FYI the reason for not rolling the brightness on the scope immediately to 11 (or whatever max power), and needing to go from 1 through to 11, is due to night usage. You'll see this on any military scope / sight. Basically, you don't want to inadvertently bump it on to full power at night, as its fairly bright and a HUGE "here i am" marker. Under nods its even brighter and can be picked up fairly easily.
The forward assist is there because there is a technique called loosely translated "silent battery". It's trained since the G3 times but is harder with a G3 because it has no forward assist. What you do is with your right thumb you push back on the boltcarrier in the grooove while at the same time you push the forward assist a little bit more. Goal is to slowly let the bolt turn into battery instead of loudly snapping into place.
Piece of mind on the illumination knob: In practical use, there is a very handy use for the stop on the knob. First of all, you retain the tactile feel for when the illumination is off. That's pretty handy in the dark, when you don't want to turn on any light to check the setting. Since the optic is night vision compatible, you'll be hard pressed to visually verify if the dot is all the way off on the low settings. ☺️ When the night vision is applied, it is also a pretty nifty feature to be unable to turn the knob past zero to full power directly into the expensive, sensitive night vision equipment. It may cut out, but that doesn't mean it's good for either your nv-kit or your eyes, if it takes a split second for the nv to respond to the bombardment of light. 😊
HK offered the german army a modified version of the MR308 with an aluminium upper. But after tests the military instisted on a stell upper because stell less expands and contracts in extreme temperature. So the G28 with steel upper offers more consistent shooting resuls without zeroing even after extreme temperature changes.
@@theimmortal4718 under even heavy use it probably wouldn't. The point being the test far exceed what they're actually made for. Like a truck that says it can tow 10k# I gaurentee it was tested up until it broke Same with lift equipment and what not.
@@hunterromano5562 Yes, it's a German thing as well... I work for a German machine tool manufacturer here in the States. The accuracy that we guarantee for our machines, and what our machines are actually reliably capable of, are significantly different (meaning actual accuracy is better). I'd posit that the HK MR762/MR308/MR716 are capable of much better accuracy than what they guarantee (1.5MOA). There's a few reviews on RU-vid where the reviewers report sub-MOA accuracy on 5rnd groups, with specific ammunition. You also have to know that HK's accuracy guarantee is for a 10 or 20rnd group (not sure which), not 3 or 5. This was also true of the HK PSG-1's. Also, the majority of the reviews are of rifles with the stock triggers and so-so optics. With a massaged or tuned trigger and high end glass, I'd bet that groups would improve some. As for the steel upper vs aluminum alloy... Logically, (I have no first hand experience, just familiarity with how the Germans do things) the steel is undoubtedly better, otherwise it wouldn't be an option at all. The question would be if it's worth the extra weight. In the end, I guess you have to make the choice on whether or not you want this rifle badly enough to pay the price for it (I sure as hell would!!). I don't understand why guys hate on HK. They make a damn nice product. You pay through the nose for it, but in the end, if you can't shoot for shit with it, it's not the rifle. I'm of the mindset that you always buy better equipment than your skills are capable of, for the simple reason that it you have a problem using it, you have a pretty good idea that it's not the fault of the equipment.
Unfortunately all those guns are gone. Most are banned. So he doesn’t have much anymore. Or he shouldn’t have much anymore. Maybe some old bolt rifles and some pistols. Whatever liberal law allows him.
I try. It's a lot of fun tracking down rare guns. I think I enjoy putting out video content on them even more though. Happy for any feedback. I am constantly aiming to improve my videos and delivery.
I get why you like being able to throw the safety on when the hammer is down but honestly I’ve grown accustomed to the mental cue that the hammer is not cocked when the safety lever can’t be thrown on safe. It helps me instantly understand the status of the rifle
Dude how did you get that safe in Canada??? Im looking into it but other than driving to the states i cant figure out where to get one. Im from toronto
Call Rhino Metals and ask for Luke. He worked out the logistics of getting me mine, and I he is currently working with a couple other guys up here in Canada to get them some. Alternatively, DM me on instagram and I will get you his direct contact on there.
Since owning gunz is a hobby for you, you should get the Heavy Counter Assault rifle also known as the HCAR in 30-06 love that round ainr no big AK bull moose got away yet
The reason HK doesn't exports to or targets the civilian market is simply because they're not allowed to. After the 2nd world war laws were set in place which are meant to restrict German companies from selling "military style" weapons, designs or other materials.
Bit late of an addition but our government also holds alot of the patents for the weapons in service. the Mp7 for example doesnt get sold not because HK doesnt want it in the hands of filthy civilians but because the Bundeswehr owns the patent for the gun and ammunition.
I was just curious how long you’ve been working on your collection and how old are you because that is like the best gun collection i’ve ever seen I play a lot of modern warfare and I think you have every gun in the game, how awesome is that. It’s💯👍🏻 A guy this cool must be 🇨🇦
Haha thanks buddy. I'm late 20's and have been collecting for roughly 4-5 years. I am a bit out of touch with video games, was big into COD BO1 back in the day, but that's awhile ago already. If you DM me on insta with a list of guns I have that are in MW, I could look at doing a video. I would just want it to be accurate, and don't really have the timeto get into the game, so I would be relying on valid info to do the video.
Arm&Gun That would be an awesome video if you did a review of all the real guns in modern warfare you would probably get 1 million subscribers quite quickly because anything to do with modern warfare at the moment is blowing up on RU-vid just do a modern warfare thumbnail video for a test and I promise you it will get in the tens of thousands of views quite quickly,
I love your collection! Unfortunately, the Saudi royal family didn't believe I was a long lost prince and refused my offer. So I'll have to be happy with my POF P308 Edge. She's not real skinny either at 11.5 pounds with optic and full mag.
I know your home is Canada, but if your job is firearms then have you ever considered moving? I know it’s a lot but consider Texas, it has some of the best gun laws in the US, food for thought, love the channel just thought I’d throw that out there
I had considered moving, but it’s not practical for me at this time. I am exploring another way to create content more freely while remaining within the law. No my job is not in the firearm industry, this is just my hobby/passion.
Like the AWSM rifle? A buddy had it and decided he wanted a modern PRS gun instead of the older military pedigree one. I was happy to take it off his hands. It's a The A3 model is a phenomenal rifle.
Just sitting here rich as hell just looking at every gun you can see highlighted on other channels..I havnt shot any of them but boy they sure look expensive 😂..I'll make sure I read enough so sound edumacated
Arm&Gun I want another company to just blatantly rip off some design cues from them. I love the look of the hand guard going all the way to the muzzle and vertically being flush. Would 100% buy that hand guard for an AR build.
He can’t. They are all banned now. So he shouldn’t have any of these assault rifles in his safe. Maybe just some bolt action rifles and that’s about it.
I just got an 18" OBR upper for my SR25. I am looking forward to exploring the accuracy potential. I have a 20" MR308A3 I will test out for accuracy as well. It should be superior to the G28 due to the hard chromed barrel.
Jesse Wright The difference between military and civilian is, a military firearm is fully automatic opposed to civilian is semi automatic that is the major difference.
@@jessewright6468 It's hard to say without specifying a particular firearm. There can be a lot of nuance to different versions of different weapons. But the general rule of thumb is that they are A. Purchased/procured by a Military or Government Entity B. Have no restrictions on select-fire(full auto, burst, etc) C. No restriction on barrel length. But in many cases, depending on your local laws, if you have the money and time..you can own it too.
The story I heard was that some police units in Canada wanted them, and to get the "Z" model through Canada's classification system could have taken another 4 years. Hk needs cash and didn't want to lose the sale. Given the G28 system is already based on the semi auto MR308 system, I think they just made it work. That's purely hearsay, but is the same story I have heard from a couple reputable sources.
20 CDN (15USD) is a little high. They were 16k MSRP, though a couple shops let them go for 14.6. I paid 16 via Wolverine supplies, plus tax etc. However I hear that the supply is now dry and the likelihood of getting more from Hk is slim. With that said, it's up to the collector market in Canada to decide the price. 20k isn't that unrealistic for a discerning Hk collector, considering UMP's and G36's still fetch over 10k. European MSRP is 10k Euro, though I have also heard of them selling for 10% or so under that.
And yes that is for the full package. The optics setup along is incredily expensive. The Era-tac mount is another top notch German component, let alone the "made for Hk" Schmidt and Bender. Quick note, the G28 comes with (1) 5round magazine, not the 20 round (limited to 5) pictured. It also comes with a harris bipod with ral8000 pic rail adaptor, and a Hk flashhider, not the Surefire warcomp with trainer (fake suppressor) pictured.
Not a bad rifle Why they don't put MLOK halfway down the front of the handguard is beyond me. Being a sniper rifle it is doubtful they will mount anything on either side of the front handguard, and weight is not a huge issue for a DMR.
you can take the MLOK handguard from the MR308 if you need one. Oh no disregard, i just remembered it's a HK-specific MLOK clone with slightly difference measurements.
@@jollyroger7546 The less weight over the front the better and Mlok is the new US standard. Doesn't need to be as geavily skeletonised as the Sig 716 G2.
