A short, local overnighter is a powerful thing indeed. Refreshing and rejuvenating

Great idea, I need to take heed and do the push off for a quick break more often. The happiness on your face is really good to see and why wouldn't you be exhilarated in countryside so spectacular! Wonderful video.

An overnight trip like that that requires minimal planning is a great mind cleanser.

Hey Kane! Totally agree with you. I'm a big fan of pushing myself and doing big trips, but I also love to get out even just for a quick overnighter. Micro adventures can be so rewarding, and they are a great way to test out some gear and dial in your systems. Loved the video mate! Cheers, Zeb.

Great wee video, thank you. Likewise, and inspired by your chat, I'm off up the Ochil Hills, near Stirling, in Scotland. Only c. 700 metres, but away from people etc. for the night, and views across the Forth Valley. Thanks again, Nigel

Hey this was really cool! This is something I need to do here locally. Maybe a version of camping with Steve… if you will… I was curious what kind of little burner that was in your caldera cone? Great to see you again and tske care. NQU

Hi, an 'inspired subscriber' here, found your previous video on not using an inner very helpful. Any specific reason why using the inner for this trip?
@KaneDoesOutdoors
@KaneDoesOutdoors 5 месяцев назад
Hi - yes, a few reasons. I go without the inner in winter when conditions are quite predictable. It's cold, dry, and frozen. This was a spring trip and I was not expecting to camp on snow. I was more likely to be camping wet/damp ground since there was some rain in the forecast. I did camp on snow but it was really just a thin layer with a high moisture content. Nice to be in a fully enclosed shelter because anything that touches that kind of snow gets soaked (eg sleeping bag). Also an area with a LOT of herbivores. The ticks are already out and it seems like a pretty bad year so far. We didn't have a solid 2-3 week deep freeze below -30C that helps kill them off. The x-mid with the solid inner is as close to an ideal system for shoulder season trips when you have no idea what the conditions will be like - potential for a mixed bag of precipitation, temps right at the dew point, muddy ground etc.

@@KaneDoesOutdoors Thanks Kane, good points, and terribly relevant for us European hikers, our winters tend to often be as in your video 'You will get wet you will get cold', jadrk :-) So, in short, you owe Dan (another?) beer, I just did one more credit-card hike on his website and bought the solid inner for my X-Mid. Good of Dan to sell these inners separately for existing X-Mid owners!

Don't you worry about bears waking up . This time of the year? Or you not in Canada?

The bears are out, but what are you going to do, stay home all summer?
@IvanGorbenko
@IvanGorbenko 5 месяцев назад
@@KaneDoesOutdoors not summer. But leaving in bear country you should know that may is one of the most dangerous months as bears wake up after hibernation and more chances to attach people.
