Nice video. Makes me miss my M38A1. The manual throttle on mine worked a bit different. It did not have the guard yours does, and it could pull out a lot farther. It was flat on one side and notched on the other. You had to twist and pull. And yes, I used it as a poor man's cruise control once in a while. For two spring/summer/falls I used the M38A1 as a daily driver.
Nice, I too own one, its a 1954 M38a1, we are trying to get it running properly and stuff like that. I like the 24v system in them, I like cars orginal. We need a new carb, fuel pump, and new floor board repairs.
The wipers do not operate off the vacuum from the engine. The fuel pump has a vacuum pump piggybacked in the same housing. But The fuel pump was probably replaced at one time with a cheaper one, with no vacuum pump
They also replaced the distributor with a civilian one to use the cheaper non- shielded plugs and wires. Thank God you can still buy correct replacement parts on the internet
