I’m surprised he hasn’t realized that, just because he’s prophesied to be “The Hero,” doesn’t mean he’s meant to be “The Hero” *right now.* That’s the funny thing about prophesies - they typically don’t explain WHEN they’re supposed to happen, so it’s possible he’s not actually “The Hero” for another millennia or two
Fear and hunger is the only series that convincingly did gods a "correct way." You can tell Miro has a passion in writing that very specific kinda thing, not to mention all the referenecs they use for these higher powers too.
I think the best part about the gods lore, is that the ones that we truly will never know everything about are the old gods, the old gods are so powerful that they are more akin to nature forces, transcending human knowledge entirely and turning people mad with the things they know.
The Old Gods are hardly beings more than they are the manifestations/reflections of reality. They are the rules and laws of the world.... they are the soil beneath our feet, the air in our lungs, the stars above our head. They simply *are* . They cannot be imitated or defeated. Even in-game, those we fight are only "traces". The Machine and Logic god merges with and channels the power of the Old Gods' f*cking *TRACES* , not even the actual God itself! That is terrifying. Their very existence is completely and utterly beyond us.
That kinda what perkle says at the end of termina i think, that now that the old gods are gone they are no diferent than natural forces or natural disasters
Where Francois has a look that's kind of a "Conquistador" motif, which of course fits his "Dominator" role, I reached an epiphany with Nilvan. When looking at her appearance in a lady whose topless all the time, my first frame of reference would be Minoan priestess as they were known to just "free the nipple" too historically. But her clothing doesn't really match that, then I thought it does kind look like she's wearing harem pants. Not only that but how you "commune" with her is in a bedchamber where you have a collective dream bearing witness to the protagonists' backstories regardless of them all being in your party...stories...night after night...Endless...or 1001 nights? I think Nilvan is analogous to Shahrazad in the F&H universe.
You forgot the 4 new non-cannon gods that are created with the D-Endings of F&H1. The 3rd God of Enlightnment (Enki), The 2nd God of Torment (Ragnvaldr), The 2nd God of the Endless (Cahara), and The 2nd God of Domination (D'arce).
Magic and the occult means by which it is attained don't seem to be a secret in the Fear and Hunger setting. The study of it is intrisic to several characters' backstories, and it seems institutions dedicated to said study are just another type of college or university.
With the murderer in the apartments no-one ever seems to mention this but that's 110% "The Janitor" as in the dude who shows up in There's dimension at the very start of the game! There's a note talking about where to find the "fella" statue needed to unlock the church path further into the city says that the statue was taken home by "The Janitor", it's found in the exact same room in the woody Rher dimension, his apartment in the overworld has that giant sulfur symbol and the sulfur cultist at the start is the only person referred to as a janitor with his name literally being "The Janitor". Thank you to anyone who read my overexplained ramble
their a some part that are missing like the moon god able to inflic a status effect called moonscorch but still its a intertaining and covered most of the lore keep the good content
Virtuvia is an Old God, Sulphur is an Ascended God unless we are told later that it is different but it is the mirror of Alll-Mer an Ascended God, Logic is an Ascended God as well just a weaker version of one because she didn't consume the soul of an Old God.
@@RipOffProductionsLLC That is very fair. From the knowledge and lore we have she is Ascended, but it is very true that it could be revealed that it is a special case. Notes for that being the case is that Reila was not a child born of a prophesied one and a New God (unless she was and we were bamboozled lol), also she didn't consume the soul of an Old God (as far as we know). It is very likely that it is something entirely it's own, but she indeed did Ascend and reach the level of an Old God, just as Alll-Mer and F&H managed to do. Especially given that she created the Artificial Green and linked humanity. Hopefully he either clarifies in updates or just tells us or 3 will revolve around how the events of Termina affect the world on the whole. I'd bet that Logic being made is canon
@AzureRadio I don't see how The Machine God could be canon going forward, considering her function turning humanity into a hivemind, unless Fear and Hunger 3 is an RTS, there isn't much you can do with that...
Legarde didnt want to become the machine god, he gave up the thougth of saving the World thats why he build the machine god and wants to protect it from the player. At least thats what i thought
4:31 You missed two important details for Gro-Goroth, and that’s that 1) he also covers Solar magic, and 2) his symbol is that of the sun in eclipse, as he is the Sun God. Sylvian is the Venus God, Rher is the Moon God, and we already have the other planets missing since there’s barely traces left of the most powerful.
Wait, Valteil is the one who made those stone golem people that are in Mahabre? I never knew that, for some reason I thought the Sun god or Gro-goroth made them because some talk about how they await the return of the King/ ruler who I assume is the sun god or gro-goroth
Valteil didn't made the clay figures, they were already there when the new gods arrived to Mahabre, the figures were made by "the king" they talk about which is an old god (presumably the Sun God) and he is not the same as Gro-Goroth because they have different symbols and their stories don't match up
I think all the new god and even the ascended ones represent humanity while the old god represent the world itself. Ascended gods reflects humanity greatest side while the new god represent human desire. Logic represent connection Sulfur represent individuality Allmer represent virtue GOFH represent struggles (Yes i count sulfur as ascended too since he is allmer other side) New god represent some side of humanity though not as much as the ascended one. Francois represent conquest Betel, valtiel, enki (if he sat on the throne) represent desire of knowledge Tormented one represent pain And ragnavldr represent violence (i know he is not an actual god but if all monster become so afraid of his action that they started to hide from human eyes, i think calling him a mortal is just not doing it justice) This got me excited to see if F&H 3 will come in the future and tackle modern day human problem, maybe seeing the clash of sulfur and logic as the background of the story.
I haven't played Termina yet, heck I haven't even finished a proper ending of the first game but I bet there will be more games of these series. More lore, more characters, more mechanics, and improving graphics. I'm liking it because once the game has reach the point where it gets more complex and better graphics, I'll be an adult with money. It's like when you were a kid you played the first Final Fantasy game and you grew up playing their latest
It feels like ascending to godhood on that throne just corrupts your soul, disturbs what you are, your not being all powerful, your losing yourself, you wont be the same. all these gods and in the end nothing but to be forgotten
Love how le'garde will always fail to become a god in the same level as the older gods. But, ironically he's always part of the reason why the world was propelled into a new age, for example: The creation of the ascended god and the new man-made god (which i think has the potential to become an ascended god) God of Fear and Hunger = The age that pushes humanity to create machines and the start of industrialization. Logic the Machine God = I think she should've been the one to push humanity a new age which i think is the information age. Le'garde has a major role on the creation of these two, being the father of the little girl who houses an ancient soul and continuing the project for the creation of logic. So in a sense, although it's stated by the new gods that him being the man of prophecy and will bring humanity to a new age is false. Ironically in a sense he's the man of prophecy although he can never and will never become either an old god or new god and that he did "brought" a reason for humanity to advance in the form of his two creations. He may always fail in his objective to become a god and may not have the glory and worship of humanity to him. But, he is one the reasons for humanity to improve than to start all over again and for that he has my respect.
I have a theory that I only just now thought of because of this video: Alll-mer is a very Christian-esque figure, who ascends when sacrificed on a cross. However the God of Fear and Hunger ascends in the depths of the… well, God of Depths. If we assume thusly that alongside being born to a divinity of some description, one must also receive some essence from the old gods, perhaps by being entrenched in their domain somehow, and Christ in his mythology “died for our sins” in a form of human sacrifice, what if their essence or sponsorship came from the God of Sacrifice themselves? Gro-goroth, a slightly more Old Testament deity, unintentionally siring the new, ascendant deity. This may add some depth (heh) to the God of Sulfur as well, being cast off from Alll-mer himself
What truly makes the God of F&H much better than Alll-Merr is that instead of casting out the worse part of herself to be a “better” god, she embraced that part of herself, sure you could argue because that’s all she’s ever known but she doesn’t discriminate nor does she judge anyone any different. It oddly made her more human. Much more human than Alll-Merr, sure he’s the Jesus analog of the F&H universe. But not in a good way. The god of F&H is a much more honest expression of humanity. It’s a bleak and dark one. But it’s honest and impartial. True virtue in godhood (IMO) isn’t abandoning or refusing to have or admit to having very base and human emotions or wants (once or before) it’s facing and ascending despite them. True virtue and strength of power is overcoming the worst part of yourselves and eventually accepting them. Because despite everything, it’s still you. Also thanks for the good Content Habibi. This is some good shit. 10/10 liked. Edit: also subbed. Looking forward to more quality content.
There is a magic of sulfur btw (the longinus a two handed version of blood sword) Also there are other gods hinted at in the games code with some being red herrings but we know for sure of a sun god aenos who was replaced by all mer when he ascended
I see the Sulfur God as the shadow self of Alll-Merr, hes the imperfect, unforgiving, violent aspect that he in shame and guilt cast out after killing the corrupt kings and tyrants that crucified him, he is suppose to be a stand in for Christ after all.
Well, in alchemy you have the classic triad of Salt - Sulfur - Mercury; Body - Soul - Mind/Spirit, the Sulfur or Soul being our wants, emotions and desires: Basically Ego, for a god of egoism... Which is specially curious, because then you go see Max Weber's classical work "The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism", and you see the very egoistic ethics focusing on salvation by wealth accumulation and thinking on oneself, that would propel the development of a new type of society and production, coming from an offshoot of christianity, like the Sulfur God coming from All-mer, specifically in this period of industry. Weird if just a coincidence. Really makes me think tho.
Good video but i see a few things that are not enterily correct, most are details: As far as we know both Logic and Sulfur seem to be ascended, Sulfur either ascended with or instead of All-Mer based on what black caleb tells you and while we don't have any character straight up saying it, Logic does seem to ascend using the soul of Rher as that would be the only way that it ascending would stop the festival. As for vitruvia we don't even know if they are a god, they are an extremly relevant entity to the lore but that's about it. For all we know they could be an aspect of Sylvian, a human, a new god or any number of things. Every old god (Other than the god of the depths) and All-Mer are worshipped by Dark Priests. There is at least one follower of Vinushka the priest from the orphanage father Hugo i believe? Wrote a manifesto really angry about the Vinushka skin bible saying he is dead, we can assume other dark priests that specialice in pyromancy are followers of Vinushka. As for Le'Garde ascension this is a weird one because as you say the ending where he ascends it's likely not canon (We know this because most ending S that we know are canon, Ragna and Enki's, need for Le'garde to be dead) but everything indicates that he did indeed asceend, when Logic is about to be powered the new gods show up, becuase of the music that sounds when you fight him (A remaster of the first game new god battle theme) and because he looks like the yellow king, it's possible that he ascended after D'Arce S ending or that he underwent a pseudo ascension because of being revived. The fact of the matter is that he is almost 100% a new god in termina.
Reminder that Enki's S ending is canon. This means that he canonically beat Sylvian's traces. Enki also uses Gro Goroth's magic Old gods are manifestations of concepts, rather than simple beings, meaning Gro Goroth isn't someone that gives destructive magic rather he is the destructive magic used. He is destruction incarnate So Enki using destruction magic to beat Sylvian was just a roundabout way of Gro Goroth beating his wife-
Script reading is hard, its almost impossible for 90% of people to not mess up a word or stutter a little, rerecording a few lines isnt something to be ashamed of but it adds alot to an already great video
The sulfur god(who is burned and has lost limbs) looks like the reverse of the salmonsnake talisman ("dragon" in Finnish, and reminiscent of salamander(fire in alchemy))(which protects against burns and limb loss), and they both look like Thor's hammer. The salmonsnake relied heavily on its tongue in battle and the sulfur god is only able to move its tongue. Any ideas on what that mishmash of connections means?
arguably you ight call Logic and the Sulfur God "Created Gods", posssibly, as isn't their deal is that rather than being humans who ascended via the throne or what have you they're...something else that were somehow created by the actions of humans and new gods and followers of the gods and such. I could be wrong.
Nope you’re exactly correct. Any god that isn’t an Old God is a man made creation. We use powers of old gods in ascended gods, but the old gods aren’t doing it. The New Gods create ascension, Old Gods can’t create ascension since it requires a unique soul, and Old Gods don’t really understand human souls all that well. Only a New God with their “perfected” soul can merge with another humans soul to create a unique soul. Like the little girls Ancient One soul.
Nas'hrah acctualy saved my termina play through. Look at the accessory description what happened is I was fighting an inquisitor and he used hurting I was going to die but then nas'hrah just REFLECTED THE SPELL and saved my entire play through.
I wonder if the gods not sliding into the other 3 categories are a type of “created” gods. (I’m not good with these names so bear with me) Sylvian created that servant god. Alll-Merr may have inadvertently created the Sulfur God. And Logic was literally built by Le’Garde as a supernatural internet. I’m not the only one that thinks this but I predict the 3rd game will be based on “I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream.” Logic will go rogue and come to hate humanity like AM. Le’Garde may have created the last god in Fear and Hunger. Heck, maybe Logic will attempt to totally destroy the Old and New Gods. At least absorb them like AM did with the Russian and Chinese AI. I’m really looking forward to the 3rd one and really hope it’s based on that.
love your videos but sometimes when you speak you sort of speed through your words instead of taking your time and its sometimes distracting and hard to comprehend. much love dude, and sorry if i offend!
Also, 13:48, isn’t Sulphur the GOOD part BECAUSE he’s the human side of Alll-mer? He says do whatever you want, but that’s because it’s a twisted, malformed half-truth. Perke’le misinterprets it as “true freedom is doing whatever you want”, but Sulphur means the freedom from the reign of gods, to move INTO the reign of man. It also means that Alll-mer isn’t on the side of humanity, and through him, Vitruvian (or any of the Old Gods except Rher) lives on and rules humanity more directly…
Yes! Actually in addition to the one I have already done on the Sulfur God (Which is already on my channel) there’s another one on a specific god tomorrow
It sucks I’ve been trying to play this game for over a year now, I discovered it summer 2023 and it’s not available on steam or any store here in the US….sucks…guess I’ll just settle with the great lore…
in first nations lore the sun and the moon are masculine and feminine and the trickster is a hero to our people being the child of those 2 celestial dieties
@@thezeronelite it describes its job as "basking under the sun", sun is heavily associated with sulfur. Also at the museum it talks about an artist underground. I assume he talks about sulfur god burning in the pits. There are many hints that lead to sulfur and none to rher in its speeches.
I think Sulphur, who is a like a foil to Allmer, is associated with the sun god, but in the way god of f&h is with the god of the depths. I think the ascension requires an old one and it's death or something. There could be a foil to f&h we don't know of like how sulphur is kinda minor. The would make sulphur also "ascended" in a sense Edit: forgot pocketcat Since perkele has hijacked rhers festival for sulphur it makes sense that pocketcat would be associated with both of them
@@thezeronelite In addition to the other responses I'd like to add that Pocketcat isn't actually a moonscorch form like other contestants I think, sorta like how Crow Mauler isn't one either
@@TheNoMoreGamer didn’t he say that the sun god is actually connected to sulfur? If I remember correctly he said that the sun god was a different entity that died to create alll-mer/god of sulfur the sulfur sun is also mentioned. I don’t remember Gro-goroth being connected to sun in any way
@@Scorpion-xe3pt that doesn’t make much sense, why would gro-goroth have two sigils and be both two gods rher is god of the moon, nothing else, why god of destruction is sun god too you also have a horse mask that is definitely for sun god worshippers, gro-goroth already has wolf masks
@@thatlittlemonstrosity From what I remember the idea behind a God ascending is for an old god to die and some sort of trade to be made, leading to the creation of an ascended God. For Alll-mer it's assumed to be Gro-gorth/the sun god and for The god of Fear and Hunger it's assumed to be the God of the Depths, but there's still a lot of mysteries behind it all, like did the ascension of the God of Fear and Hunger create a evil God, is an ascended God created when an old God "dies" or is it a specfiic ritual, cuz wouldn't that mean there's another ascended God since Vanushka is dead? Bottom line is the lore of fear and hunger is vast and fun to think about
Prople are lore junkies man. Everyone was taught to critically think but never how to apply it. You have a very soild way of explaining. I see nothing but what was earned. In terms of your sub/view count. To add to Francois, I beleive he turns to gold to represent alchemy or the process of which to become enlightened. Just a guess tho.
Very cool video. I’m glad to see more fear and hunger analysis. You should clean up your recordings a smidge. Just do a new voice take if you misspeak at first. But that’s a small nitpick. Can’t wait to see more from you.
