You are quite correct, the truck body is full and now all compaction takes place in the tailgate. Not good for the truck and time consuming, but beats having to drive back many miles later to pick up a few stragglers. The packer controls are mostly automatic, but to do what these guys are doing requires some manual operation and finesse. Thus only experienced operators can usually do it.
Cant tell you how many times we squeezed that last couple streets on to not have to make that 3rd trip to the land fill. Putting 13 ton on a 9 ton truck. Also the double sideing to make the route just a little shorter..haha been there done that!!
As a garbage collector I can say you definatly have to know what your doing. Get these guys a side loader and see if it is that easy I can tell you it isn't
I do 13 to 14 tons non wet bro got know how to pack your truck undo the buckles man,ha.I can get 14-18 tons in a 4 hour day switching on and off with the other man every hour!! Then when we done we get our full 8hrs and go home,its lovely Great paying job,no doubt, props if your a trash guy to!
Ive never pulled in that freezing temps,so I wont comment but we have guys here from back east and they say its a cake walk in the cold compared to our vegas HEAT..we have ems out here in vegas every summer for are green horns that try to make it.
No one should talk shit about someone doing there job. There working. Also people who do this kind of job normally make good money. I would do this job for good pay. Why not?
Not true, many garbage companies turn down the pressure in the hydraulics to save on maintenence and break downs. most waste management trucks (in dayton anyway) can only hold 2/3 capacity due to this
My question is why is it when people are taking a video of any particualr subject they seem unable to keep the object of their film in the picture but instead move to other stuff all the time. So many times in this when they go to sweep the hopper the camera view leaves the truck.
