Self limiting beliefs around fitness beliefs have the potential to be incredibly damaging. We tend to live out our beliefs around fitness. While we don’t want unrealistic expectations, we also don’t want to fall on the other extreme. Yes there are many things we can’t control, but there is plenty we can, and it’s enough.
Stay positive.

@@Kboges that’s definitely disappointing to hear. As a physio I see a lot of patients who develop pain often without any specific injury, but then they stop all physical activity, often for months, out of fear of making things worse. A lot of the time, all I have to do is reassure them that they are safe to move/exercise and in fact that it’s necessary for their recovery and health, and the issue takes care of itself

I have been on your free "Pull Up Mastery" program since the 1st of April. After 2160 pull-ups, I finally managed to get 20 pull-ups in one set yesterday at 42 years of age-a goal I have had since 2018. The only thing I changed was on Day 1: I did 5 max-effort sets instead of the recommended 3. Thank you, man. I couldn't have done it without your program! I would still be stuck in the 15-18 rep range.

I suspect a lot of men lose interest in bulk once they get married or otherwise quit chasing girls in bars or at the beach. It's not like it really affects our careers or anything, for the great majority of us, and most of us don't run in a subculture where we have to intimidate other men regularly. So bulking quickly becomes more trouble than it's worth.

Wisdom well beyond the realm of fitness. Fantastic message, Kyle. @@mastermoo3506 Since I was a kid, I've been really into the idea of personal development; just trying to be a better version of myself. I was VERY skinny (still am 😂) but was really inspired by martial arts to improve my strength and capability. As I've gotten older, training is still about that for sure, but also much more of a spiritual practice and a daily ritual/object of focus. It's also about me doing everything I can do to better my chances of being able to spend as much time with my kids as possible. I just want to be healthy and fit into my 80's to travel with them and not be limited by health conditions. I'm just hoping for that.

Thank you for touching on this. We are all standing on the dark side of this big wall, we all know we can simply climb it, one hand after the other, and we *will* reach the other side, the promised land, regardless of how long it takes. It's just that many of us give up, hunker down in the dark, and start weaving their own narratives as to why they're not doing something that will SURELY work if they just up and do it. They watch someone new do it every day. The thing is, when you up and start doing it, it is so inexplicably difficult, for such a long time, that you almost become sure it's out of reach. But the wall is finite, you know this, so you must keep going. I love how you said people think getting fit is out of their control, that's how I felt for years, it's like looking for the split in the stage curtain with your hands trying to pass through it but you never find it, it's just a sea of curtain, and no one can teach you this shit, YOU have to keep feeling for different bodily reactions until you land the fucker that works, until it clicks and you get it. As kids we all know that loading a muscle slowly while breathing and being patient is our caveman DNA, this was always my compass, slow patient loading with breath work where you ENDURE the discomfort until you own it and start enjoying it.

20 years ago i was cut. I did a physically demanding job, ate right. Was about 80kg. Some changes happened. My job changed to a sit down for 8 hours job but my eating stayed the same. Nek minute i am 100kg. I slowed down the fork shovelling but hovered around 110kg. Some more life changes and i blink and 116kg. Whoa there buddy. Aint no way i am gonna pop 120. I need to knuckle down. Here i am 2 years later, back to 80kg, work out every day no gym just calisthenics, isometrics, shadow boxing, some emom and drop set push squats. Almost all at home. Sometimes I will head out for some sprints or bike ride, else all at home. Almost back to my strength from 20 years ago. Feel fantastic. 56 and am fitter and stronger then everyone else i work with and i am the oldest. If i can drop 40kg in a couple years at my age, i KNOW the youngerlings can do it too.

100% The first thing to understand is that there is ALWAYS a story being told. So you have to be aware that this is occurring even without your awareness. Once you have some awareness around it, you can start to make some headway into identifying and understanding your beliefs. Once you do that, you can start to stack them up against the facts.

I finished the first 6 weeks and realized that this is all I've ever wanted working out to be, simple and effective. I've been seeing amazing gains, my arms exploded just from dips and chin ups in the first 6 weeks (I've switched to pushups and pullups for the next 6 weeks). I love the 3 days of 1 barbell exercise per day, it lets me go hard and not feel burnt out the next day. Just wanted to say thanks, I'm glad you made this program and that I discovered it, it's going to be the one I stick with for the rest of my life (switching up exercises every 6 weeks).

Even if you lie to your self, your body doesnt lie in what you do and what you take in, people say sometimes it doesnt work(like trusting the prosess). as for myself, sadly im not confident enough with starting and having the right mentallity and of course waiting for the perfect conditions to occur wont help either so im stuck in between having things that help me increase my health to add it in my lifestyle. maybe its motivation maybe its something else. but when i watch you it is interesting what peoples mentallity have soo much impact on what you do. thanks for the videos

Excellent points. No one addresses this. Bruce Lee stated, “Don't speak negatively about yourself, even as a joke. Your body doesn't know the difference. Words are energy and they cast spells, that's why it's called spelling. Change the way you speak about yourself, and you can change your life.”

This applies to not only health and fitness, but every aspect of our lives. I'm struggling to eat healthy, I keep telling myself I will then I don't. Afterwards I tell to myself "What's the point anyway? My grandfather had diabetes and my mother has prediabates even though she tries so hard to live a healthy life. I'll end up diabetic anyway, so let me eat now while I can". Just realized after this video that I was telling myself negative assumptions on what will happen, and acting out in a way that would prove that assumption (or lie) correct, even though I haven't really given the positive possibility a proper try. As you said, easier said than done. At least I am beginning to see these flawed ways of thinking in myself thanks to your videos and my own introspection. I gotta eat good to live longer, I should just get that in my head. Hope I can do it. Thanks for the videos and take care.

Yeah I have more on this topic coming up… dude I’m not a fan of normalizing this at all. I think it comes at serious costs, and im not even talking and the potential physical issues. I think the psychological ramifications and the damage to the industry is crazy. I don’t care about what individuals do in terms of their own choices, but dude… what this does to kids starting out knowing that all the fitness info is from guys on steroids… man that cannot be a good thing.

Another great video again straight to the point as always but still insightful. I'm curious to know if a hamstring exercise like Nordic curl is necessary if one isn't really interested leg hypertrophy. Will different squat variations be enough for overall leg development or is there a risk of imbalances in the future?

Question: do you have your 3 exercises planned out for each day strategically/in a program? Or do you kind of just choose whatever you want for each day? If you could choose 2 movements for push, 2 movements for pull, and 2 movements for legs to cycle through weekly on a 6 day full body split, what would they be? I would really appreciate a response to this comment!! You're the man!!
