I hate to say this but Natasha Denona eyeshadow I know I’m sorry! I am allergic to the the Natasha shimmers and for me personally I found the recent big Huda palettes to have much better wet looking shimmer, so even if I weren’t majorly allergic to Natasha’s shadows they just don’t give me the punch that I want from a shimmer.

This is probably an unpopular opinion, but I think the VIB sale is overrated. Rewarding customers according to how much they spend has always hit me strange and then the best discount is only 20% if you have spent the required hundreds. There are much deeper discounts all over, both in store & online, that don't have prerequisites.

Yes! I think they need to revamp the VIB sale. It would be nice to see a bigger discount, even if they were to just do it once a year. It seems like most brands do friends & family sales around the same time of the year for 30% off.

haha, exactly my thoughts!😁🙃 if ¨clean¨ means not having or almost no preservatives and ingredients that avoid the products from getting mold (for example) and other undesired effects or expiring much much sooner, well, there´s that. I get the intention but actually see them as more harmful because it is hard to avoid that people end up using products that are not in good condition anymore which happens much earlier in those. And more seeing how much longer we all tend to use products after the supposed expiration or best before date.

I think that is a good thing, however, if you link a dupe it should be a dupe. If an item is talc free, for example, your dupe that is less expensive can’t have talc. It isn’t a dupe at that point.

I think the Better Than Sex mascara deserves the hype. It was great when it came out and it’s still great. People only forget about products that are mediocre or that get discontinued and something even better replaces it.

Chantecaille products. Their marketing hype is that they donate a (small) percentage of the sale to various animal charities. Sounds great ... right? Well no, not really. Their products are massively overpriced to take into account the charity donation. The customer is actually paying for the "charitable" themselves - not Chantecaille! No profits are effected negatively AND the charity donations are tax deductible. Absolute winners every time. Great vid 👍👍👍 Love ya 💜💗💜💗💜

Most overhyped are all the brands with $60+ shadow palettes-Natasha Denona, Pat McGrath, Tom Ford, Hourglass.. I’ve been a sucker on some in the past but I’ve learned my lesson. Yes, everything at Sephora is expensive but I avoid the excessively extortionate brands on principle. Makeup just doesn’t need to cost that much. For $100 palette it should clean my house and give me a facial.

Totally agree about the Better than Sex Mascara. I find the brush to be too big and it doesn’t build well for me. The inexpensive Essence Lash Princess (Green) builds so much better and it’s super affordable.

So funny, the smell is the ONLY thing I like about them. They do nothing special for my lips.Give me Maybelline Lifter glosses or Milani’s original plumping gloss over Fenty any day!!!! Their scents are super light and undetectable once on the lips, imho ❤

That’s so interesting! I have normal to dry skin and lobe the Kosas cloud set. It smoothed out my skin and doesn’t take away the glow from my foundation. I love that you have such a different experience. It’s a good reminder not all product works for all skin types!

I agree with most but that huda beauty rose quartz one is one of the best palettes I own! The shimmers are amazing and the mattes are great too every time I do my makeup with this palette I always love the way it turns out! I just picked up the empowered palette and it’s beautiful as well. I just love hudas formula! ✨✨✨💕💕💕

For Mascara it's always been Benefit as the number 1 brand for me, I don't get what is so good about the Too Faced one either. I mostly just get drug store mascaras though, as they are equally as good.

Some products you can really tell the difference in formula between a $10 product and a $30 one, and some you can't. Mascara is one of the ones you pretty much can't 🤷‍♀️ IMO the only reason to buy a mascara at Sephora is if you're a stickler for clean products, because clean drugstore mascaras have yet to catch up.

See my thoughts on the Kosas powder switch a lot depending on what foundation I have on underneath. I love it on a more matte foundation but on dewy foundations it’s awful on me. Nothing beats the charlotte tilbury powder or the pat mcgrath setting powder for me. I disagree with the too faced mascara though - I love it!! Like I alternate that with drugstore ones because pricy but it is so good and I continually go back to it because I find the tube lasts it’s full few months with the formula drying out too much. Still love it.

That product always intimated me, but I decided to finally pick it up during the Ulta 50% sale this fall. I am so glad I did! I have red hair which makes it extremely hard to find the perfect shade. So far I love the caramel dip brow!

I agree that the Kosas powder is just “ok” (and the lid broke off mine 😢). I returned the hyped Kosas foundation because it made me look so dry and old. One other product that is super-hyped that I was excited to try is the Charlotte Tilbury pinkgasm wand. I like a glowy blush but that one is super metallic and weird looking on me.

I bought the hard to get Patrick Ta blush palette last year. Although the nude shades were beautiful the pinks and oranges were soooo hot I returned before I even swatched it. I bought a couple duos in shades I like much better

I don't own the Rose quartz palette, but what you described about it, I have with the Stone Cold Fox palette from Colourpop. I love how the palette looks, I'm very drawn to the shades, but somehow I'm never quite happy with the endresult. I can't really explain why.

I have a bottle of the Tatcha liquid silk primer which I think is good. One of the things I do Like about it is that it is a liquid and it’s easy to apply versus a Putty. Last year I bought a gift set that includes a full size bottle of the liquid silk canvas plus a couple of other items from Tatcha. The biggest grapes about this product I have are the price and the pump. It’s an expensive product and the pump gets stuck and then squirts violently when it does come out. C’mon, Tatcha. If we’re paying $54 for a product that’s going to last maybe three months if used daily can we please get a better component.

I bought the Kosas powder because I'm trying to buy talc free products. I did expect it to blow me away, but I like my Elf Halo Glow powder just as much! So I agree with you as to the quality! I also have mature, dry skin... and the Elf luminous putty primer works really well for me.❤

I love love love the kosas cloud set. Its bakes and so finally milled and pressed not to lose and not too hard. Kosas cloud set is one of the best compact pressed powders to set under the eyes 💯👌👍🔥

I've heard the "expires quickly" thing with many tower 28 products, a lot more than with kosas. Things expire in between 6 months to a year, which is ridiculous. Even if that was someone's only blush/bronzer/lip gloss/powder, 6 months is barely enought time to hit pan on it, let alone use it up. I don't see why those brands get so much hype, the products don't seem all that special and will be unusable way before you could get your money's worth

Charlotte Tilbury, the brand. SO overhyped! A couple years ago, I was shocked to walk into Sephora and find YSL and Dior moved over to the sides and a huge CT display had taken the space. Come on. Really going to move Dior to the back of the class and put CT up front? Um, no.

I feel Glam Glow products are very overrated. I fell for the hype and purchased a few of their VERY expensive masks when they were all the rage a few years ago. I quickly realized that $7 drugstore masks gave me the same results. I think most people realized they were way overpriced and underwhelming. Then Glam Glow came out with an eyeshadow palette from out of nowhere. At this point they were just trying to make $$$.

The Kosas powder compact broke on me within a few months. It's got a 2 year shelf life, so the compact should be able to live that long. And I agree, I think it makes me look a little dry. Not in love with their concealer either, won't rebuy either though I'll say both are lasting their supposed shelf life so far.

For me it's the Maybelline Sky High I think if you don't have eyelashes it works but if you already have good or decent eyelashes. I really need to get mascara recommendations from people that already have eyelashes that already curl up. I have a hard time with false eyelashes because my eyelashes already are lifted and get in the way.

Kosas was the first powder I ever loved because I have hella dry skin. However, it's so high maintenance. It gets hard pan and expires so quickly. I def prefer the No7 Lift & Luminate powder now. Also, no person with oily skin has ever given the Kosas powder a good review. It's def for dry skin. The Beauty Bakery powder may be lightweight, but it's still very drying. I do think Kosas is the most overrated brand. I've tried the powder, concealer and gloss, and skin tint. They were all underwhelming to me.

Overhyped: The CT original PillowTalk lipstick looks so bad with my light skin tone. The “hype” was that it is supposedly a universal shade that would make me look like a goddess, haha. I probably tried the lipstick 10 times expecting it would magically look great since everybody else seemed to love it. But nope. Finally decluttered and sighed deeply over yet another waste of my hard earned $.

Huda beautys rose quartz also has a lot of dud shades. Especially in the shimmery shades. The pink shimmer in the top right corner, the mixed shade in the bottom right corner, the darker purple shimmer...and more. I dont reach for mine as often as i would like. My favorite huda pallettes are: new nude, mercury retrograde, light nude obsessions.

The Better than Sex mascara was a complete and utter fail for me in every way - it made my lashes clumpy, gave me panda eyes because of its extreme smudging AND it stung my eyes. So I very much agree with you: that product is so overhyped.

I think most high end makeup is overhyped (and overpriced for that matter) I buy a lot of drugstore and Indy brands makeup and skin care. I’ve bought way too many products that were supposedly amazing only to find out it’s nothing special. “You get what you pay for” is not the case with makeup products. I still use the Brow Wiz. I've tried like every other micro type brow pencil, and they just don't perform the same. At least in my opinion! And I'm a sucker for Hourglass. I love every single one of their products I've tried. The new foundation is great and I can't do my makeup without using ond of their powders to finish everything off lol but everything else I pretty much agree with. Especially the Rose Quartz palette! I bought it and ended up returning it lol

I know you love them, but for the most part Natasha Denona is literally the most boring, basic brand at Sephora. I just don't think most of of what she does is interesting and to see people lose their minds over a basic collection is odd. Her Palettes are all various shades of browns and pinks. The Pastel Palette was an oddity in a sea of overpriced boringness. People can say ColourPop duplicates themselves, but at least they release enough that duplication makes sense. ND all looks the same every time and is a no from me. I don't get the hype.

Thank you so much for calling out the seriously overhyped Rose Quartz palette! It looked more vibrant in the photos online, but was such a disappointment in person. I seriously regret this purchase, even if it was 20% off in the VIB sale. Save your money!

I hate the CT contour wand. It blends away no matter if I use a brush, sponge or my fingers. I just don’t get the hype with that one. Now I don’t like the tatcha balm but I love the liquid silk canvas primer.

Kosas Powder and Bronzer are not for me that well either. The powder isn’t “airy” or “cloudy” at all. It actually feels pretty heavy on my skin. The Bronzer’s color doesn’t pay off that much, and it pull too warm for me.

The Too Faced mascara smudged like CRAZY on me, not for watery eyes! CoverGirl Exhibtionist mascara is very similar and great for watery eyes! Soooo much better

I think some of the most overrated products are cream/liquid blushes, sorry!! But they (not all but a lot) literally disappear within an hour and I have dry skin. The staying power of the liquid/cream blushes suck. Also, something that is overrated is that low coverage and sheer products prices are the same as the really pigmented stuff. Like the laura mercier tinted moisturizer, like why on earth is that $50?!

I agree with every product with only two exceptions the Tatcha primer even though I prefer the liquid one. I do have mature dry skin. Also the Huda Beauty but I understand why because it’s not my favorite Huda Beauty palette

YES to the BTS mascara!! I also find that PMG as a band is way overrated! I got the foundation from Influenster and it’s super thin. Definitely not worth $67! I’ve also searched her palettes in store and I was not impressed 😅

The Rose Quartz palette is pretty. I would say that you can find the special shades in singles, especially from indie brands. I made a look this week from my singles dupes, and it was pretty.

The TF mascara smudges on me in 5 seconds so I don't get the hype either. Also as much as I love the Fenty glosses, the smell/taste isn't my fave and makes me reach for others over those 😞 I also agree with you on the Haus highlighters! I expected them to be super intense and shiny like the Jaclyn highlighters, but for me they're a total glitterfest. Sure I could use it on the eye but I'm not paying $50 CAD for a giant single shadow.

I’m a little wary of buying anything from Kosas coz I’ve heard that their products go bad pretty easily from being a “clean” brand. Rare beauty is something I wanna explore more as the products I’ve tried so far have been great like their melting blush and mascara. The price point is amazing especially for a celebrity brand in Sephora.

As far as what I think is overrated at Sephora I would have to say almost everything from Charlotte Tilbury. I say almost because there are several products I haven’t tried myself. It just seems like there’s not much product for the money being spent.

I felt the kosas baked powder and bronzer only lasted like 4 months maybe. i felt like i just purchased it and it just smelled funky after a few months. Was so sad cause i was excited about it
