if you're into this farm and you want to buff it up even more, here's a future episode of the minecraft guide where we upgrade the witch farm!! 💫 🔗ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0S1QsRODquc.htmlsi=a8oYtXFnXr4jBbPl
If I could make a suggestion about placing the string. If you go in a line from one tripwire hook to the other it will then trigger that tripwire letting you know you've placed all string from one to the other. Then you just repeat the process. That way as long as you watch each one trigger you'll know you didn't miss any. Edit: Another suggestion would be to place the roof on the top floor before placing that string otherwise you can place string stacked vertically by accident.
I built a witch farm a long time ago on a private, shared server. I turned it into an observatory with a big telescope. Instead of building a tower to the sky, I lit up the caves underneath, and the area of the swamp I was in was mostly water, so I turned the lens of the telescope into a bedroom \ afk spot. Was pretty awesome! Hope to see a neat design built around your witch farm!
@@midight_wolf64 :) Go for it. The build was shown very briefly on in my channel in episode 107 of my first Guide series was an April Fools joke episode for a different game called Vintage Story. I don't recall if I ever went inside it but it was at least on-screen briefly.
I have not seen one made yet so it’s cool to see and see why they would be cool to build. That tinted glass looks so awesome! Nice to some some different farms in this world. I like the variety.
4:14 Amethyst growth is based on random tick, so even if it is in spawn chunks, it won't grow unless you're nearby. (or using mods on the more "cheaty" end of the spectrum). Learned that the hard way after setting up a fancy amethyst farm in my world
To go with your tinted glass wall, you could add redstone lights around the outside of each platform to indicate a witch has spawned and is being pushed on that platform. Love the contet Wattles! Keep it up, you make Minecraft a little more exciting with your awesome videos.
Wattles said Season 3 and all I heard was Cathedral. It's my all time favourite build to this day, that and the crafting tree. Thank you Wattles, amazing farm.
To get potions from the farm, also consider changing the killing chamber with this setup: to have a 2 by 2 by 2 container of water for water breathing, magma blocks as the floor for fire resistance, a snow golem in the distance (with water stopping the witch from hurting it and the bottom blocked off so it can’t escape) for speed, and a trident killer for healing and to make the potions actually drop. A minecart with hopper below should collect all the loot.
that tinted glass really set the farm off. I was blown away about the entity cramming then BOOM Entity Glass put the beautiful glint on it. It was like a top hat on top of the witch hat of this farm. Love the vids.
You know you watch a lot of wattles when he says you know who it is but doesn’t say treechopples and your mind fills in the blank automatically Oof nice play Wattles!
I have been asking you to do this for a while so thank you for finally doing it. Have you considered doing a water elevator to get up to the AFK Platform? Would probably be quicker then the scaffolding. Also as a bonus build move the Nether Portal to the AFK Platform (I presume based on what you said that that was the plan)
A quick tip for a little more efficiency; If you offset the AFK platform so it isn't directly above the farm then it will go a bit faster on spawns too. Generally the killing side I find best to reduce despawns.
I know witch farms can be an amazing source of gunpowder. But you'll still build a creeper farm at main base right? I'd love to see a snow golem powered one just go get a better understanding of how to make them work
You can get gun powder from ghast farms too ! I don't like creeper farms cuz mine exploded a few times and they aren't normally any more efficient than a ghast farm
I have an idea, wattles instead of building your interior to your house, you could do something cool and DEFINITELY more useful. You should build a little stable for your camels.
You are correct. Bedrock has 1 spawn point. On bedrock, it's one of the best gunpowder farms (for rockets) and can be made in less than an hour with a trident killer. Waterlogging the killer with magma blocks at the base will force all 4 potions as relatively common drops.
Great episode. I may have to try it sometime. I guess a potential bonus build would be an amethyst farm. You might also want to put a roof on your AFK spot unless you want to have some fun with phantoms.
Please wattles before I rip my hair out build an auto bone meal machine... Chest>hopper>composter>hopper>chest. Make use of all the cherry petals 😭 instead of using seeds manually
if you're *that* upset about not having tinted glass, couldn't you find a geode in the spawn chunks using chunkbase? earlier in the series you said something about chunkbase being allowed to locate more of things you've already found without it
It’s a great farm, but 30 minutes of waffle is hard to skip through. I wanted to understand the stacked mine cart thing but it’s just too much talking, sorry
Correct. Bedrock has only one spawn block. I belive its inside the hut on the opposite corner from where the water cauldron is, so just to the right of the door. Entity cramming doesn't work in Bedrock either so you'd have to set up a different kill chamber. There's some good Bedrock specific witch farm tutorials you could look at.
You can force the witches to use different types of potions based on the damage they're taking in your chamber.. Pretty sure they have water breathing fire resistance speed boost and Health if you hurt them in the right ways before they die.
when trying to place blocks on scaffolding, stand inside the block you want to place the block next to then aim at the legs of the scaffolding and it will place the block behind you
Personally I like to use soul camp fires, or even regular if too early, for passive farms. Also don't forget you can always just set up a water troth to land in to get down fast, and maybe an elevator to get you by until you can fly again. Always remember to fundamentals. Funny thinking of things like elevators as fundamentals, but Minecraft I guess.
will this work for bedrock as well? I know not the chamber there is no entity cramming mechanic in bedrock but if I put a fireplace on a hopper it should work correct?
I think it may be Optifine's "connected glass" option that does this. Or you can probably find a resourcepack that forces them to connect but still look good.
You might want to put a roof for your AFK sessions as you really don't want to come back to your game to see the "Wattles was killed by lightning and wraiths........ a LOT!" I know that it wouldn't read quite like that due to the way mincraft death screens work, but a counter on the screen to say how many times you've been killed and what killed you would be really cool 😂
Question how does this change on bedrock? Thats the one on mobile right? I want to attempt this one day but im not sure what the difference is. Any advice please help 😅 given i normally dont live long in the game but regardless 😅
I'm on bedrock so entity cramming is not a thing.... but a few questions for how to work around it.... 1. instead of using 24 minecarts can't I just set up a slab window at the witches feet and use a looting 3 sword on her manually to achieve the same results? 2. In order to do this as an afk farm, can I just set up a lava cube to auto kill the witches for me?
You would still want to set up a platform in the sky to AFK from as it will reduce the spawns under your farm and increase the rates of the farm. I would drop them down into a trident killer.
Just what I was thinking, why would I want to build a witch farm after all, I hide from the bad guys, unless my son is there to protect me. Lol but I am game.
my swamp hut spawned with half of it in a plains biome. I leveled out and lit up the area around it (not too much maybe like 15 blocks in each direction) and built up 110 blocks from the top of the farm and im not getting any witch spawns. Does the entire hut need to be in a swamp biome to be able to spawn witches?
Did my eyes deceive me, is Wattles using a bed that is not red. I just saw it was he is beginning to build the farm and paused the video to comment! It is like an Earth shattering, mind warping, reality ending event! LOL
Why not move the witches to a tower, drop them at your afk platform with one hit left on them? Like you do at your other spawning farms? This way there is less noise and it is also an xp farm? If you build your platform so far up it would be costly. But you could make it outta tinted glass, since tinting it does magnify how much you have. And/ or you could go caving and light up areas. Do enough of that and you could move the witches so you are far enough away for them to spawn. Plus when caving you generally find and pick up plenty of other worthwhile stuff.
