SOS is one of my all time favorites and there are 3 restaurants within 20 miles that serve it. Another favorite is Chorizo sausage and gravy thanks to Sarah's recipe but I thicken it with shredded cheese. I make it often.

My father was only six years old when your grandfather served in the Korean War, and his selflessness played a vital role in creating the South Korea we know today. I am grateful for his service and inspired by his and other Marines and US Solders example, which led me to follow in their footsteps by joining the Marine Corps and served Iraq. My hope is that one day the children of Iraq will experience the same freedom that I am fortunate to enjoy today here in AMAZING USA!!. Thank you for your grandfather's service and sacrifice.

That's really cool that you can ride out to old Pony Express stations. Have you ever tried retracing parts of the Oregon Trail? That's something that I've always wanted to try to do if I were to get out west for an extended period of time.

OM NOM NOM Dried Beef Gravy, on anything, but especially on toasted Home Made bread is among the best meals.

If I may make a humble health suggestion. Heat + anything plastic or silicone etc will leach BPAs and or other things into your food and drink. Even if it's "BPA free" it still, according to 3rd party testing, shown to leach into ones food or drink. I absolutely love the coffee setup, but my OCD kind of kicked in and I had to pass that along for what it's worth. Obviously you should do your own research, but I couldn't in good conscience not say something. Also no criticism to the video, it's fantastic and the views are amazing. Love the content!

As always, I enjoyed this video. If I were there I'd be going to climb that sharkstooth looking peak. Winter is the time to climb desert peaks. I appreciate you mentioning your mom and pa paw. My dad is a Korean War veteran as well. He is still kicking at 93. We owe our freedoms to this greatest generation. Sorry to hear about your MSR. Kinda surprised. I have a Pocket Rocket and love it but is is more of a backpacking stove rather than for overlanding.

I'm sure your grandfather would truly connect with your SOS breakfast given the cold environment you had it in and how it would have related to a cold winter morn in Korea. My dad too served in the Korean war from August 1950 - '51. My hat is off to them for their service to our country.

My father, also in the Marines during the Chosin Reservoir hellish battles in Korea 1951 introduced my brothers and I to SOS. While it is tasty for me its definitely the memories that make it so special!

My grandmother said when my grandfather returned from world war brought the recipe she would soak the corned beef hour or two to bring the salt content down .if you want to jazz it up crumble blue cheese on it.

I felt very nostalgic watching you make SOS as my grandad use to make it for me when I was a kid. Almost teared up a bit on the Korean War part. My grandad was also part of that. I recent got some pics of his ship going through the Panama Canal heading over there.

Thats the exact coffee grinder I use. Have had it for years and it's still working like new!

I used to have a very nice 2019 Tacoma TRD Pro in Voodoo Blue that I wanted to make into an Overland Adventure truck. My income drastically dropped, and I had to get an old Ram 1500 to get out from under payments. I so want to get another Toyota & hopefully a Tundra. One of my factors in liking Toyota products is how dog gone reliable your 4Runner has been! It's definitely proven itself!

My Mom made chipped beef with gravy. I haven't thought of that for years. It was so good. I even remember the little glass jar it came in with a blue lid. I loved your story of the pony express and the thought of them running their horses through the land where you were standing and traveling.You are a wonderful story teller. Thank you.

I ate it many times for midnight meal at the chow hall on base in the UK. Fills u up and kept u warm for the flightline.

Makes me a bit homesick. I live in Central UT but I am out in CA for a work contract. The sandy desert here is nice, but I find myself wanting a bit of snow too.
