Sorry for your loss guys & TSN staff. Condolences to Dutchy’s family. A little story about James Duthie. In September of 2015 I was in a car accident and was at south lake hospital. As I was waiting to be called, I glanced up at the other ppl waiting there, and sure enough there was JD with his child I’m guessing. I gave him a double take just to make sure it was him, he looked directly at me. I just gave a nod, he nodded back and that was it lol. It was not appropriate to say anything to him while he was caring for his kid, and considering my condition too. If it was under different circumstances, I would’ve liked to say to him you’re awesome on SC, really enjoy watching u & the gang at TSN. RIP Dutchy BANG ❗️
We didn’t deserve Dutchy, such a legend, truly one of the most iconic Canadians to have lived.. I hope he knew just how many people he touched and considered him a part of their family without having ever met him in person. My condolences to all lucky enough to have him in their life 💔😔
I'm legit fucking butthurt over this news.. as an immigrant from dominican in the 90s, I learned English and canadian slang listening and reading the subtitles in Spanish... in gr 3 my parents gave me their old shitty tv (ch 1-30) and besides on sundays (ch 3, global) for the new king of hull and Simpsons, tsn sportscentre with Dutch and hedger was my lullaby going to bed and the tsn ta da na ta da na beat would wake me up in the mornings. Dudes a fucking beaut! True legend!! R.I.P DUTCH
One of the many Voices of our childhoods gone to soon. The amount of hours I used to watch and rewatch the highlights every morning before school. Definitely a tough loss
Wonderful hearing his buddies laughing and remembering him; met James Duthie once many years ago at the funeral of a young Toronto Hockey Player and he was a very classy guy: sounds like Dutch was a great person as well.
Shocked and saddened. Dutch was one of a kind and a legend. I started watching Dutchy back when he was at ITV in Edmonton. Rest in peace Dutch you're gonna be missed a lot
Dutchy knew that he was one of the luckiest guys on the planet. He got to talk sports every day . . . and some sucker PAID him for it. Every broadcast was just a guy talking sports with his pals. It's just Dutchy's pals were all across the country.
Never knew him, but I grew up the last 20 years or more watching him every night and morning on my TV. Duthie I was able to hold it together till you said “ we love you buddy”. I’m going to miss someone I never knew but wish I did . He was a beauty!!!
Best memory is when did sports talk in Edmonton. and Brian hall would come on. The look was fantastic, Basically , Brian you are an idiot....Then he would say so
I learned Dutch passed just here on this show. Have not seen him in many years. Fond memories of his game recaps; he used over the top descriptions in a way sort of like Mike Lange. And was so much fun. My condolences for the family of this great man.
