In this video, I share my unique approach on how to carry enough food to last for months while overlanding and camping. It is my "ultimate guide" to food for long-term overlanding and camping trips! Unlike weekend excursions, planning meals for a journey that will last for weeks or months is crucial. It's not just about packing food that is delicious, but packing foods that do not require refrigeration and that will supply the nutrition and energy you need to stay healthy. These are my top food choices that are light weight, easy to prepare, and are practically non-perishable. From actual meal replacements to dehydrated foods, I'll cover all the essentials to keep you going even when you cannot make a fire to cook over. In fact, with these foods, I've gone months without starting a fire.
Believe me... this guide features a variety of nutritious and long-lasting food options that won't let you down. Whether you're traveling in a van, RV, truck, or any other overlanding vehicle, or just camping, these food options are a great choice. So, sit back and enjoy these top picks for long-term overlanding food. By the end of this video, you'll have a better understanding of what foods to pack for your journey and how to store them to keep them fresh for weeks and months. Thanks for watching, and let's get started!

One thing I always have is NIDO, a powdered milk made from cream. My go to breakfast while backpacking is milk & cereal = 1 cup Grape Nut Flakes in freezer bag + 1/4 cup Coconut flakes + 1/4 cup dried blueberries + 1/3 cup NIDO, add water, shake, instant milk & cereal. Easy dessert is pudding = 1 packet "Sugar free" pudding mix in freezer bag + 1/3 cup NIDO + 11oz cold water, shake for about 3 minutes, pudding sets up in about 10 minutes. Always bring Bacon Pieces Packets I buy from Walmart. Also bring Instant Grits, Ramen, & Instant Mash Potatoes. Grits & Bacon = 2 packets Butter Flavored Grits in freezer bag + Bacon pieces + 1 cup boiling water. Imitation Biscuits & Gravy = 1 packet Ramen broken up in small pieces in freezer bag (don't use seasoning packet) + Bacon Pieces + 1/2 packet Pioneer Country Gravy + 1 cup boiling water. Poor Man's Pad Thai = 1 packet Chili Ramen broken up in small pieces + 1 Chicken Packet + 1 cup boiling water + 2 small packets Peanut Butter. BBQ Mash Potatoes = 1/2 package mash potatoes + 1 cup boiling water + 1 packet BBQ pulled Pork (Walmart) steam from mash potatoes heat the BBQ.

Just wanted to bump this video a tad with an item that will go great for all these bags of food. In addition to the bag clips, Amazon now has a variety of small USB rechargeable bag sealers. I take one of these with me overlanding to reseal bags that I may not get back into for a few days, or if the zip seal is not holding. Also great for resealing coffee bean bags (non paper of course).

I’m glad I came across this video! Lots of good ideas. Thank you for sharing! I have found, inexpensive binder clips found at office stores( Staples or Office Depot) to be very good for my bags!

@idaho fmegal Thanks for your kind and encouraging words! I hadn't thought about office stores... that's a great idea... I've only been looking for them at grocery stores! By the way... I'll be in Idaho later this summer. It is such a beautiful state with tons of places to explore!

@@OverLandScapes I have 3 separate camping/exploring trips planned from May-sept. It would be lovely to share our state with you. I live in the southeast corner, so I have to drive a min of 3 hours before the true majestic scenery starts. And, I haven’t explored as much as I should have. But, I’m trying to remedy that! Safe travels!

do you have a website or a list some place that we could have, or we have to do our own homework and write it down lol

@brandonhalcyon6984 No, I don't have a written list of the food that I carry on long excursions. Sorry about that! I am working on another video, however, regarding food... but that probably won't be ready for a week or so.

@Ryansgaming99. Thanks Ryan! It is great to have fans like you! 😍 Yes, people are slowly discovering my channel. It takes a lot of work to put these videos together but I'm always thrilled when someone says that the channel is helping them. Speaking of help... help your Mom to get ready for the move. I'll be passing through Utah this summer and I am looking forward to seeing you then!

Great video, would you please tell me how you like your extended range fuel tank, the long range America. Any issues or quirks to be concerned about? Thanks
@OverLandScapes
@OverLandScapes Год назад
@JD Thanks JD! I really do like the LRA tank. Obviously, I don't have to fill up as often, which cuts down on the number of stops on longer trips. When I got everything installed, my gas mileage dropped, so having a 35 gallon tank instead of a 21 gallon tank helps. I always try to fill it before heading deep into a forest or BLM... I like the peace of mind knowing that I will have enough gas to make it back out again. And, while I hope that I never have to use it, the drain plug is also a real plus (you wouldn't have to drop the tank if you accidentally filled it with diesel fuel, for instance). The only "quirks" I can think of is that you add more weight to the truck simply because you are carrying more gas... and there is more of a sticker shock at the gas pumps (again, because you are carrying more gas). :^). I'm glad that I have it... it is definitely well worth it and a great investment when it comes to overlanding in my book!

@@OverLandScapes thanks so much for your response! I am considering it. I didn’t know it was a replacement for the stock gas tank vs adding onto it. Thanks so much again. I love your channel and you inspire me to want to get out and explore more.
