I'm so sorry she had to endure that. Mental Health is one thing we slacked on for way too long. At first, because no one understood it, but when they started to blame it on junk science, like the Eugenics movement or Demonic Possession (which actually makes more sense than the former) those suffering from it didn't stand a chance. My great aunt was in Eloise hospital, in Westland MI a few times in the 60's and though she was never formally diagnosed, I think she probably suffered from BP as well. Luckily her sister was a nurse, and knew EXACTLY how deplorable the conditions were, and refused to keep her in there. She took her home and cared for her the best she could, until she passed in 85. I barely remember her, but on her good days, she was apparently hilarious. She used watch the Mickey Mouse Club RELIGIOUSLY, with her Mouse Ear hat on, and that's my only memory of her, is sitting in her lap while she watched and sang along. Thank God, she was spared the same fate, and God Keep your Grandmother.🌹🙏

That sucks. My sister in law developed bipolar due to her alcoholism and then she started smoking weed which has caused her go think shes a goddess. She goes up to cars screaming at them f you and flipping them off, trying to fight everyone on the street. Were trying to get her help but shes refusing help, were scared shes gonna be a crack head on the corner. But then i see stuff like this and it freaks me out and makes me think like what is worse? A druggie or having her at these facilities killing her slowly.

I haven't made that one yet. I've been to the ORIGINAL Eloise in Westland Mich. Topeka State in Kansas. Pennhurst Asylum in Pa. And finally Waverley Hills. But T.A is the top of my list.

We got to investigate it in 2020, November. It was an amazing place.

Both men were charged with murder, but sadly they both had already been found incompetent to stand trial, and so both men ended up right back where they started inside the same hospital. I'm not sure if I had uncovered this information at that time yet or not, but I looked into it because I as well as others had wondered why nobody tried to stop Dave & Jim. As it turns out Dean's roommate from his previous room was moved into this seclusion room with him. The friend tried desperately to stop Dave and Jim, but he failed and it nearly cost him his life. The men were officially charged with murder and "malicious wounding". I did some digging and was able to locate Dean's friend. Out of respect for his privacy I won't discuss what he said, other than to say he was very clear in stati g that Dean was in fact a kind and gentle man. In the days that followed many staff members at the hospital voluntarily quit as a result of this murder. For many of them this was the "last straw". A few years later, Dean was involved in what was touted as a murder at the opposite end of the hall in the same ward. However, research indicates the victim in that case died later that day as a result of cardiac arrest. In my opinion based on the facts it is possible the stress of the beating could have caused the heart attack. Dave was moved to Sharpe Hospital when Weston closed, and lived the rest of his life there. It has been saod by staff that knew him there that he changed for the better once he was put on proper meds. At Sharpe there is no indication that he ever attacked anyone, nor did he commit anymore murders. One thing the staff there all agreed on was that "You could tell there was something off and not right about Dave". For me, the most disgusting and disturbing thing of all was a comment left on Dave's online obituary. "I knew Dave, he was a good guy, I miss him". The story of Dean was always the hardest one to tell because it was simply tragic. I don't like to think of it as a story, but more as a testament to what went wrong, as well as a memorial to Dean. That's not word for word what I said in the video, but that's the actual story. That room echos something awful but we were lucky that day because the siren didn't go off!
