Likewise! I get to see them live at 121 Festival in NZ in a few weeks too. Been waiting to see them play since Hackney Parrot which is like 10 years! So hyped.
@@seandelfin you do you bro. :) I myself call something like The Weeknd mainstream and formulaic myself. If your talking only within the bounds of dance music maybe someone like Swedish House Mafia fits that bill. Overmono were pretty innovative and different at the start, not many were mixing the bass music / breakbeat / hardcore continuum scene with techno like they were, now it’s pretty common. Also the way they are pushing into pop sounds and samples is definitely an evolution away from the hyper-masculine tropes of that scene.
The way the song just releases around 3:27 is just a fucking masterstroke. It takes the track from a soaring banger to a gentle, melancholic lullaby. Such a gorgeous track. Cannot express how excited I am for the album.
Very underwhelming compared to Is U. I never feel like they blow the load and drop the melody full out and that's especially true with this one....waiting waiting then finally a hook at the end and it's over. Frustrating.
Understandable perspective but, if they followed that structure for every song they would be considered a one-trick pony. Their arrangement style is what adds to their uniqueness and what essentially is the hook to their tracks, it may not be for everyone but it definitely is quality.
