I always love that even mid and low tier characters in Tekken 5 usually have at least one move or setup that they can use to BS you to death. I'm pretty sure i can remember Roger Jr doing a techtrap a lot with launch -> 1+2,3+4 -> u/f+3+4 that would completely ruin your day if you walked into it. Plus the AGF damage as a wall ender was just comical in T5
i remember roger jr could use their unblockable for a tech roll catch in t5. though not sure how effective that really was cause i only played bots lol
Please continue to do this type of videos. Personally people piss me off when they say: Tekken 5 and Tekken 5Dr were the most balanced tekken! This is a beautiful content for showing old balancing systems and old character moves! Oh and don't forget Roger: -F n 1 on block and near a wall. -CD1 at the wall -db3 launches (db3 f4,3,2 or you can go for oki with df1+2 after some hits, i don't remember very well) -u3,3 helicopter wallcombo after f1,2,1 ch (F1,2,1 u3,3 bb u3,3 1,2 df1+2 or something like that. If im not mistaken you can do cd1 after u3,3 resplat) -throw game very similar to king's. This is disgusting if you think to the old throw break frame windows -df2 ch launches -df4 starts very fast and for a mid that hit very low and tracks a bit is perfect -king's wavedash (yes they can do it even in tekken 7. Imagine a kangaroo wavedashing at you and doing a tombstone) -King's df1,2 (a bit better maybe) -king's 1,21 and 2,1 -(maybe even for roger) in 2,1 string if the last punch hits ch 2,1 is guaranteed (kings still has this in tekken 7, even for 1,2,1) Roger can buffer his grabs after 1 . 1,2 . 1,2,1 . 2.1 etc like king Lee: Hitman 4 launches with dickjab into ws3,3 -his jab start at 8 -safe df2 -old shredder kicks -old uf3+4 and hitman uf3 animations check also his hopknee when you want if i remember well is i14 an intro does f3:3:3 of TTT2 Violet
Gotta love Julia's 1,2,1 where it's an 8f CH launcher, the 2nd hit is only -10, there's other string extensions if you want to threaten a punish attempt and the last hit actually will never come out unless it will connect so even though it should be mad unsafe if you can't CH confirm it, it'll be at worst -10
tekken 5 is goated i swear i remember all this scumbag stuff happening in the arcade and i was like aslong as i have a wall i'm godlike cause i was playing raven lol. also should bring up the tech window in t5 made it so teching after hitting the ground just wasn't a smart move in general raven could do after qct 3+4 (which only existed as that command in 5 and 5.1 but super nerfed....) d/b4, b3 and if you teched you got hit by the b3 and your char was on one knee to where f4 was free and you did half life this game made you aware of all chars.... i played anna too and she was considered bad but the moves she shared with nina were still just as good and her wall damage was also lol
7:44 OH BOY THE OLD TIMES. this was the most satisfying wall combo for me. Hard as fuck to get it reliably. I miss when combos were really situational... in tekken 7 everything is optimal already: the best carry always finds the wall. It wasnt like this before
Well waddya know,it’s dominated by mishimas,the most broken characters in the series that have always been programmed that way. There is no such thing as nerfing a Mishima. I don’t respect Mishima users.
i never understood the tier lists on this game... each character has stun strings that leads to a tons of damage. Even jin has a couple of ones and they put him on low tier...
Jin doesn't have stuff like this. Neither do Bruce, King, Asuka or Jack-5, for that matter. All of these characters feel castrated when compared to the characters appearing in this video.
This was the game for me that showed how behind Tekken had fallen graphically and gameplay wise to its competitors. Dead or Alive 2 Ultimate, Dead or Alive 3.2(UK version), Virtua Fighter 4 & Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution are all better games than Tekken 5. Tekken’s historical prominence had long faded, 3 being a long distant memory.
Yeah the trick is that 1,2,1 can't cancel into Albatross by itself but it can cancel into Flicker by holding back. Flicker can then cancel into Albatross with 1+2 so fast that you don't even see Flicker come out
