach, muscles, bones, heart & mind…I’m 62… if I didn’t have the Lord with me through this…it would be far far worse, thank you Jesus that you’ll never leave me❤️🩸

For you who are single, I am married to a man who stopped sleeping in bed with me 7 years ago and now doesn't touch me at all. So even in a relationship some of us have the same lonely emptiness. I pray for you, please for me, for us.

100% I know this message is for me. God is speaking directly to me through this as this has been my major battle right now. I'm 19 and going through extreme loneliness as a college student who's Christian in Los Angeles of all places. Please pray for me. EDIT: Just want to say thank you to everyone who has said they're praying for me even almost three years later. I'm 22 now. Although not perfect, things have changed tremendously for me. I now have brothers I'd take bullets for, direction and purpose in life and so much more thankful for.

I am 49 years old and true friendship has been hard to find even in the church. I am so thankful for King Jesus. He builds me up time after time. Stay hopeful and prayerful. Wait on God's timing and blessings for true friends. God bless you all.

My beautiful wife of 36 years died from brain cancer in 3 weeks since we found out. So sudden and unexpected that it rocked my world with loneliness. All I have in this world is the hope and love of God, the Lord Jesus Christ. I talk with Him and He talks with me and it is enough. I trust Him and obey Him as much as I can. Thats all I can do. At 72, theres not much hope of finding another who loves me. I get it, but it's really tough because God is love and we all need to be loved. Things happen for reasons even if we don't understand. Lean not on your own understanding. Oh Lord, why would you be mindful of me? Thank you dear Lord Jesus.

Loneliness is painful. No one to hold and hug. An emptiness fills my heart.

First time in my life I am struggling with this. I never minded being alone. I had many family and friends I could reach out to. But now, later in my life, most are gone. Deceased. My grandma, my aunt's, my mother, my best friend of 40 years, my former husband and father of children... many cousins... I am so lonely and feel so heart broken I cry so often. I just WEEP. Loneliness has always gotten me into toxic relationships. I pray that I may feel Gods presence and embrace this season of being alone. In Jesus Holy name Amen.

I feel so out of place in this world.... People don't understand my walk with God. The path is extremely narrow and lonely...I know others are on the same path but I don't see them.....

I started drinking when I was 16. I would drink at parties, but I also started drinking alone because I was unhappy, and I was in a lot of emotional pain all the time. My mom was very aggressive when I was younger, and my brother hated her and so did I. He started hanging out with shady people, he started failing all his classes, he was never home, and my parents fought all the time. I also ran away several times. I was always trying to figure out a reason as to why I was here or what the purpose of life was. So, I started looking at different philosophies, religions, and beliefs. When I was 18 after I was hungover, I got on my knees and I prayed for the first time. I asked if God was real that he would show me he was real because I couldn’t take it anymore. I was crying when I prayed for this. At that moment I felt a presence come over me like a wind. It was barely noticeable, but it was unlike anything in my life I had experienced up until that point. I was surprised when I felt it and I remember saying “what was that?” after that experience I pretty much forgot what happened and kept partying, until my senior year when I got arrested. After my arrest, my parents lost all their trust in me and I was expelled from high school. I was told never to come back. At that time, I felt afraid and hopeless. That’s when I started looking for God, and I prayed that he would reveal himself in my life and that he would give me signs. My prayers began getting answered so consistently that I couldn’t deny that God was doing something. It was mysterious and compelling. I ended up in Church and started reading the bible hours a day. I stopped hanging out with all my other friends because they were continually getting arrested. I was able to forgive my family and myself and to ask to be forgiven. I noticed how at Church people were judgmental and how they formed cliques but were afraid to be around anyone else different from them. It increased my faith because I realized Jesus was not like that and ever since I was young, I saw people as people regardless of who they were. After a while, it’s like I could see God's presence was in my life and then it felt like he wasn’t, and then he was, and then he wasn’t. One day I woke up and felt more depressed than I ever have in my entire life. I felt like I was dying on the inside. That night I prayed, and I said, God, I don’t see my life five years from now I'm going to die Jesus save me Lord, please save me. I was weeping when I said it and when I asked him to save me, I felt a presence inside of me like a heartbeat, and I felt it once like a pulse, and I said Lord please save me and I felt it again even stronger. It was like radiance. When I woke up the next morning, I had transformed everything felt brand new like I was a kid again. All my fears and all my racing thoughts everything was gone. I looked at my hands, and I said this can’t be real it’s impossible. When I looked at myself in the mirror, I saw a different person. I started praying, and the holy spirit became entirely real to me it was washing over me and inside of me. It was total love and peace, and I heard a voice but not an audible one, it was an inner voice. It said I am with you; I love you, I will never leave you, it’s done it’s finished. That was May 3rd, 2009, and ever since then I’ve followed God, I have seen many things change and many things I know wouldn’t have changed without faith and belief. I know what it’s like to be lost to feel you have no hope. Don’t ever think you’re stuck, or life can’t change because it can. My mom is a Christian now, Its night and day. Some of the things that went away during that period were severe anxiety and my addiction to alcohol. I’ve seen and experienced so many things that are miraculous and seen how God has worked in my life. When we ask God to forgive us for what we’ve done and turn away from our sins and wrongdoings and we believe in Christ's sacrifice everything changes. His word says if we confess with our mouths that Jesus is Lord and believe in our hearts that he died and rose again we will have eternal life but not just life after death but abundant life in the present. Our sins are erased not only past, present, and future but our burdens and fears are lifted also. Our thoughts, our minds, our hearts, our souls are transformed and united with God and we know his spirit lives in us. If you seek, pray, and knock you will know JESUS IS KING!!! HE LIVES!

Rejection, neglect, abuse by family and a number of bad choices have left me lonely. I struggle to see and experience God for who He really is. I never married and have no children. Please pray for me.

I needed this today. I have lived with chronic illness, pain, and suffering for years and it is the most lonely experience in the world. I've been up all night long feeling crippled with loneliness. Thank God for Dr. Stanley. He helps me not to lose my mind! Thank You LORD for this servant of yours. I pray that everyone feeling lonely right now would feel Your touch.

I'm in my 40's & I've struggled with isolating myself from being hurt from people & unfortunately it has led to loneliness for years..always on the search for love...starting with me & here I am!!

🏖 there's a huge difference from being "alone", and "lonely". I live alone (and love it)! I am not lonely!. Unless you are incapacitated, I sincerely understand - but there's so much "out there", that you can do for interaction with other people (and maybe meet someone if that's what you want)? ! My parents always said "if you're bored or lonely, get up and go help someone"!! Volunteer, go to festivals, help a neighbor ANYTHING to get your mind off of your/our own circumstances!. Friends/mates will come and go, but the Lord is with us always🙏. Don't ever let someone else be your light🌸

May 2022 My loneliness is accompanied by the greeving of the loss of my husband 3 weeks ago . Married 43 years 4 months.i gave my life to Christ in 1976. I know God is always with me . That's how I cope and taking One day at a time!!!

I live alone and have been living alone for the past 15 years and I have never been happier. God is here with me constantly. Lo I am with you always even to the end of the age. Matthew 28:20

I’m a wife, daughter, mother and sister and still very lonely. I try reaching out to people and staying encouraged but it doesn’t always work. My husband is way in the Middle East and I feel like he doesn’t even miss me, he can adapt well to any situation and I envy that about him. Because I’m the opposite. I’m desperately looking for work which isn’t making life any better and Just seems to add more worry and stress. It’s true what people say when you need a friend there’s usually no one around. This walk isn’t easy trying to stay right and do right as a Christian person I just pray for a supernatural breakthrough, peace and happiness. I pray for everyone who may be experiencing loneliness and or depression because it is tough and hurts so bad. However I want give up. Love you all and stay strong.

I'm single and I just lost my beloved mother unexpectedly, and is been so hard. 😭💔. She lived with me in all my life, she was my mother, companion, best friend, confidant.. I've been praying to God to heal me. I don't know how I'm going to live without her. 😥

I'm 53 years old, divorced and a father of four. I'm empty, im drained. I wish I could open my heart and let Jesus in. I try, but I fail. I have so much love to give. I'm so alone and empty. I know I'm being selfish but, why doesn't God hear me. I don't want to die alone. I want peace. I'm so lost. I don't even know why I'm writing this.

Charles Stanley is my favorite preacher. I have been listening for over a decade! I know the Bible well, and I've never heard Dr. Stanley say anything but the truth.

What a wonderful preacher. This man is such a great person/ a true messenger of God. ❤

People go around speaking how lonely they are and are surprised when that's how their life is. Ask God to bring people of Him into your life and thank Him all through the day that He is bringing good people into your life. (Not unsaved people..they are more trouble than it's worth). The devil will try saying "THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN. YOU'LL ALWAYS BE ALONE". But just keep thanking God until it manifests. Anything you ask and believe for in prayer you'll receive. You'll reap if you don't faint. God bless who ever reads this with a Godly spouse and Godly people in their life.

I'm sorry there are times when God himself lays this burden on you for a time and there is nothing you can do about. If you read the Psalms David was connected to God and still suffered loneliness, Moses lived alone in the desert for FORTY YEARS and he was connected to God. Job suffered intense loneliness and God said there was no one more loyal to God on the face of the earth. God lays that on you to accomplish something in your life. It is when he accomplishes his purpose in your life he lifts this burden from you. Dr. Stanley I've listen to you for almost 20 years and think the world of you and want to thank you for the wonderful influence you have been in my life.

I struggle with loneliness and broken relationships.. it's so heartbreaking and overwhelming at 50 years old divorced remarried and widower trying to date and start over is so hard when all you want is companionship.

Sometimes in my Life when I need a friend to talk too but they are busy with their life and I feel alone. Then I keep still and a small voice comes towards me and whispered, you are not alone, I will always be with you and whatever you go through I will always be there for you. All I find is peace and I don't feel alone because I know for sure I am a child of God. When I feel lonely I talk to God in prayer. This message is just on time. Thank you and God bless🙏

Our churches do not reach out to us anymore and it's heartbreaking

I'm one of those guys who feels alone a lot, mainly just because I always have relationship problems

WOW, this video is a message from God Himself. I was just crying and praying about feeling alone, meaningless, anxious, fearful and analyzing why I want to be alone -- googling whether it's wrong for a young Christian to live this way isolated. And then this video was posted. I feel like God is the only person in my life who I can truly confide in and I need to surrender to the Holy Spirit to be delivered. I instantly felt better, and more motivated for life even after praying.

This was a good thing to hear. Keep me strong Jesus. Never let go of my hand🤝. I need you🙏

I needed this today, life with chronic illness and life by myself after divorce is very hard. I need prayer for healing and Godly friends. Thank you for touching lives Dr. Stanley. I believe the Holy Spirit anoints you in every message.

When I got saved, I had to walk away from my friends. My discerning spirit made me realize they were not good for me with my walk with Jesus. I choose my friends, they don't choose me. The walk is narrow, but, thank God, I finally have peace and I love this new life. Thank you Jesus.

Last year, I lost my youngest son to Covid, and I have been struggling with loneliness ever since. I have some good days, as well as not good days, no matter how much I pray and read the Word. I miss my son so much.

i find peace being alone than being with toxic people, i go out once in awhile and make sure i shared JESUS.

Your right being around all the people in the world I still find myself lonely. So instead of looking for human friends and connections I would choose to be around all of the beautiful precious animals that God has created. I'd open an animal sanctuary and I'd never be lonely again. ❤️ Animals are nicer than humans these days. Seems like if people can't get something from you then you are out no value.

"It is NOT good for man (human) to be alone" That particular Scripture says enough in itself. We were created not only for an intimate relationship with God, but relationships with others. If someone is lonely, that doesn't necessarily mean that something is wrong with them spiritually or emotionally! We all have innate, natural desires to love and be loved. I believe that while having a great relationship with God is pivotal, there's NOTHING wrong with desiring a romantic relationship with someone of the opposite sex just as long as that person is not a bad influence on you & will help you grow in all aspects of your life.

Thank You for this sermon Dr Stanley! Loneliness needs to be talked in church more than it does! My part is to call people and say hello can help a person's spirit I'm thinking of them and it helps my spirit also. Texting is not the same as hearing a person's voice or giving them a smile and a hug it will definitely get me out of myself and loneliness Praise God!

Stayed in church, done everything that I know to do in order to please Him, and still lonely. God and the church have made it abundantly clear that loneliness in single people is not worth considering.

I am an 82year old man, who lost his wonderful wife six years ago and since then who's children are too busy to see me. I have good friends who I see often but my loneliness comes from the disconnect with my family. They are just too busy living their lives to spend any time with me. This Sunday morning I watched two of your videos on Loneliness, the 1st one was Living In The Shadows Of Loneliness and it was very good, it covered many reasons for loneliness including children like mine. Thi 2nd video, Overcoming Loneliness, never mentioned my problem, it was all about people who cause their own loneliness. It should have been titled differently or covered all causes. I am a religious person who has totally devoted time to God, especially since my wife died, and I communicate with Him in my daily life many times a day thanking Him for the wonderful life I have had, and asking Him to help me with my problems.

I am 47 and I’ve been lonely most of life. Sometimes I think loneliness is a punishment for sin. The wisdom of this man is incredible.

Since I've come to the Truth I'm no longer lonely. I don't have a local church family right now and I told somebody that I was lonely but I guess it was a wrong choice of words I long for fellowship with other believers. Please pray with me that the Lord will lead and guide me. I really am sure now beyond a doubt that this will come to pass but I get impatient and at the same time I don't want to go just anywhere. Thank you in Jesus name amen. And thank you for this teaching. Exactly on time for me!

Poor body image issues, depression is my main cause of loneliness, as a result I isolate myself cause I’m not confident enough to interact with others...I developed social anxiety so I avoid it all.

I feel so lonely. During the months of April-June, i suffered so much dealing with attacks from the Enemy. I had so much hatred in my heart. Finally, during July I committed myself to God, He turned my life around. I finally wanted to please God! He was teaching me so much through his Word. Then school started for me and I let myself go. I feel so sad and alone, most of my friends have gone to other schools and have other stuff to do. COVID has definitely not helped, it's terrible. I get so lost in my thoughts I don't know what to do. I have become so desensitized towards everyone and God. I try to pray and read... I still feel like I am not getting anywhere. I also suffer from irreverent thoughts...it's hard.

I was recently give a huge KJV study Bible mi have read bible cover to cover before but o will try gat back to the word praise God Thanks Sir I come from a very fractured n Rough Klan I am the only believer its hard . Blessings from UK x

I'm watching this for the second time. Its a powerful sermon. In these times, its not easy with COVID going on when you can't do things like you used to. But we can put our hope in God whenever we feel like we are lonely.

Holy spirit indwell in us is our best friend.

I struggle with loneliness still to this day but I’m so grateful that Jesus hasn’t left me even though I foolishly walk away please help us Lord to stay close to you and to remember your promises and your friendship with us.

Although time alone can be a challenge when you are in a consistent personal relationship with God the Father through faith in Jesus Christ and in a relationship with Jesus you are not alone. You will never be alone again. Dr Stanley has great sermons on deepening your personal relationship with God. Its not about being perfect or sinless. Its about time. Quality time. You are loved.

Empty nest single Mom, living alone with many chronic illnesses. Been through domestic violence and other traumas and injustices. My kids are my life and my purpose and they’re grown. Loneliness is something I’ve felt my entire life even in a room full of people, Jesus saved me in December 2019 and he filled that place that was empty in me and I never feel alone with him beside me yet I still get feelings of not being good enough and isolate myself from others
