Hey loves , so this was a completely unplanned, extremely last minute trip that miraculously turned into an adventure packed overnighter! In this video I’ll share a raw and candid Maun to Gweta overnight itinerary!
1. Leave Maun at around 7am after a good and filling breakfast, also make sure you pack snacks.
2. Just 45km before Planet Baobab, before Gweta Village (if you’re coming from Maun) , take a left into the Nxai Pan National park at the main gate and navigate to Baines Baobab. Also known as the “sleeping sisters”, Baines Baobab is a historical landmark named after a British explorer and painter Thomas Baines. You’ll also get to enjoy the beautiful Khudumane pan over your packed snacks/drinks.
3. Proceed to Planet Baobab for check-in and lunch
4. On a good day, the Planet Baobab bar area is a great place to socialise and meet tourists from different parts of the world. Be sure to go to bed early in preparation for an early morning coming up.
5. The next day go on the meer cat and ntwetwe pan expedition. It’s P350 pp for the activity including breakfast in the wild. An extra *P300 or so to book the quads (I need to confirm prices). Dress warm during the winter months as you will be travelling in an open safari vehicle. Departure time is 0600hrs sharp and you should be back in camp around 1300hrs.
6. Have lunch at Planet Baobab if you’d like, before driving back to Maun!
And that’s how I planned a trip on the move to the pans!!
