I, like you, like to have an odd ball rig. My current Jeep is a ‘96 Grand Cherokee on 1 tons and lots of other goodies. It’s a great all around rig but I really want a frame again and I don’t want to necessarily go back to a wrangler. I started looking for other body on frame options with a factory V8, 4 doors, factory longer wheel base, etc, which brought me to an H3. I think it would be an awesome project, (even though my family would likely further disown me from the Jeep club. Haha.). How much does yours weigh? That’s my main concern because I already feel like my Jeep is too heavy.
Hey, mine weighs about 6500 lbs. I had it weighed on a cat scale but since changed some things so that’s why I say about. Any other V8 framed SUV starts about the same weight as mine. Stock is 4,700 lbs. V8 4 runner is 4,500 lbs. FJ80 is a 6cyl but 4,700 lbs. Have you weighed yours? Mine has a full interior with heated leather seats that are heavy. Heavy doors, and more, I calculated I can shed almost 1000 lbs in doors, spare tire, and some heavy OEM seats.
@@Nelsons721 go to Hummer4x4offroad and find the thread “New Motor” by 06 H3. That’s me, you will need a modified V8 harness, the harness will be a plug in deal except for the 12-14 wires that must be spliced into the BCM in the corner of the firewall. You will need current performance motor mounts, a 5.3, 6.0 or 6.2 from a 2008-2011 donor. The trans will need a new bellhousing and possibly changes to the wiring harness depending on the trans year.
John posego I used stock H3 alpha exhaust manifolds. Rest is custom from an exhaust shop. You could use cats from just about any 5.3 motor if you need cats
squeakin3 i was looking to delete the cats. But they only make long tubes for 5.3 2wd colorados. Nothing for h3s. The stock piping is just small and smashed places and i want it to breathe better
