In this month's Maggie Moment, parenting author, educator, and host of the ‘Parental As Anything’ and ‘Good Enough Dad’ podcasts, Maggie Dent talks about self-compassion for parents.
Maggie says mums and dads face many challenges today to be as perfect as possible. We all want to be the best parent and raise kids who are happy, healthy and resilient, yet so often we put ourselves last.
Maggie calls this the ‘burnt chop’ syndrome - leaving the burnt chop for ourselves and looking after everyone else!
Maggie says tiny things can make a big difference and she shares her top four tips around how you can practice self-compassion as a parent, and her top tip which is absolutely key - keep good quality dark chocolate hidden in your bedroom…….yes it’s a health food!
