Nice to see Camden carriage sidings with the Mk2 Pullman cars. Comparing this film of Euston with one of the modern cab ride films is very interesting ,so much has gone!

Clapperboard shows filming date of Nov 1972. By that time the 100mph electric locos (especially class 86) had given tracks a good hammering for six years, which probably explains the bumpy ride after speed had built up out of Euston - perhaps the camera was shaking so much the guy had to keep fiddling with it, hence the crazy angles! Shortly after this filming, most of the 86s got modified bogies and wheels to reduce unsprung mass on the track.

Nice old footage of the WCML but why do camera people always think looking at the rails and sleepers as something as interesting, do it once for art like the Dutch angle of the overhead equipment. but 3 look downs at the track was a waste of film yes one time the shadow had the pantograph in shot but really 2 rails and sleepers is a non shot we know trains run on rails how much of the line ahead, stations and passing trains did we miss with that rubbish angle. Berkhamsted station was the only station we visited in the film.

It looks like unedited footage of one reel forming part of a longer production and this reel happened to be mainly at Berko. Perhaps the crazy angles were the cameraman fiddling about with the kit, loco rather rough riding so not surprising.
